    1 PS = 0.986 Bhp
If you've noticed, the engine power mentioned these days is in PS.. The same when mentioned in Bhp is lower (than the figures in PS)..

    My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

1bhp = 0.986 Ps and the source is below.
Horsepower - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(This unit (German: = horse strength) is no longer a statutory unit, but is still commonly used in Europe, South America and Japan, especially by the automotive and motorcycle industry. It was adopted throughout continental Europe with designations equivalent to the English "horsepower", but mathematically different from the British unit. It is defined by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)[7] in Braunschweig as exactly:
        1 PS = 75 kilopond-meters per secondN0.98632 hp (SAE) )
Back to 180 ug4 discussions please.
        Pradeep, unfortunately Wiki is wrong

What tibby said is 100 % right.

        1 pferdestarke = 0.9863201 horsepower

Hey sai, Observe my post properly man... actually i had written it wrong in first line but wikipedia quotes it properly only... even that says 1ps = 0.986bhp.

I test drove the 180 ug4, in fact thrashed it in first three gears
The lesser torque can be easily felt in lower rpm's, it doesnt exert strong pulling characteristics as the ug3 exerts from as low as 2k rpm, its now more like the RTR-FI, strong pulling starts from 5k unlike 4k of ug3's but its slightly more refined and sure footed than the ug3's courtesy fat rear.
The stance is comfortable yet sporty unlike the RTR's which puts a lots of weight on the wrist.
The wiring is changed now and also the CDI runs on DC (not just headlights)
            Fun Starts at Redline!!!

            • Guys, Tibby is right and wiki is also right...ok....BTW, how does Bajaj makes incremental 'hikes' in power every upgrade ?? Technical answer/s is what I want ?

              • Guys, don't you think, an increase of 0.5bhp and decrease in torque by 1Nm and at the same time increase of weight by 3-4 kgs adds up to lesser overall power compared to UG3...?

Power may add up but the power delivery characteristics of the engine will change. UGIII had this whole lot of torque at low rpm. So we got an instant surge at lower rpms, but as we increase the rpm, the pull from the engine thins out. But if we compare it to the Pulsar Classic, it is somewhat the opposite. The bike does not have great lower end torque. But keep going, and once you cross 5k rpm, the engine pulls strongly to the redline. And that is how this engine is gonna be. A sort of return to the roots of Pulsar series, but a hell lot smoother.

If u had read the BI test report, u would have very well understood

They have made a few mods to the exhaust and the engine.

Bajaj engineers have worked on the exhaust intake, retuned the silencer as well as tweaked the valve timing to get more juice out of the unit. The maximum power comes at an additional 500rpm, i.e., at 8500rpm.

                      (From BI)

Thanks dude, just wondering why they didn't work on getting more juice for earlier upgrades.

Simple. It wasnt necessary then because competition was bare then.

BTW i had a short burst of this bike 2-3 days back...
As everybody mentioned the good and the bad points..
I just want to mention that the bike felt less stable (than ug3) to me...Although the ride was very small but I did not get the feel a p200 instills...

Can anybody confirm...whether the swingarm is elongated version of p180 ug3 or borrowed from p200...?

Moreover, I am still trying to find out what was the reason for dropping an all important 1 NM of torque....
                            2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
                            2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
                            2006 - Eterno (sold)
                            2008 - Dio (Owned)

Great. I just got a call from my dealer saying that they have arranged a free camp for 3 days, 50% off on engine oil, free water wash, free 10 point check list, confirmed gift, lucky draw, blah blah AND the test ride of the new 180. Now i am waiting to ride this baby

Can anybody confirm...whether the swingarm is elongated version of p180 ug3 or borrowed from p200...?
It s the swingarm of the 200.
Ug3 s have rectangular swingarms. 200,220 s had elliptical swingarms.
And now the 180 has also inherited the elliptical one

Moreover, I am still trying to find out what was the reason for dropping an all important 1 NM of torque....
They lost it while trying increasing the power

                              • hey guys today i went to the local bajaj showroom to get a meter wire replaced
while waiting i was talking to the owner who happens to know me, i saw atleast a score bikes being booked, 9 of which were 150
a person even wanted to exhange his rtr160 refresh for reasons unknown to me
the showroom quoted 43000 for it!
also from now on the bigger pulsars and the avenger will be available here as there is no probiking within say 300 kms from here
so non probiking cities can also have sales of p200 basically and avenger and p220
also the owner told me that he'll provide me with the new 220 after june 10 only as the new p150/180 will have the chance till then to increase the sales
