An year back, I used to change the engine oil only once in 2000kms, but now I have to replace the engine oil every 300-400 kms. If I ride the bike for 700 kms then only 100ml of oil would be there when the engine oil is drained.
If there is No Smoke then you can give a try on the orifice valve in the rubber hose.
if the valve fix doesn't fix your problem and in current condition if you feel that compared to other pulsars your bike has Low pick-up then get the engine rebuilt.

Do you mean i should keep low RPM by keeping Revs low? I don't know about Rev.
So, this is like to get improvement in mileage I have to first change oil at 600-700kms and do first service ... That means rebuilding engine will not give instant difference in mileage
??
Surely I will regularly check for oil level because that is the reason behind engine rebuild ..
Hi,
Revs mean RPM only...rebuilding is almost equivalent to getting a new engine so give it some time until all parts bed in.
Mileage will improve after first service.

Hi,Originally posted by vipin007 View PostThank you for your valuable input. I will use only genuine parts as I do not want any troubles after rebuilding the engine.
If I am doing the repairs from local Mechanics den what is the way I can get original Bajaj parts?
Mechanics usually use duplicate ones they manage to find.
Could u pls suggest some spareparts shop or online shops from where we can get original Bajaj parts?
if you know the local BAJAJ distributor go and get the parts there only, if you don't know where to get the parts, don't take the Hassle.
leave it to authorized service centre, if anything not done upto the mark you can go and grill them, same is not the case with Local mechanics.

As you had rebuilt your engine, mechanic would have set your carb to slightly richer side, give some time until next service and keep the Revs low to let the valves and piston rings to seat properly.
get the Carb adjusted by Mechanic in next service, you should see improvement in mileage, also keep track on oil level.

(white/blue exhaust even while idling)if your exhaust smoke is not white/blue and if it only smokes black on high revs then carb needs adjustment and fix the valve mentioned in my post, this will fix your oil disappearing problem.

If it is time to get your engine rebuilt, go ahead and get it done without worrying. Ensure that all parts used are genuine. And find a mechanic who is capable. Look beyond the official SVC as well, since a lot of good mechs work in their own shops. Check with bikers in the city for a good mech.
An engine replacement would surely mean that the engine number would change and such update would have to be made in the RC. Going through the RTO and all. Not worth the headache at all. Not one bit!

This is exactly the issue that I am also facing right now.Originally posted by discoverVinu View PostHi Bhpians,
After 65400 Kms and replacing Bore kit for three times in My pulsar 150DTSi, finally found the actual reason and the solution for the problem of rapid oil depletion in pulsar bikes.
Problem: Oil depletes rapidly, upto 250ml in 300Kms ride
, No white smoke what so ever. every time I showed my bike to the service center/garage, I was asked to replace bore kit which I did and issue repeats
, bore kit changed, clutch changed/adjusted multiple times but no help.
Reasons behind oil depletion:
possibility 1. worn piston rings/bore ( which was not my case as i was not getting any white smoke)
possibility 2. oil is Leaking from crank case ( again No leaks found)
As all the possibilities were ruled out and I started searching for other reasons for oil consumption and in my case found some oil in the filter box, i guessed oil is coming from
crank case to the filter box through the tube connected from crank case to filter box, and also found that there is a regulator type valve called PCV valve in cars which act as a
control for blowby gases and oil fumes coming from crank case to the intake manifold.

I searched for this FIXED ORIFICE PCV valve for fitting in My bike and to my bad luck I didn't get it anywhere.
So I have Improvised and made My own fixed orifice thingy and have fitted to the hose connecting the crank case and the filter box in the fashion as in below picture.
this valve/pipe is nothing but an Pipe with outside diameter of 10 and inside orifice/hole dia of 3mm. I have cut the black rubber pipe on my bike and fitted this valve in between.

I will attach the actual pictures by evening after I take the actual Photos.
after fitting this modd, have ridden 700Kms so far with same oil and it seems to be working like wonder, no drop in oil what so ever, My issue is solved, thought this modd
could help other bikers who are afraid to travel without top up engine oil like I used to.

Pulsar engine replacement
Hii all, I am new to this forum and I do not know much about bikes. I do read xbhp and that is how I know atleast something related to bikes.
First of all, I apologise if I am asking anything stupid regarding the bike engine replacement. I am asking you this after a friend of mine, who is a Service advisor of Tata Cars, said that engine replacement is possible in case of automobiles if we are ready to spend some extra costs. However, I am not sure if he is correct and that is why I am here to ask you the details.
I have a 2009 model Pulsar 150 bike, which is d first bike I got, and it has started showing few complaints. Past a year, it is consuming lots of engine oil; however, the smoke is normal and there is no difference in riding experience and even the mileage I am getting is above 50 within the Ahmedabad city. It is the technician who told that there is some issue with the piston and engine overhaul is required in order to rectify this complaint.
As of now, I have to topup engine oil every 400-500kms and I am afraid to travel far from the city considering the engine condition. The technician said that the whole work could be done within a cost of 6000 Rs. I forgot what all he mentioned that is to be replaced. All I remember is piston.
From what I have seen with my friends' experience, once a Pulsar engine is opened and repaired, it always give some or the other trouble( atleast like oil leak). Therefore, I would like to know if it possible for us to get an Engine replacement from factory with same ENGINE NUMBER.
If it is possible then how much would the cost be?
The reason I feel that my friend is wrong is because if it was possible then all would have done engine replacement on their cars and bikes and never bought a new machine.
I love my bike very much and would like to keep it forever. I have taken it for long trips in the past but I am unable to do so now as I am afraid if my bike will fail me in some remote place.
I am not confident if the engine overhaul will stop the problem completely and that is why I am requesting you to give me your valuable knowledge, suggestions and advices on Engine replacement or engine repair.
Once again I apologise if I am sounding stupid about Engine replacement.
Waiting for your replies. Thanks in advance.

Pulsar 150 engine overheating problem and top end speed issue.
Hi Friends,
Today i am here to discuss about some issue with my bike which is pulsar 150 and model is 2009.
I am currently facing totally 3 issue's with my bike..
1) My bike get heat very soon and it's terrific in traffic condition. Not able to keep my feet at the paddle. I do almost 30Km onside everyday and total my bike travel 60km per day...
2) My second problem is i am able to touch a max speed of 104 kmph.
Before servicing the bike i use to do 120 kmph easily now it's struggling to do 104 kmph.... Top speed was 135 kmph before.....and i always maintain time to time servicing.
But i am happy here as i am getting a decent mileage of 45 kmpl which is combine to both city and highway.
3) My third problem is --- When i start the engine i keep it idle for at least 1 min to work the engine oil. After idling if to few min when i apply clutch and when i change gear from neutral to 1st my engine gets off... i dunno about this whether it's normal case to every bike or only my bike does such....
Friends your suggestion is very important to me... please help............thanks in advance..... I hope i may get some good thing to know.....

{Fix found} solution to Rapid Oil depletion problem in Pulsar 150 DTSi.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Is it necessary to rebuild full engine ??i think replacing piston kit will be enough and costs around 2000/- Rs right?? 7000 rs is too much for now.Originally posted by harsh dts-fi View PostOne year ago i re build my pulsar 150 engine it costs 7000/- rs from a local micanik
what will happen if i only change piston kit and other necessary parts like piston ring, valve etc,.
