re: Pulsar 350/375 Spy pics: xBhp News
Well, I don't understand this one bit! why 300cc, when you can get 375 cc for the same price? besides have you heard of "blue sea" strategy? Bajaj has been following it ever since it launched Pulsar and tasted success. It's always wise to start your own segment instead of launching a me too product in an already existing segment. If you are just launching a product in an existing segment like 100cc, all you can do is take away some 5% from the leader in that segment. That's why Splendor is still leader in 100cc segment, not because competition is not upto the mark. It's the same reason why Pulsar 150cc is leading 150cc segment. So, it's always a wise decision to go for a new segment rather than launching a product in existing segment.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostLet's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

That was never my point mate.. why i mentioned that was because they are learning from ktm and thats why they are able to bring up this 375 beast.. unlike others.. they dont have options other than doing rnd themselves in which bajaj saved time thanks to ktm..Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostWell, I don't understand this one bit! why 300cc, when you can get 375 cc for the same price? besides have you heard of "blue sea" strategy? Its not others arent trying.. right?? Hero is also doing rnd for higher cc and i got this info from a reliable source.. but they will be launching it only next year.. i am not starting a brand war but just trying to say dont criticize the other manufacturers.. each have their own benchmark and they are doing great in those segments.. i would love to see all the indian brands to lead over the international brands..
I asked about 250 or 300cc for a reason which you guys didnt understand i guess..
Cheers

Fresh spy pics of Pulsar 375 appear on the internet
Though there are hardly any details visible in these photos, but from the tail bag on one of the bikes and the location (Ooty, as stated in the blog) looks like the folks at Bajaj are testing the bike on long rides now.

Re: Pulsar 350/375 Spy pics: xBhp News
According to what I can see, they both must be 200ss or one should be a 200ss or another a 375 cos if they both are 200ss then why the hell Bajaj would test them with a 200ns in the first place. . ? I think the first one with the KTM (which I think might be a 390 in disguise) is supposed to be a 375 and the latter with the NS is supposed to be 200ss. . .

Well it looks like these are intentionally leaked pics. Otherwise why can't the photographer take the closeup shots of these parked bikes? makes no sense at all, on top of that there isn't much you can make out of these pics apart from tail section which seems to be modified a bit. Bajaj is rigorously testing them, launch could be at auto expo, if not at least unveiling could happen in auto expo.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Re: Pulsar 350/375 Spy pics: xBhp News
I have a feeling that these are neither 200 or 375 cc bikes. I think Bajaj could pop out a sub 300cc motorcycle, something like 280cc which could be coming from their own R&D which will keep costs comparable to the 200NS.

Re: Pulsar 350/375 Spy pics: xBhp News
I don't think Bajaj's R&D department is good enough to create a 300+cc engine that can compete with the established players. They're very likely to depend on KTM for the mechanical bits, especially after seeing the praise 200cc NS engine got over their own 220cc engine. With the RC390 coming our way, Bajaj simply can't compromise on the quality of their BIG bike, especially on the mechanical side.
One of the bikes in the spy pics is likely to be the 200SS. I heard that the base variant of the 200SS will be launched without FI and ABS. If this is correct, the price should be around 1 lakh
. Makes sense too. They don't need FI since they have triple spark and none of the competitors offer ABS. Then why not offer a non-ABS version with a lower price tag to wipe out the competition?

I think I read in a auto mag long back that the stars ahead team made a 400cc engine with the 180 and 150 pulsars back in early 2000s.Originally posted by raging_bull View PostI don't think Bajaj's R&D department is good enough to create a 300+cc engine that can compete with the established players. So its fairly possible that bajaj could make a bigger engine on their own but its unlikely now since they have access to ktm tech.

It was observably loud mention by many people that bajaj stuff is all taken from a European made Ktm bike. without that it must be no better than shit.
Now the comparison with 220 which was originally came out in 2007. So beating own product with 20 cc less is no big deal. To dish out just New stickers and no real improvement was not bajaj way of doing it.
To feel that progress one just need to ride a 180 classic and a 220.
The huge learning they made is apparent.
Last day I was comparing stripped 200ns with stripped 220 , the difference us so much that I won't mind riding it with no plastic on the newer bike.
I am glad that nobody is saying that the new perimeter frame is stallen from Austria!
Its very simple you buys stakes in a company for some reason.when you have a made in India co developed 373 sitting on the corner, it's next to foolish to build a new 300 from scratch.
Now for the ownership of the 373 motor how is that? Let's try to figur out:
50% ktm + 50% bajaj
Since bajaj owns 47% of ktm,
26.5 % ktm + 23.5% Bajaj + 50% bajaj
26.5% ktm + bajaj (50+ 23.5)%
26.5% ktm + 73.5% Bajaj
-------------------------
So other stake holders owns 26.5 % virtual stakes in this motor and bajaj owns the rest.
Definitely bajaj made huge tech leap because of ktm. Without that they might have lost the grip completely vs japs. Just like what happened when cbr came.
Now bajaj is back in the business. This what happens when the guy on top got brain to think ahead.
Doesn't matter who made it as far as I am getting a nice ride at tempting price.

Re: Pulsar 350/375 Spy pics: xBhp News
I was not questioning Bajaj's ability to create a big engine but the question is how good it will be when compared to the time tested products of the other companies. We are talking about companies like Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki etc here. KTM has the experience and expertise. So Bajaj is more likely to use it.
And the difference between a small engine and a large engine is not just size. Larger engines are more complex and it isn't very easy to create a reliable one. I was saying that a company like Bajaj with little experience with large engines would not try to experiment with their own R&D for their flagship product.
Btw, I'm wondering what the price would be. The RC390 will always be a more tempting option. Around 1.75 lakh? The best things in life are dangerous: Motorcycles and Women
