I also wanted to get an RX but good people in xbhp convinced me it was a bad idea as I am going long distance and FE will be an issue.
Makes me happy to see another RX restoration.Wishing you best of luck and many happy miles ahead.

Am I missing the painted parts? Have you posted the snaps earlier? (tried few pages back, internet connection today is too slow and as it takes a hell lot of time to load each snaps I lost my patience)
Forgive me,i had already left for the workshop by the time you posted this.Amazing 135 by the way Mr.Boss.Love the stickering done. And regarding the painted parts..All the painted parts are at the Mech's house(Because of the space constraints at the workshop).I won't be able to post a pic of all the parts together but sure i'll try to include max pics of the parts(seperate) as we load them on to the bike.So sorry to have tested your patience brother

I have already purchased YAMALUBE 2T oil and gearbox oil.As i was using the previously used airfilter box, handlebar and T stem i couldn't take a picture of all the freshly painted parts together

Regarding mods, I would just say that engine wise it wont be the garden varaity rx.

Will start a thread when i find some free time.
Waiting for a thread from you bro,its better taking the restoration slow, provided you have self-control and patience. Each RX that passes gives me the feeling of just barely fitting all the parts in a jiffy and just ride it hard and fast.Haa,but all good things take time and effort.

True, albyjose-Yes,regarding the comfort of an RX for long rides and FE,yes there are problems. The ride won't be comfortable and the FE will be relatively low.But always remember, before the advent of modern bikes with amazing ride comfort, safety, reliability and 3 figure FEs..there was a time when people used to go places on the simple 2 strokes..just because of the reason that only they were available at the time.Sure the clutch cable would go bezerk and the various problems would pop up during the ride but thats how they got their hands dirty and tried to fix them. The product of all the above said effort-Simple,people would share such lifelong bonds with their machines. My uncle tells me about his trip to Mussoorie on his Yezdi and his various adventures(and misadventures) on the same bike..sure it was not as reliable as a modern-bike(Also rides now,Recently did 300km on a FZ with no problems whatsoever) but sometimes there are genuine feelings and emotions that no modern bikes can give.Thats what bikes of yesteryear are for.Not for the bonestock reliability, not for the FE and certiantly not for the comfort .

Its all down to personal preference brother. Thanks a lot for your wishes.I'll not let you guys down.

DAY-1
-------
Woke up at 5.30.Haha,havent seen that in a long time.
.Was really excited.Spent the time browsing the forum, closely watching the earlier rebuilds.Making sure i haven't missed any points.By 9.15 AM left for the workshop.Given the notorious reputation of my mechanic of not being there on time,i was already in a mindset to wait patiently. This was the sight then,My father helped me to get things across to the workshop by car and i unloaded them on to the verandah of the workshop and was patiently waiting.

Time passed. It was 9.30,it was 10 and was 10.30.It was by 10.45 that my mechanic(Satheesh) showed up.I talked about my plan of Sat-Sun-Monday(God knows). He passed on the usual "head nod".We first of all went to the local spares shop to get some nuts and bolts(suggested by Sarin chettan(kb100)) and a plastic tray to keep them. The nuts and bolts were zinc dipped and not plated.

The main room of the workshop was already filled with all sorts of things,so we decided to do it in the unused room next to the workshop.Called up the owner and asked for the permission and he obliged. This was the sight of the main room of the workshop room.

No,they were experienced.I was thinking with my heart and they made me think with my brain.I still love RX and will own one later.

Another day well spent

DAY-2
-------

Started by noon today, purchased 2 nutbolts for the crashguard,4 bushes for the shock absorbers and HP FORK OIL.Spent most of the time working on the suspension(Forks and rear shocks). As i was not buying new ones which are just plug and play, fixing them required some effort. The entire front end and back(excluding the rear shocks) end was done today.Completed in all sense(Tires, fenders, suspension, sprocket etc).Work was wrapped up by 5 o clock as the mech had some personal commitments. The bike is beginning to take shape now.Expect less pics from tomorrow. As i only want to share the final outcome(Sure, will post "work in progress" pics after the "final output" pic).Attaching only few pics(The entire front end too was completed, not visible in the attached pics)

1.Working on rear shocks(Gave up finally, shall do it tomorrow with a bit of help)

The engine has to be thoroughly washed because of all the dirt and grime which has formed a thick black coating on the top and bottom of the crankcase. Will do it tomorrow and is planning to mount the engine by tomorrow evening. We are taking it slow as i believe in the quality of work and not just the temporary satisfaction of speeding things up and getting to see the bike.As they say,"the journey is more important than the destination"

To be continued...

There was no work today as both i and the mechanic had some personal commitments to take care of.The engine(crankcase) was given for a thorough wash.It had a thick black coating of oil and grease on its top and bottom. Will receive it tomorrow and continue with the assembly after noon tomorrow(Godwilling).

No harm in a dismantled engine. But since monk's engine is sealed and rx has no crank case packing, there is a chance that water might get inside the gearbox and that will cause priblems.
