^^ what the.... come to think of it; I was just fighting with a colleague of mine about it's launch when he quoted one of 'his' acquaintance working in TVS, Hosur about a 2017 release. Sigh, unfortunate turn of events

Why is everyone so hell bent on top speed? Typical Indian mentality, if its more cc it has to touch more speed. When would "so called" bikers grow up here

Nothing majorly wrong in taking into account the top-speed that the bike can do.
It definitely helps in categorizing the bike more aptly prior purchase/suggestion.
Those with more need-for-speed will stay out.

Personally, 145kph for a naked 300cc is decent speed but on the open highway i know the right hand itches to twist more

                      Cheers.

Thats because depending upon the top speed a bike can reach, the comfortable speed for cruising can be determined. You cannot ride a bike on top speed for whole day instead its the cruising speed that matters, where the engine isnt stressed and still offers a decent speed.

Bikers have grown up already, but some need the vision to understand what asking for top speed implies.

Answer on my last query of the smoothness/refinement of the engine. Now dont quote me wrong, its absolutely the uploaders view, it can differ when we see more reviews.

I can agree with you partially.. some people have different views when they talk of top speed. I for one dont need top speed. I would love to own a bike which can ride comfortably at 100 -120 kmph on highways depending on the road situations while my ZMR does 90ish without much strain to the engine.. on the other hand. People ask for top speed for street racing purposes... yes. They do exist..

While at it. I would any time prefer a multi cylinder engine over single pot

Moreover I'm saving for the Akula 310 aka RTR300. Same product, less service costs, faired at a much lesser price point.
