Re: MotoGP 2013 Season - Updates
Yamaha have a seamless gearbox ready and it seems that they are interested on some mileage on it with real testing. They are expected to gain at least a couple of hundredths of time per lap. Rumor mill says that Yamaha are also trying some engine in preparation for next year where the M1 engine and chassis lease scheme gets off.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Re: MotoGP 2013 Season - Updates
This I noticed.
The RC213V had wings like the Ducati.
Camera's were placed at amazing positions.
Good presence of mind by Dani to adjust the camera in between.

Exactly! This is a great onboard, never seen an motogp onboard with such a view(s).Originally posted by R-series View PostThe RC213V had wings like the Ducati.

There were certain things about body position, foot movement and picking up the bike on corner exit that i never was 100% sure how they did it even after watching many videos countless times but got confirmed after watching this video. Note Marcus picking up the bike at the exit by pulling on the inside bar while simultaneously moving his body low and to the inside "flicking the bike up".Last edited by incipient; 08-06-2013, 11:11 PM.

Nah man, from what i seen (pics and videos) Doohan had a totally crossed up riding style.Originally posted by Braumabull View PostWas Marc style like Doohan???
From what i've read or observed:
Marc certainly seem to hang-out more than others also more low and to the inside of the bike.
Notice that Rossi is compact on the bike - elegant with economy of movement.
Looking at a Stoner qualifying onboard video from 2k11 i noticed that he is very square on the bike even during hard braking just before corner entry, just amazing, everything he did looked utterly effortless, i mean in the same video looking at Dani one can tell that he was really pushing to the limit but Stoner is something else.
Otherwise, all the MotoGP riders seem to almost ride exactly the same way. There are more variations to be found in Moto2 and Moto3. Watch a superbike race footage for comparison there is often a big difference among riders in body position and riding style.Last edited by incipient; 08-06-2013, 11:14 PM.

+1 on Marc hanging out more. In fact if you observe he hangs out more than most. Rossi surely has a very compact style and Jorge is somewhat similar except that Rossi really gets lower than Jorge. All beautiful to watch.Originally posted by incipient View PostNah man, from what i seen (pics and videos) Doohan had a totally crossed up riding style.

One thing that baffles me and many others who ride the bike on trackdays is the way these riders handle body position during braking. As a basic principle of riding, the rider is not supposed to transfer weight on the handlebar and hence the knee-thigh grip is so important to prevent one from sliding all the way up to the tank. If you observe these motogp riders, they do not grip the tank under braking, nor do they appear to be loading up the handlebar.Never argue with an idiot. I don't think Yamaha would bother if it was only worth a couple of hundredths :PBajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

R-series: Hadn't seen it. Thanks!
Well, note that satellite M1s have Ohlins and Brembo whereas satellite RCVs (without HRC support) have Showa and Nissin.
BTW, old school physics never dies - Vernier caliper!
