that's strange.. as far as i know, the difference between the on road price of two wheelers in Delhi and Pune is only around 2000-3000Rs. which is contradictory to what the two dealers who quoted 2.2L in Delhi told me. Well the staff that manages the stalls at corporate locations generally don't know much about the product. The dealer would always have information that's more reliable.
Anyways, 2.5L is my threshold, I can't go beyond that anyways...hopefully I don't have to compromise as far as the price is concerned.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Where in Delhi have you booked your bike?Originally posted by R-series View Postthat's strange.. as far as i know, the difference between the on road price of two wheelers in Delhi and Pune is only around 2000-3000Rs. which is contradictory to what the two dealers who quoted 2.2L in Delhi told me. Ive booked mine in KTM Lajpat Nagar and was quoted a price of under Rs. 2.5 lac on road.
I guess 2.2 might not b possible since we r expecting ABS as well.
BTW Official bookings have not commenced till date so no clarification on prices.

Well said...Originally posted by aeroblade View PostI think 2.5L is really apt pricing... It is nearly twice the bike. I just hope people don't just get carried away with that much power. The service center over here is filled with wrecked duke 200s :|
Just to requote an age old saying "with greater power comes greater responsibility" - we have power and we have people who can lay their hands on that power. But do those people have the capability to handle that power responsibly? Every day I come across so many posers without even the most basic safety gear like a helmet - zipping maniacally through traffic and threatening the safety and sanity of other riders/drivers.
BTW, are bookings already open?Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Lol. This bike is EXACTLY what my riding style demandsOriginally posted by tanay View PostYour riding style + this bike = danger
anyway don't you want the first batch to be tested and the flaws ironed out before you get one?
I am never buying a bike from the first lot. Or even second lot. Made that mistake once, never again.
Will wait for a few months for the hungama to die down. (And hopefully by then there will be some news about the bigger Honda's)
Officially, not yet. Some places like Delhi the dealers have started bookings.Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostBTW, are bookings already open?
But technically till the bike is launched and therefore a price announced its not really an official booking.Last edited by Praful; 03-20-2013, 11:56 AM._________________________

I really don't think 2.5 Lakh on-road will be a good price. What is in this bike that will take its price so high as compared to Duke 200? It looks exactly like Duke 200, so no differentiation in terms of looks. It shares most of its components with Duke 200. The only different features are engine and ABS and I don't think these two things alone should take the price high by a lakh !! Of course, Bajaj can price it anyway they want, but 2.5 is a little too much in my opinion.

Its not just engine and abs.Originally posted by hss View PostI really don't think 2.5 Lakh on-road will be a good price. New bits
1. Engine- this isn't a bored out 200. Its a whole new engine.
2. Abs- Honda charges 20k for just abs that can't be switched off.
3. Frame - the basic geometry may be similar but the material used is different.
3.suspension- to manage extra oomph and the weight. Suspension are different as well.
Hence in 1 lakh more u get a lot of things. Its not expensive its a bargain IMO. I if they would have worked on the styling it could have been the whole package. But again I don't like the styling on the 690 if they were going to head that way. 200 styling is much better(again IMO)Last edited by Ab13; 03-20-2013, 02:28 PM.

From my experience most of the duke riders I've come across are hatchlings. They just got their license and they just gas the **** out of the engine, three of which were brand new bikes that had not even received its registration yet! One even flipped me off after overtaking me... :|Originally posted by bbsrailfan View PostWell said...

Are you serious? People are willing to pay 3.30 for a 250 cc, 33 bhp unit and 1.80 for a 250 single with abs but it is too much to pay just 2.5 for a 390cc 44 bhp unit? Like i mentioned earlier that is almost twice the bike and hence the increased price.
Besides I feel it would keep most of these hatchlings away till they are mature enough to ride these.Last edited by aeroblade; 03-20-2013, 02:57 PM.

1. abs that can be switched off
2. Metzeler tyres
3. Orange frame and wheels (yes am willing to pay extra for that if they offer me an option)
Duke 200 that goes by 1.4 lacs delhi, add 30 k for abs (switchable), 10 k for tyres, frame and suspensions components, not to mention engine, 1 lac premium is ok. though i do wish they keep wheel rim size same as d200 so we can put mrf rubber down the line, if it proves to be tyre destroyer. dont want a bill of 15 k every year for tyres.

And, what exactly is different?Originally posted by Ab13 View Post3.suspension- to manage extra oomph and the weight. Suspension are different as well.
At present, a single tyre from Metzelers costs 12K. So a tyre change will set you back by 24K atleast. And being soft compound I don't see this lasting more than 15K kms at the most.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postdont want a bill of 15 k every year for tyres.
