i'd read some articles (in motomatters and mcn) saying that he is interested in continuing with yamaha further and that he wants to end his motogp career with yamaha (something he has said several times in the last few years actually)..however that he wants to keep his options open whenever the time of contracts comes up.

repsol honda will obviously be very inclined to bag lorenzo...99 and 93 in one team is a superteam.
Not sure article, else would have posted.... Would post if I find...
Makky:
He'll be second Rider for sure, with Marquez winning WC and all. I thinking Lorenzo going anywhere is far fetched...

yes i too think lorenzo will be no.2 rider in the repsol team..not just because MM is going to win the title this year, but even if somehow he doesnt, he is the golden boy of repsol, he has been so ever since he pretty much started racing bikes..he has stoner's crew and everything..will surely be the no.1 rider in the team..

plus, i personally dont want lorenzo to leave yamaha either

and besides, as said above, M1 and RCV are pretty opposite kind of bikes...unless lorenzo has wishes to win titles in different bikes (i dont think he cares about it tbh) and wishes so more than actually just winning titles anyhow, there's no point and reason of him wanting to switch bikes after riding the yamaha for so many years..

nevertheless, repsol will most likely try to bag him once again..they tried doing so once out of the blue stoner announced his retirement last year..it was reported that repsol offered him more money than yamaha and the team's no.1 status..he declined anyway...

and after pressurizing yamaha again and again for the seamless, he also seemed specially satisfied and happy with yamaha coming up with a nicely working seamless..if that hadnt been the case by mid-2014, maybe then he'd have thought of leaving yamaha..such is not the case,.

There is more to GP than meets the eye...no matter how much reasons or justification we give for Lorenzo not leaving Yamaha...at the end it can be any x y z reason when he signs up with a different team. Life is more complex than just bunch of facts. We being the audience can just think discuss and talk about of the stuff that we know, but what about the things that we don't?
None of the riders would want their current team to know that they are trying to leave. So yes we can discuss, but betting on the future than someone won't change their team...that's a risky affair. Who knows, maybe Dani signs up for Yamaha in exchange of Jorge . Don't comment on this please, it's just a wild thought.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Yes, I second that there are plenty of factors that come into picture when a contract expires. My opinion is purely based on how things stand on this very day.

BTW, PedROBO needs a new OS!

no one's betting on anything mate..however, some things/situations are more probable than the others, as things stand at the moment.

for all we know, lorenzo leaves yamaha for ducati , or better yet, aprilia or suzuki.

Lorenzo and Ducati?? That would be interesting ,aint it. I'd love to see him carrying corner speed on Ducati?? hehe.
But on a serious note, if Aprilia and Suzuki develop good bikes, that would be an awsome combo of rider and machine.

Are there any factors of Lorenzo not continuing with Yamaha??Was there any sort of intent??

I respect all your opinions guys, just giving my neutral word to the discussion.

for me there can be 2 reasons for Jorge to leave the Blue brand. 1st he can't beat Marc on Yamaha for the Title, he would at least want the same (if not better) machinery for coming years. Jorge is a tough nut, he won't settle for just 2 world titles, his hunger is more than that. If he had a better bike he might have had triple crowns to his name.

Anyways, my 2nd reason would be money. Same thing that prompted Cal to switch. Cal was getting something like 300,000 or 400,000 Euros or $ per annually. Correct me if I'm wrong. His current package is like what 2.5 million Euros or $. So that's a lot of money to take that risk. Considering the economic situation throughout the world, it's now one of the biggest factors for young riders to select their team. So Jorge in the next 4-5 years would be one of the old guys on the grid. I'm sure somewhere at the back of his mind he would have the money factor looming around.

Personally I don't mind who goes where, I'm not in favor of any brand. But I always wish as many riders to be competitive as possible. Especially the top guys. I would hate to see any of them struggling around.

Could not agree more mate. BUt if Stoner plans to make a come back it would be a tricky situation for Honda. Can they field more than 2 factory bikes?

Lorenzo is young and hungry for more. He wont be happy ceding title to his Jr. Marquez year after year. My guess is in case Lorenzo does not win title this year, all hell is gonna break loose at Yamaha, and it will be a make or break situation next year.

Hope Lorenzo keeps his cool and makes decision that is good for his career. Wont like to see another Hayden or Rossi in the making.

Actually, from what I understand, money was a secondary reason for Cal's switch. The theory is that Factories will not let Satellite team riders to win the title. Cal (understandably) got the step-son treatment in the Tech3 team. Ducati will revolve all around him (and Dovi). And even if it doesn't work out (which it most likely won't)... everyone's contract is up in 2014 anyways, so he can try to get a factory seat in 2015. He wasn't going to win the title with Tech3 anyways and would have got less money

I don't think "all hell is gonna break loose at Yamaha" if 99 doesn't win this year. He had to ride injured in 3 races and skip a race due to a couple of unforced mistakes that he made. And if he's within 20-30 points of Marquez at the end of year, I think he would be content. It will be Lorenzo, not Yamaha, that lost the 2013 championship for Lorenzo.

Last year when Lorenzo renewed his contract said he had a call from HRC and he even considered it but while making the decision his heart said Yamaha so he signed with Yamaha and in the same article he also said his intentions to complete is carrier with Yamaha has taken another step closer by signing a two year agreement with Yamaha. '
Jorge seriously want's to finish his carrier with Yamaha, if Yamaha continues to provide him a competitive bike
Also the probabilities are more next year because to switch as Dani is not a favorite kid for HRC there might be a huge amount playing to bring Lorenzo into Honda and retaining Repsol team as a all spanish team But whatever it is we have to wait for next silly season to start

He'll be more pissed tho, if Marquez continues to beat him. I mean. If Lorenzo finishes all the races infront of Marquez and still losses the title, he'll be atleast happy with himself. But if Marquez does what Marquez does, there will be some rattling for sure...

Thats my point. He will be pissed off if Marc lifts the championship this year. It would be wrong to say we know Lorenzo personally, but it is difficult for a championship winner to digest getting beaten by a rookie.

Marc is only going to get better with experience, and it will be herculean task for both Yamaha and Lorenzo to reign him.

SBKPlanet is a terribly biased site. They hate Stoner, don't care much for Rossi and only consider Hayden to be the epitome of modern MotoGP racing

I normally ignore them, though read this one, which is a Google Translation of an article which came in speedweek.de. And a bad translation that too!!!

Blame it on the electronics. As helpful as they are, a lot is taken away from the rider. The statement is from a double world champ and arguably the most gifted rider who retired a bit too early. We as mere mortals can only look at the statement and stay in awe.
