help needed to fix my problems with my Pulsar 150
hello guys,
first of all happy holi to all of you,
My name is Umang Patel from Gujarat currently living in Gandhinagar. i have joined very recently xbhp , i used to read owner reviews and problem-their solutions on this forum.
now lets start with my actual problem .
i owned bajaj pulsar 150 which i have bought from my friend .current reading on odometer is 71522, it is manufactured in dec-2009 and purchased in march 2010.i purchased it on 26-november-2015.initially there is lots of sound coming from engine which mechanic said that is of timing chain so timing chain has been changed in 4th week of dec-2015 after that ,the sound is normal and here following list of problems i am facing currently:
1)It gives me average nearly 30-35 km/l ,when i have done first service that time mechanic said that he tuned carburetor for better mileage but nothing improved. seriously 150 should give at least 40-45 km/l.
2)white smoke is continuously coming out from silencer and also engine sound is not smooth at all, yeah i have changed engine oil (10w-40 elf semi synthetic) on 28-nov-2015 and to my surprise in January ending i went for service and the mechanic told me that there is very less oil is there . i have only done 800 km approx. then i have changed oil (bajaj 10000 20w-50).and more smoke is coming out.first when i start bike and throttle it at 5000+ rpm then more smoke is coming out. after driving for 10-15 minutes amount of smoke is reduced but still coming out which is visible at night.
3)Display is not working properly ,last week there is sudden rain here and from that day the speed is displaying randomly for some time and after 1-2 minute it is becoming 0km/h.
4)Performance is also not that great compared to other pulsars which i have tested. i am afraid to ride it above 70 km/h as it sounds like engine will blown anytime.
please guys help me with these problems.i am seriously tensed for the first 2 problems. thanks in advance

Re: Pulsar 150-Dtsi suspension problem
A few months back my right shocker seal gave away and I had to take to take it to SVCOriginally posted by curve_king View PostPlease can you give a few more details about -
"Forks not being levelled properly"
After changing seals , filling it with new oil and fitting it back (Only right shocker was overhauled) they handed the bike to me.
I immediately felt a change in the front end as the bike was pulling towards left.
On complaining they made me wait for an hour before attending the bike.
But they couldn't align the forks properly and ever since then I was experiencing wrist and shoulder pains on long rides.
So last week when I overhauled the cone-set bearings
The level of shockers protruding at the top of cone set was different.(It was same to naked eye but the difference was about 8mm)
I carefully measured both the shockers made them at same level and then finally tightened everything.
As soon as I drove the bike after fixing it brought a smile to my face.
It was good as new, and has been a pleasure to drive ever since.

There forks were not leveled perfectly and my bike used to pull to one side.
Which caused riding fatigue as I had to keep the bike at balance...

Re: Need advice regarding the bike
I'm also in trichy. The mechanic at Kailash Nagar Bajaj SVC is a good guy. Consult him once. I had to replace my engine block piston, timing chain, valves, etc but it was sort of worth it. Anyway, if you find a good pulsar specialist then let me know too..Originally posted by Aravindhn View PostThanks for your inputs.
I'm in trichy tamilnadu here the service centres are just bogus they want only money.
Once my gear lever got damaged for that they do some gimmick magic and all sorts of things I ended up paying 7-8k for all repair works.
I think of going with roadside mechanic anybody suggest me a good pulsar mechanic in and around trichy.?

Anyone kindly attach spare part price list pdf of pulsar 150.
Thanks in advance.

Check the swingarm bushes(This should be the only thing left after changing rear shockers)Originally posted by pulzar123 View PostHi, I have a five year old Pulsar 150 DTSI.
A couple of months ago, I started to feel stiffness in the rear suspension. So I did the reasonable thing and took it a Bajaj Service center. There they said the shocks are completely gone and replaced it. Initially for like two days it seemed fine before stiffening again. When I took it back to the service center, they kept changing the adjustment level from soft to hard to soft. But again after 2-3 days the same problem.
Thinking, it was my back, I tried friends bikes, Apache, another Pulsar and a Passion. Incredibly there was no pain or stiffness felt.
I even took it to one of the shock absorber specialist shops. They also 'serviced' and did the stiffness level changing. But no real change.
So should I try and replace the shocks again? I am out of options at this point.
Note: Drive about 4-5 km/day
Front suspension is fine - no jerks felt. Only back suspension problem.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Does the rear section makes a squeaky sound when you sit on it in winters ??
There is a screw point on both sides from where you can oil the bearings.(It is visible on the right side, for left side you will have to remove front sprocket cover)
Take to the service centre and ask them to oil the swingarm bearings..
If they are reluctant then take the help of roadside mechanics.

Finally took the time to clean/grease the Cone set bearings..
This thing was troubling me for a month or so..
This was the first time it was cleaned in 5+ years of owning the bike.
Upper bearing had some grease left but the lower one was completely dried up.
UPDATE: After greasing the bearings and leveling the forks the bike's completely transformed, in handling the front end is now more lighter and handling has improved a lot. !!!
There forks were not leveled perfectly and my bike used to pull to one side.
Which caused riding fatigue as I had to keep the bike at balance.
I would recommend this job at least every year or 15,000 KMS.Last edited by V!RU$; 03-20-2016, 06:43 PM.

Need Help with Modding Pulsar 150 UG3
I own a second owned P150 UG3 '08 model which was 23k on the odo when i bought. It started showing troubles of overheating and extreme harshness so i went to ASC and they had me replaced the Block Piston and Valves n Timing Chain and so on. Now the run in has been completed (2000km) and oil has been changed and all. Its almost 29k on the odo. But i still have performance issues like after a bit of running the engine doesnt feel smooth. Like after a 8km ride the engine gets moderately heated up and the sound seems to come like harsh after that instead of the smooth one i get when its from cold start. The mechanic says the bike is in good condition but i dont really know if it is since i dont have much experience with UG3s. Anybody can shed some light on this? I have asked the Mech to check every possible thing. He says AFR is fine and the bike is in perfect condition and its normal for it to change sound but I'm not convinced..
And well.. As i have completed the initial run with the new mill, I want to mod for more performance and a better sound. It gives around 50+ kmpl as of now. What sorts of mods can i put on my bike without causing it any serious trouble for the coming 4-5years. Are the Free Flow air filters effective enough? My cousin bro got an Apache 160 with a KNN and he has upjetted too but that bike gives a hell of a torque. I dont know if its the almost redlining or the engine or the KNN. But it was really awesome and compared to that.. My p150 feels like a wounded person trying to sprint literally.. And im always worried of screwing up its engine. So.. What all can i do for a better performance. I know a better bike would do but im not in a position to afford one right now so all i can do is mod my P150 at the moment. If FF Air Filters are good, then which should i get? UNI,KNN or Green?
And I'm also interested in electrical hacks. I got an arduino and i can program. Can anybody direct me to some examples and brief guides on stuffs i require?
Thanks in advance.

You can get it done for around 4-5k....the performance will be more than satisfactory... pulsar and ct100 are different breeds....If you want good mileage you better go for platina or ct100
