But isnt the XCD engine the Si variant? Did they do the same with the Pulsar engine too?
I was thinking the same. XCD has Swirl Induction with those offset inlet and outlet ports. This was for greater fuel efficiency.

      Pulsar has the same??

If they introduce Si for the Pulsar engine, then you can definitely say bye bye to the trademark pulsar performance!!!

          • I got this info from an inside guy, he also said that it is due to Si that BAL has added the extra horses without affecting mileage to the 180, may be he was wrong or confused.

            Anyways thanks for correcting me

            • ^^He is definitely wrong. If you ride the new 180 then you can spot some difference in the low end torque but the smoothness across higher end is improved. The new 180 has 14.22Nm torque as against the 15.22Nm of the earlier generation.

That is very less compared to the older one. Is that the reason for the smoothness. How much does the P200 make ?

                • Guys i had a ride of the new 180.
There was a service camp held by Bajaj in my city.Free checkup for all pulsars in and around my city. Check up included tightening of all nuts and bolts, air filter cleaning and such minor jobs.Got power one at just Rs210 for a litre[it was an offer for the day+i got riding gloves free]
I must say I'm totally impressed. No vibes.Didnt feel like a pulsar at all[just abt the vibes]
I am 6'1". The rearsets are a boon. Clip on handlebars provide a nice posture. The wider split seat is damn awesome[More comfort for my ass].

Nice smooth sportier and not to forget, an awesome looker.
the guy quoted a price of Rs.70162/- including registration, insurance, etc.

Yep, recent BAL engines are definitely getting smoother.. even the XCD 135 speedo will show speeds of 82-83 kmph with hardly any engine vibrations.

Hoping that these new crop of machines maintains its smoothness over a longer ownership period.

The P200 makes around 17Nm torque. I hope there is no change in the piston (bore x stroke) configuration on the new P180. Between, the new RTR 180 makes some 16.xxNm torque.
Fat rubber, more weight and less torque will make the new P180 pretty slow compared to the current/old P180 or for that matter the RTR 160/180. But Bajaj engines need to be smoother rather than faster.

Only time ll answer this question. BTW the RTR 180 also has got fatter rubber at the rear.

RTR engines are also not that smooth

Fatter rubber at rear but they are 17 inchers unlike old 18 inchers. So only contact patch might increase marginally, weight might be actually lesser.

Only when the bikes come out, and ride reports happen, we will be able to determine how the bikes are comparatively.

@Chetan: I believe the P180 now behaves like an underpowered but smoother P200.

BTW, that pulsar camp thing is happening in bangalore too on 22nd, 23rd and 24th May.
