The first Pulsar was designed (engine and looks) in Japan. Bajaj hired an engineering firm for this job. I am not sure of the later models. Since the 180 is a totally different machine now (in the context of P180 only) , we should have a ownership UG4 180 thread. It is interesting because refinement levels have gone up further according to the test ride reports of various magazines.
