  • Re: MotoGP 2013 Season - Updates

I am just amazed the way Marquez pulled off the qualifying lap, he went little wide in the turn 1 and ruined the laptime in his second last lap, but the lap he rode after that was just phenomenal. He not only managed to grab pole but he set a new outright record as well. Boy! That was quite some qualifying!

Couldnt watch the MotoGP due to Shanghai open final on Ten sports! Damn! So cant really comment on the race.

Watched Moto 2 full, Redding have a title to loose, he was overtaken in the last lap there by giving further advantage to Espargaro, just 9 points separating the top 2, it will be mouth watering to watch as they battle it out!

You can try watching on ESPN HD or TEN Sports HD. These two channels always air the entire race without any breaks.

I left at 5:30 in the morning for my destination. Rode 500 km in 6 hours like a maniac to reach in time for the race on TV.

Reached destination in time to watch the Moto2 race and then see that their are not telecasting the MotoGP race. No HD. Was in some serious mood of murdering some TV guys!!!

Worked so hard and come up with nought. Only happy that it was a 'boring' race. Really irritated that missed the Lorenzo-Marquez battle. If anybody find a clip of that on Youtube. Please don't forget to post it

Yup. I fully expect MM to destroy all competition at PI, despite the fact that it's a Yamaha track (stoner made it look otherwise).
My top 6 for the race :
            1. Marquez
            2. Lorenzo
            3. Rossi
            4. Pedrosa/Crutchlow
            5. Crutchlow/Pedrosa
            6. Bautista

All of this assuming Stoner doesn't decide to race for Bradl all of a sudden (Rossi, Marquez and Crutchlow have urged Stoner on for a wildcard).

This just in : Hayden's limbo for 2014 ends. Confirmed to be riding the Honda production racer for 2014 (Aspar team). Big financial backing from American Honda as well.

yeah that's not gonna happen anyway almost certainly...firstly because i am pretty sure he doesnt really want to participate in a race all of a sudden, secondly he has no race fitness which is another reason why he probably wont want to race, thirdly stoner racing, albeit on a satellite honda, at PI means there's a good chance of him taking points off marquez and i dont think HRC would want to risk that outcome..lastly, livio suppo has reportedly (in some european website, german or italian i think) said in straight words that there's no chance stoner would be asked or insisted by HRC to race at PI..

i cant find any link which says they urged for a wildcard to stoner, can you please post it ?

at least in the post-QP press conference, it didnt really appear to be so...all 3 of them said the usual answer that it'd be nice to have him race at his home track..marquez said he'd like that because it'd be a chance and honour for him to race against another world champion..rossi said he'd then hope to be in a better shape himself because stoner is always very fast at PI, and cal said he didnt like the idea of casey racing as it'd mean one position further down for himself (everyone loling), even though it'd be fun to have him back and if he really comes he hoped to be really fast himself..

He's still racing on 4 wheels, so he still would have a reasonable level of fitness. I'm sure that wouldn't be a factor if he wanted to come back for 1 race. Yes, Suppo did tell a French website that "There is zero chance of casey being a wildcard entrant at Philip Island", but we've seen weirder things in the past

As for HRC, I don't think they'd be too concerned about Marc Marquez' points tally. Unless he takes himself out in 2 races, Stoner (or anyone) taking points off him won't really matter all that much.

This one's for you Monk. I would have killed someone by now if that happened if me (just exaggerating ). I is possible to start up a poll on whether Marc will beat the Lap record at PI this year or not?

i bet Marquez would be itching to race Stoner at PI if only to see if he's faster than him or not. ;-)
Personally, i really want to see a Marquez-Stoner duel !

So, this seems to the issue -

The Aprilia engine is handicapped by the spec software, as the engine is designed to make use of the butterfly exhaust valve for improved mid-range, but Magneti Marelli have not implemented software control of this yet, nor are they likely to in the near future, other algorithms being given priority. With the functionality list being determined by the popularity of an item, requests for functionality to help one specific engine technology tend to be put to the back of the queue.

Here are some interesting comments by our own GP riders. Cal and Colin as their usual self
20-year-old Marc Marquez who took over from the Australian at Repsol Honda explained: “For me it would be interesting because it’s another world champion so it would be good to ride with Casey, but this is a decision for Honda. But for me it would be a dream come true to ride with another world champion.”
Britain’s Cal Crutchlow joked: “I told Marc to say ‘yes’, but I say ‘no’ because maybe it means I’m one place further back! It would be good fun if he can come and ride. First of all, I’m sorry for Stefan, it was a real unfortunate crash, but if Casey comes – hopefully he doesn’t go too fast!”
Nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi also commented about the potential Stoner return: “I hope to be in a great shape next weekend! I mean if Stoner comes, try to fight with him, because at Phillip Island he’s very fast but it looks like we are not so far.”
Twitter contributed towards the speculation regarding Stoner, but it wasn’t only fans tweeting about the possibility of the double World Champion returning. Current MotoGP rider Colin Edwards tweeted: “Grab ur shit and get to the Island @Official_CS27 There’s a Honda available (not that u need it, Ducati was good enough for u there)”

Update on Hayden, he's out of engines and will either use an older engine or a new one along with starting from pit lane.

I really want to see Marquez win the championship at PI so that we can all see him go batshit crazy in the final 2 races. Now that he's reasonably comfortable and confident on the bike and he won't have the pressure of the world championship, I believe he will go even faster still.
