    Location of Magnetic Hill
To reach the Magnetic Hill, Ladakh, you need to take the Leh-Kargil-Baltic National Highway. The hill lies at a distance of 30 km from the town of Leh, at an elevation of around 14,000 feet above sea level. To the eastern side of the hill flows the Sindhu river, originating in Tibet.
    Bill-Board by Local Administration
The local administration has also put up a bill board to help tourists recognize the Magnetic Hill. The board clearly states the whole phenomenon. So you can also enjoy a first hand experience as you reach the hill. Place your vehicle on a specific spot on the road with its engines off and you will soon notice the vehicle moving up at a speed of 20 km/hour. You will have the same results over and again as you redo the exercise.

    • ^^he he.. its on the way(road), and no need to take any turn or something..

I am missing one glove in my hand

      besides nothing they say happened

and in that tarmac, if you see some patches in the shape of tyre, that might be because of us.. they were just laying the road when we went

We dont do group rides because of our fluid iternary which we change on our whims and we ride at relatively slow speeds,so we wont be riding with you ,but we guys might bump into each other enroute

      Some tips:

You dont have to touch Delhi coz of insane traffic, you can take Delhi bypass somewhere near behroad go to rothak from a place called bawar on NH-8.

From Rothak you can reach GT Karnal route at Panipat.

This route isnt in a gr8 shape but saves you from Delhi traffic which will get even frustrating with all the heat.
This year again I hope you have not married anyone over there since you are visiting every year

A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

he he.. yep! 800 bucks with installation and tube just for leh ride.. a lil bad choice though.. it was 80/80/17 and my rear was 4.0*18.. it was looking like some kinda drag bike and while riding through mud did not help much..

you can do leh-pangong tso-leh in one day if you do not wish to stay there for the night

instead of kargil push to Drass.. you will have to go inside kargil instead drass is on the road and there is one good govt. guest house

        wow a BIG list

        Add the below ones too,

                      Read my above post!

The viewpoint to confluence of Indus and Zanskar is not at Nimmu, but actually a few kms outside it!

Sadly, too many people have advised me not to go on a ninja so taking a friend's FZ. Do you feel I would be able to take my own bike without damaging it? (other than damages due to falling down)

If you meant the bike getting damaged in transit, then yes you can do a few things that ensure no damage to the bike.

But if you meant damage during the ride, well that is unpredictable. Totally dependent on how bad your luck is and riding skill!

Not the damage in transit. That we can take care by careful packing. I am worried about damage during rides due to stones, uneven road etc. Also would like to know probability of me falling down due to slippery road etc. If the chances of damages due to stones, uneven, slippery road is negligible, I would prefer taking Ninja. I am not very comfortable taking someone else's bike and damaging it during the ride.

                            • Sir, the probability can be anything from 0-100. Its something that cannot be predicted.

I've read posts where people have said that you are bound to drop your bike atleast once in a Leh ride. Infact, some people even asked me how many times I dropped my bike when I did Marismek La...

I din't fall once, Pranay had a small one whilst climbing M La, Veda dropped his bike about 2-3 times (But thats his habit ).

For Example: If you encounter black ice somewhere, then the chances of falling increase hugely. Especially if you don't know you are on black ice...
