Hello friends I'm leh'd and reached manali today evening @ 6 pm want to share few tgings...
1) There is no permit needed for two wheelers.
2) Rohtang to manali is the worst road I faced on my entire trip to leh.... Its full of mud and traffic jam... From keylong to manli (120 km) was 11 hrs journey...

Hi Fellow XBHPIANs

I have confirmed that i would be heading to Leh this September, my leaves are approved tentatively 5th to 16th. Although i am trying my level best to extend to 3 weeks. If its approved i would be riding to Delhi otherwise transporting the bike to Delhi. My fellow group has already finished the ride in June and i am all alone.

Please let me know if anyone is willing to accompany me.

I am eagerly planning and doing a lot of research for long. Right now trying to book some dates then would look for permit & hotels if possible before hand. Any help guys ???

My tentative plan:

Delhi - Srinagar (2 days)
Stay At Srinagar (1 day)
Srinagar - Kargil (1 day)
Kargil - Suru & Zanskar Valley - Kargil (3 days)
Kargil - Leh (1 day)
Stay at Leh (1 day)
Leh – Khardung La – Nubra Valley - LEh (3 days)
Leh – Pangong Tso - Leh (2 days)
Leh – Tso Moriri - Upshi ( 2days)
Upshi - Manali ( 2 days)
Manali - Delhi (2 days)

In case not, we (currently a group of 5) are planning for it from 15th july to 24th July.. If interested you can club in. Initially our group was of 13 but unfortunately because of official commitments and personal exigencies of multiple members the count has now reduced to just 5. It would be great if you could club in...

Leh Trip July 15th

Hi, I am planning to get Leh'd this year in July (Dates not sure). (Hope nothing comes in between as priority).

Below is the tentative itenary I have prepared. This is the first time I am going so feedback are welcome.



I would also like to know where all the permits should be taken? What are the procedures for the same ?

We will ship our bikes by Train from Bangalore to Delhi and while returning we will be riding back.

I was planning to do a Leh ride from Delhi this season but the friend I was supposed to go with pulled out. I somehow am not too intrested in doing a solo ride. Just wanted to check if there are other fellow travellers from Delhi who are looking for company.

Though it will be my first time to Leh, I have done couple of >1500 Km rides and multiple 1000 Km rides.

PM me if somebosy else is intrested. I am planning to do it somewhere in seconf week of june or July when the route to Manali opens up fully.

if u think that was difficult .. try the road between gramphoo to losar you will have a new defination for difficult .Its not even 100kms but took me over a day to comlete with a lot of other issue for which i will have a diffrent thread.
Just came back from spiti today 2am. Did kaza to karnal in 18hrs straight , but still gramphoo to losar takes the cake .

Just did spiti with 2 more xbhpians......who said there are roads, there are literally "no roads"....will post the thread details link here asap.

P.S : Today's TOI news says that 1300 people trapped near rohtang due to land slides, we just managed to get out a day before i.e Friday

We're about to go to Manali next week. Just wanted to know about the weather, traffic & road conditions there. If someone could provide the recent info or based on their experience about this time of the year, it would be a help for us

We'll be riding to Rohtang Pass and Manikaran there. Any other spot recommended to pay a visit? Any sort of info about those spots, accomodation, route and stuff will be appriciated

We'll be on this trip for 5 or 3 days. Can't decide b/w those right now coz of some reason, so suggest according to both

Just returned y'day, its raining there in manali and it can rain anytime, rohtang pass is closed again due to recent landslides, by the way gathered an info from a localite that they close Rohtang Pass every tuesday, dont know whether its true or not

Thanks for the quick reply bro. Well thats a bad news But, will it take more than a week to get opened again? Yeah I know that can happen again also. So, do you suggest us to change destination to somewhere else or what?

Also, can anyone confirm about that TUESDAY thingie?

Narkanda, Naldehra can be an option or you can wait for the pass to open
