Agreed with point #2. But they won't run an A380 where on a route where it wouldn't run at least 80% full. Won't be feasible enough.

Point #1 can be argued, but the fact that an Airbus A380 can do a flight from New York to Hong Kong (A distance of almost 13k km) on a single fill cannot be refuted. Also, it is not that you can fly the plane till its tank is empty. (In that it would come crashing to the ground ) So there will be fuel still left when the thing lands. Anyways, USTC for an airbus A380 is a cruise speed of 0.85 Mach(about 900 km/h or 560 mph at cruising altitude).

@Prince I don't tour with pillion. And certainly not at the speed mentioned above

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Pune has the most filthy public transport in the whole country. If there isn't a railway line passing by your place then the life really becomes a misery.
Buses are 10 to 15% more expensive than running a pulser. And add to that, that double time is wasted by using buses. There are only a thousand buses running (in running condition.)

You gotta be real brave to use them. I remember my collage days, I used to had right foot on the lowest step and right arm holding on to something. Rest of the body left hanging outside dodging the traffic. It's no place for women either. Sexual assault goes unnoticed.

Autos are expensive too. 10rs for a Km. I'll have to shell out 600 daily to use them.

      • IOC mulls R1.35/l petrol price hike

New Delhi: Consumers could brace for another hike in the price of petrol by about R1.35 a litre. State-owned fuel marketer Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is weighing the price elasticity of petrol to decide whether to go for another hike to reduce its losses from selling the fuel below cost. IOC chairman RS Butola indicated that the company was waiting for the right time for a moderate price increase that would not cause demand to fall.

        • Guys great news,
Shell has reduced fuel prices by 4 or 6 rs.

Few weeks back I filled super at ~78 but yesterday it was at 73.3. Shell guy also acknowledged about this.
At the same station normal shell is at 70.

Shell has nothing to do with gov't. They decide their own pricing. Gov't decides only for HPCL, BPCL, IOC.

                            • i sometimes wonder, if oil companies are suffering thousands of crore in losses every year, how are they managing to still run their companies. with this much losses, they should have been shut down long ago... can someone explain the missing link??

                                Thats a billion dollar question.

Actually the real fact is that these oil companies are not fully private. These are PPP i.e. comes under the government. So in short even the government is supporting (or whatever) these companies. I guess you got the drift now.

So this PPP protects these oil companies from being shut down.
