though the figures might be lil optimistic .. i have seen people posting of getting 16-17 kmpl from 1000 mills of fireblade.
why cant a 390 single make 35+ on a controlled highway run.

another thing i see is that it shows FE figures as per the current situation so if he is riding on highway with controlled speed
it might be showing 38 however with mixed riding city+highway and diffrent riding habits it might settle down somewhere to
    29-33..

most of the N650 owners quoted FE between 27-30.. that being a 650 though a long stroke motor still able to manage it.
i am sure a single 250 cc less will be able to make decent figures.. after all bajaj never gave a fuel guzzler.

      agreed
but considering the way test bikes are abused the millage figure is in the pic is still strange . May be this test piece is only for mileage test under normal riding conditions.

Come on, 38 kmpl on a highway is totally realistic figure for 375cc Duke.

I did lots of milage tests on highway on my Duke 200. This is all after riding at same speed for 15 min or more.
At constant 100 kmh I get 40 kmpl.
At around 70 kmh I get almost 50 kmpl.
At constant 130 kmh though, mileage drops to quite low 28 kmpl.

In real life city and village riding conditions with lots and lots of stops and mostly low gear riding with lots of ripping in between I get around 27-28 kmpl. In a more normal city environment with less stops and more normal riding I get 32 kmpl or even more.

So, if this guy was riding his Duke 390 at 80-90 kmh on a highway then 38 kmpl is totally believable and realistic figure. And I'm sure it'll be able to squeeze even more kmpl at more optimum speed. But then again, who wants to ride a Duke at 70 kmh on a highway??
Actually I believe Duke 390 will have better mileage at 130 kmh than Duke 200's 28 kmpl...

And btw, from my experience, that mileage meter on a Duke is actually quite good for a ride at more constant speed because it measures petrol consumption every 800m, and it measures it accurately.
However, for a city ride with lots of stops and gear and speed changes you can't expect ANY meter in the world to tell you a realistic figure. For such riding style the only way to measure mileage is a good old tankfull to tankfull...

          • @MODs : Why a separate thread? Same discussion in progress in the other 390 thread. Multiple threads will lead to confusion IMO/

            • Arre come ON guys!! forget about the damn mileage man..!!

Yogesh did you see the bike accelerate? How does it GO??!!!?????!!???? Did you see roll on acceleration from 80 onwards (since you said u guys were doing 80-90s and the Duke was ahead of you)?

Any info about the performance? Considering the insane and maaad power to weight ratio the thing should disappear into the horizon with an absolute single twist!! Any snaps of the rear sprocket? It would be interesting to get an idea about the gearing by looking at the size of rear sprocket.

And tell us how does it sound man!! Does it sound feral and guttural like the baby Duke or is it more refined! Bassy?

More info from the eye witness please!!!!

To be honest, I was really overwhelmed that i forgot to ask about performance.Sound was similar, you can check exhaust note on video released by ktm.We were doing 80-90 and he was already ahead of us so did no see roll on acceleration.

                • Just what I expected to see from KTM, but I feel that 38 km/l figure to be a bit exaggerated.

According to sources, Duke 390 will have ABS as standard for India. Not only ABS, but it will also come with Handguards as standard fitment.

Expect Bikes to hit showrooms in May/Early June.
Unofficial bookings have already commenced at some KTM showrooms.

Pricing should not be more than 2.5l On Road Delhi.

It is going to be crazy couple of months for bike enthusiasts with the Ninja 300 just around the corner and the Duke 390 in May!!

Didn't miss it, its much needed change over the current MRF's. Some are speculating that the Indian version will be shod with MRF's. I HIGHLY doubt that. It will definitely come with Metzelers.

But, the prices of the tyres have to come down. Costing about 12K a tyre right now, its out of reach even for people putting down 2.5L for a bike.

Well even the export 125/200 Duke's get MRF rubber regardless to where it's sold... therefore METZELERS for the Indian 390 Duke? Why Not?

Can't comment on pricing.. but I'd get one can't have his cake and eat it at the same time. Probably one'll have to pay high if he needs better stuff.
