Anyways, I guess they used there own premises, in turn saving a lot of money...

So the marketing was also done... along with money saving.....!
And there wasn't a pretty chick visible in AD, please don't forget that part.

      • What is the problem with the Honda and HH fanboys??
Talking for 2 to 3 pages about a stupid tv advertise??
Well TV adverts are as it is dumb.
As if HH and Honda ads were ever good.

All I want to say is(this is especially for honda and HH fanboys)
Stop talking crap about this bike and get out and take a test ride.
You'll see what others are talking about.
This one is the SMOOTHEST Pulsar ever. And you can't deny that.
This coming from Bajaj is a very big thing.
Instead of praising them for their work on their bike all I see here is people saying the words exclusivity, bad publicity gimmicks, and tv ads.

Yes, the smoothness of the UG IV is appreciable, and is a very good job by the R&D of BAJAJ. No doubt that they've provided the customers a good VFM product, but the thing is, they've played with the trust of their loyal customers by providing the parts of the elder siblings to the lower siblings, ultimately killing the resale value and the exclusivity of their existing vehicles.

They could have used some all-new modifications for face lifting their existing younger siblings.

I've asked the question to Mr.Insanebiker. From your unpleasing habit of favoring them, I guess you are the greatest die-hard fan of BAL, or you've been hired by them to do so.

            Man, I salute your dedication

Hmmmm. Why are people who are not affected cribbing?

Okay, now coming to ur point lets take the Honda Unicorn.
The current lot is called the "4th Gen" Unicorn.

And i beleive it s called so because they are "Upgrades".

Can u tell me how many parts differ from the 1st Gen to the current 4th gen?

Nobody cribbed about these kinda upgrades but now when it comes to Bajaj , everyone is like to crib about it!

Same goes for HH, re- stickered , red paint "upgrades"

Maybe, but they need to maintain something common among all siblings for the "Pulsar" brand image.
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

Most of the modifications done to the P180 have been aimed at improving the overall riding experience. The clipons and rearsets are there for comfort.
And lets just remind ourselves what the P180 is meant for:Power for people who like to flaunt it.
If the P180 had an R written on it somewhere, maybe then I would have been cribbing about the weight and how it just couldn't go around corners......but wait....it can. Just like the Fz16 only better.
Let's just give Bajaj credit for a product well upgraded. This means they are thinking about their customers and taking all the feedback positively even from the bashers. It's what I expect from HH,Honda,Yamaha or TVS.
Test ride it. As a former P200 owner, who thought that his P200 was as smooth as Bajaj can get,I was bowled over.

And people here are saying that the mods should have been unique and new and etc.....

Well at the cost they are offering all that, you can consider this to be more than enough. For new designs new design teams would have to be appointed. More cost. Then the UG4 wouldnt have been priced so well.
This is exactly what I am saying.
The new bike wont by any means reduce the resale value of current p200 220 owners' bikes.
                  Obviously there's a big difference.This is 180cc and your's is a 200 cc DUH!
Obviously ppl would pay more for a 200 cc with oil cooler than they would pay for the 180 w/o oil cooler.

                  • With this upgrade, like any other company that's focussed on bettering their balance sheets, BAL has provided the consumer an excellent and VFM upgraded 180.
IMHO,there's nothing wrong in giving higher segment features in the cheaper offerings if its gonna improve their sales figures. No company worth its salt would screw its fate for the sake of the customer who has purchased an earlier model.
BAL didn't vex the guy on the 180 classic by launching the ditsy series. They just enticed the lot to upgrade. And they're doing the same now as well albeit by nicking the 200's components.
Even the part-sharing is gonna boost BAL's bottomline as a good part of the assembly line is now gonna be shared between the 150, 180, 200 and the 220.

Now all that remains is for me to get my arse over to Khivraj Bajaj for a TD of the latest 180 !

                    Cheers !

EDIT: And could we stop the HH bashing for the red-paint extravaganza?
That statement is getting a little grey behind the ears methinks
They seem to think that the colour signifying danger is gonna draw in the crowds and so far two of my buddies have skipped buying the LE Hunk thanks to the very same disgusting paintjob.
Us harping about it isn't gonna change a thing. Not a day goes by with me thanking my lucky stars that HH didn't consider the Zma for such treatment. Else i would've had to sacrifice purchasing one of the best bikes Ive ever ridden.
Thank you HH for sparing the Zma !!

Yes, P180 is the best VFM bike in India right now, but there will always be a subconscious thinking in a P200 owners' mind that their bike is no more an exclusive looking, when he passes by a p180ug4

                      • my question is hows the new meter needle??cause even the apache has a faster needle movement than the pulsar.so any differences there??

the needle of the ug3 feels slow somewhat.

                        and yes i have ug3.

Bro, any pulsar, say even an UG1 can be modded to look like a 200 by a road side mechanic within a day. Just give him the spares and u have it. It's no big deal.

But yes, some "Probikers" think that their exclusivity is stolen even if a 150/180 guy installs the split grab raiils of the 200/220. Let them go to hell They act as if they own copyright/patent for the split grab rails

Do u mean the needle's movement during the self check of the instrument console? Yes, Apache RTR s needle completes the self check faster!

And AFAIK, the change is only for the background colour. No functional changes with the new dials

                            • The latest edition of Autocar has done a complete test of the bike.

+ve :- Refinement, mileage, goodies as usual, price.

-ve :- looks same as elder bro's, Gear box still does not provide positive feel, low end torque ain't gr8, the speedo which was flawless in the previous version now shows huge speedo errors.

Hmm, I guess the RTR revvs way quicker than the pulsar's thats why the needle moves quickly .
