Now what is this. The petrol is comming from the over flow pipe when the carb is left in open position. The petrol starts comming out exactly after 5 min when parked side ways. Now guys who all have faced this issue this bike is making me go Nutts everyday. I am laughing now chuck it I guess I will just ride and one day sell the bike.

When did you notice this leakage? Is it after trying to start the bike for some time? because failure of starting the bike in 1st or 2nd attempt actually stores the unused petrol in the carburetor and it flows through that overflow pipe. And what do you mean by "carb is left in open position"? Are you sure that is petrol? Try to confirm after smelling it. Because once I went through a knee deep water with my bike and I have noticed the water came out from that exact spot for 3-4 days. Your problems are making me sad as I know the pain if we see this kind of things. I will try to help as far as possible.

      • 50 K Kilometer on odometer - Avenger

Age: 4 years and 8 months
        Odometer reading: 50000
Wanna sell: No way. Despite getting another beast, Benelli TNT 300, I don't wanna part with Avenger.

        Why?

Despite abuse, it is serving loyally.
Despite taking it to terrains it's not meant for, never complained. Performed well in pathetic roads. To me this is a best off-roading cruiser.
        Low maintenance cost.
I rarely wash my Avenger and lubing chain happens once in god knows when, probably during Ayudha pooja and other festivals like Ugadi.
Literally swallows pot holes of Bangalore
Pillion comfort. After advent of Benelli, Avenger has taken responsibility of daily commute and my wife never complained of any discomfort even in pathetic conditions.
I can't imagine alloy wheels taking a beating like my Avenger's spokes.
It has turned out to be a rugged beast with nice exhaust sound over period.
Bajaj service center guys had asked me to get the engine overhauled in November 2014 and get the tyres changed too. I ignored and still running.
Tyres still holding on with two punctures till date.
No oil leaks or fork issues.
Chain sprocket changed couple of times due to my negligence. Tail lamp changed couple of times. Clutch cable changed once even when it was not required by service center guys. Clutch plate changed once by service center guys which made me to ignore all their future suggestions.

So, you tell me why should I sell my Avenger. 50000 Km more waiting

Yes it is petrol only. Went to the service station they opened the CATV and cleaned it. There was dirt inside. But after they rectified it again in the evening after a small ride there was leakage again have sent an email to the works manager and he has called me tom again as he is getting the carb replaced. Completely. I guess the problem will be solved. I meant the on position of the carb.

Yes bro friends problem was solved today. Very small one thow. The fluid pin was the culprit. Here I really wonder what quality they have started making I mean this is a new bike. Well we all know the quality of bajaj but like this. Anyways all set and done problem solved. The fluid pin cost is 154 Rs here where as against 300 Rs of petrol gone. Changed under warranty. With a small face of course.

Yes dear having a blast on it just that something really bugs me but it's kind of a ok I have got used to it now. It's like this when you are ridding the bike for long on any gear I repeat on any gear specially the top end at speeds of 50 and above the bike feels as if it is going out of petrol like a caugh. But when you lower your speed and reduce your speed it stops just for a second but starts again I really wonder what is this. When asked the service people they say it is like this on this bike. Well let me speak to other users of this bike is it just mine or others. If it is related to carb setting then let it be. Bike is giving good fe. I will adjust my self.

Well also out there users who have purchased this bike can you experience the same the way I am.

hi today I happen to visit bajaj as the service center and the sales are together I had gone there for a delivery of a 220 which was of my friend so thought of asking few customers of how they feel what I have already expressed here. I was shocked all of them were saying the same thing.

(this must a little strange to you all but it is true while ridding the bike in any gear even after the bike is full tank and fully wormed up. while ridding the bike one feels as if it is missing while you are accelerating the bike. hmmm the fuel supply is not smooth but it is for some seconds when you reduce the gear the problem gets solved but if you are on a higher gear that is 5 gear after 50 km/hr one gets this feeling continuously. heard this problem from many users.)

Well when asked the incharge which carburetor has been put in the bike well he started saying that there are 2 kinds of carburetor. the one which is used in this particular 150 has.

                      Variable-Venturi
in which the fuel jet opening is varied by the slide (which simultaneously alters air flow). In "constant depression" carburetors, this is done by a vacuum operated piston connected to a tapered needle which slides inside the fuel jet. A simpler version exists, most commonly found on small motorcycles and dirt bikes, where the slide and needle is directly controlled by the throttle position. The most common variable Venturi (constant depression) type carburetor is the sidedraft SU carburetor and similar models from Hitachi, Zenith-Stromberg and other makers. The UK location of the SU and Zenith-Stromberg companies helped these carburetors rise to a position of domination in the UK car market, though such carburetors were also very widely used on Volvos and other non-UK makes. Other similar designs have been used on some European and a few Japanese automobiles. These carburetors are also referred to as "constant velocity" or "constant vacuum" carburetors. An interesting variation was Ford's VV (Variable Venturi) carburetor, which was essentially a fixed Venturi carburetor with one side of the Venturi hinged and movable to give a narrow throat at low rpm and a wider throat at high rpm. This was designed to provide good mixing and airflow over a range of engine speeds, though the VV carburetor proved problematic in service.

                      A high performance 4-barrel carburetor
Under all engine operating conditions, the carburetor must:

Measure the airflow of the engine
Deliver the correct amount of fuel to keep the fuel/air mixture in the proper range (adjusting for factors such as temperature)
Mix the two finely and evenly.

thus the mixing of air and fuel well this is the problem which I am remembering on my honda unicorn which somewhere had the same problem. It is the carburetor live with it friends.

That means if the owner of street220/150 has decided to go for tubeless tyres then he has to change the rim also!!!

No no he does not but it is very difficult to find the rear tubeless tyre I am easily getting the front tube less but it is very hard to get the rear one. Of any make friends if you get one do let me know.

Today went for a ride with friends. It was a pleasant one but while ridding the bike I was really amazed with this machine. Seriously the bike is very smooth and silent on the highway took the bike to 90 speed where the sound was ok ok and there was no rattle sound from anywhere. Even the vibes were not there. Because it was a day time and the sun was right on our head which was actually very hot, the bike did not miss even ones I mean while acceleration the feel of struggling was not there. After we came back at night around 9:00 we had to meet again for dinner so thought of going on the bike again. Where the engine was worm not that worm as it was in the day time now the feeling was felt while acceleration. I think in the day time it will not but at nights it will. Anyways today I had a good fun ride. Which included
