Emphasizing on the bold word, the above sentence surely brings a great smile on my face..(and if u have good memory, then u will know why?? )

But someone in the 2013 bike speculation thread very confidently said and linked some "Not so trustrable" sites that bajaj wud not be producing Faired bikes, and have shelved the idea of introducing P200 SS in the near future. P375 wud also be a Naked bike like 200NS

Can u please throw some light on this..

I though BAL was always gung ho about the 200NS to never have the full faired version and that duties to be done by thier next big bike.

Even if its faired it doesn't sound realistic to me that it has to cost more than that of the duke.

Besides Duke 200 is almost 1.5 lakh OTR now. If Bajaj prices it below 2 lakh ex-show room, sure there will be lot of takers. But, that doesn't mean Duke can't be priced above 2 lakhs ex-show room, it's got everything to be priced above 2 lakhs. Why CBR250, even Ninja 250 will find it tough to convince buyers once Duke 390 is here.
So you want it to be priced above 2L?? Just to show its premium tag wrt CBR250 !!!
Why would Bajaj care about the effects on NINJA??Enthusiasts who have money, would still go for NINJA....

@Satyen: Taking into consideration Yamaha R15's fairing(the most well 'indegeniously' built fairing), I dont think Pulsar's would be any more expensive. You can expect atmost Rs. 12k more(inclusive of the extra R&D).

The Pulsar FS or SS whatever it is called, is ready! It is already being ridden on the Bajaj test track.

People keep seeing some big, famous designers at Bajaj. Like Glynn Kerr and Edgar Heinrich. I was shocked when I heard that a very famous Japanese designer was also a consultant for Bajaj!! None other than the father of the Fireblade, Tadao Baba!!!!

Oh that's a very pleasant news. I hope this move from Bajaj will start the Faired Bikes War in India. Rejoice Customers.

Actually it can end the war for ever IF any such faired war is supposed to happen unless hero-eric bring us a Twin!!

NO. I don't want it to be priced above 2L, that said let's be realistic here. We are expecting a 375cc single with ABS to be priced 30-50k premium over it's 200cc sibling without ABS. Is that realistic? Duke 200 itself is now @1.5 lakhs OTR. Is it not reasonable to assume Duke 390 would cross 2 lakh OTR? May be just like Duke 200, Bajaj might start with an agressive introductory pricing, but sooner or later this will be above 2 lakh OTR or even ex-showroom. And yes, there will be plenty of buyers for this kind of bike even at that price.

Just an after thought, if it is 250 cc with 35 ps power, may be 30-50k premium is fine. but we are talking about 45 ps, which again is almost double that of Duke 200. I think more work is involved here, may be a bit more then plain parts sharing. Just feels like we are over-simplifying things after getting used to Bajaj's pricing with Pulsar/Discover series.

They are saying on their Indian site in a euro slang: "390 Duke– nowhere will you find more motorcycle per euro"

but for me that means 2.1 - 2.2 L for ABS. on ROAD as special introductory price, to see how boys jumps over it.

                      • I'll book that without batting an eyelid. I'm saving up for Duke 200, why not wait some more time if I can get Duke 390 with ABS at that price.

The faired Pulsar is not a 200. It is more than 300, that's what I was told. So must be the 375 derived from KTM Duke 390 [373.2 cc].
                          Based on hearsay:
It is a very muscular faired bike. Lots of cool surfaces and panels. Looks like a big bike.
My only concern is single cylinder engine and the un-exciting sound that it makes.

Oh... That's a real good news for me.
Had the P200 faired one been released, then i would be included in that group who "chews their finger, and tells*sour grapes*"

Now, with a 375 cc Faired pulsar, I can start saving up more.!!!

As for the un-exiting sound, well I don't know what of sound u prefer/need, but my 200NS after the 1st service makes a nice BASSY sound from >4K RPM. Getting addicted to it day by day.
But yes, a single cylinder can not match up to the sound/performance of a twin cylinder!!

By your logic FZ/FZ-S should have been history by now since NS is already here and unlike CBR250 and Duke 390 both belongs to the same design form i.e streetfighter

                              • Just a thought, the Duke 200 as exciting it is to ride. Think about the fact that it weighs 125 Kgs makes 25PS, by that P/W ratio the bike should blazing fast in comparison to say the CBR250 which makes almost the same power and weighs 30Kgs more. But that is far from reality!

I'd take the 44Hp figure with a slight pinch of salt.
