One should be a pair of gumboots, the calf length ones, for on - saddle use and the other a pair of normal sneakers in the Adidas/Nike/Reebok fashion for off-saddle wear. I am using this method in my forthcoming ride. I have picked up a pair of the former here in Rajkot for Rs 300/-. They are super light weight foam and very comfy too and due to non-permeability of water and air, very warm of their own.
Very good advise indeed. Using gumboots or riding boots off the bike is a painful experience. Better carry cheap sneakers or tennis shoes for that. When not in use, tie to your luggage exterior using mesh or the shoes' laces and cover with a bag.

Whats the status of New Delhi - Jaipur Highway?? Is it confirmed that the road is in bad condition and we should be taking NH1 instead and ride for Chandigarh?

Need options and alternate for the above issue.. it seems that most of user have used surgical gloves with problems or other. I appreciate your efforts!

why not try industrial full length rubber gloves loose enough which can be worn above your riding gloves.

Absolutely correct. We have got a more flexible variety of these and would be using them in the rain over our riding gloves.

@Kuldeep. You have your answer here

              • Change in itinerary post Delhi

                Hello everybody,

My team of five has changed its itinerary post Delhi. Now, instead of boarding the train for Mumbai, we will ride down all the way till Mumbai via Gwalior, Mhow and Nashik.

We should be hitting Delhi on 25 June and then, on the highway to Mumbai/Pune.

This information has been shared by Argha (xbhp ID: scilent killer) as our plan was to meet our fellow riders at Jaipur. I have asked him to confirm this information ASAP.

If this is a case we have to take NH1 to and meet our group at Chandigarh!

@Maneesh, as I see you guys have changed your plan and will be going via new delhi. Please check the status of this highway.

                  Regards

As of April 2012 this highway was in excellent condition. If something changed in 60 days I would assume there was natural disaster because this route was done by a friend in Jaipur and his pics show me the best highway I have ever seen.

                        • Friends,

This is my entire groups first trip to Leh so I need information on the medicines to carry for the trip. I am particularly interested in knowing the usage of Diamox to counter AMS. My questions are:

                          1) When to take Diamox?
                          2) How quickly it starts working?
                          3) Safe Dosage?
                          4) As a precaution, can it be taken before AMS symptoms occur? If yes, then what will be the best time?
                          5) Quantity to carry for a group of 4?
                          6) Other medicines we'll be carrying will be for Fever, Body ache, headache, cough & cold, eye drops, stomach upset, betadine, baindaids, crepe bandages, dettol, cotton etc.

Also, if anyone can suggest any other medicines that would be helpful for a health trouble free trip?

                          Thanks
