Had a small query - would there be helmets available for kids?

I have a 2.5 year old daughter and planning to take her also on the long rides - but without a helmet - definite no no...

Where can I get one for her? I live in Chennai... would be great if I can get some lead on the same...

@ Sunnybhai - absolutely correct bola aapne... Not so much for long rides, Right now - immediate more concern for me is my dropping her to school... She says - wind is little too much - and am a little apprehensive making her sitting at the back alone - as her feet doesn't reach the footpeg....As now she sits in front of me in my BULL, where I am able to hold her...

Checked out the skating helmets - don't have a front visor too in them... Hence looking for a proper lid... with a visor in front... Any idea, Sunnybhai - even online for any such helmet? Else, will have to go for a skating/biped helmets only...

That's a real good idea to not to keep her as pillion, though she might hold you firmly for grip, just in case of an emergency maneuver left or right, she might lose her grip and inevitable could happen. Best idea as you said is to keep her in front, so that the little one feels secure.

Since you mentioned your daughter saying, wind is too much, why don't you get the one that has a strap and a glass alone, I forgot the name for it. My father used to use it, it's just a glass visor with an elastic band, which is basically for wind and to protect the user's face. The brand name was Ryders. This was years back, now I don't even know that the company is still up and running. But then you have lots of other brands too. Bicycle helmet is a good choice, but since your daughter mentioned "wind is too much" you might want to consider a full face, because purchasing a bicycle helmet wouldn't really solve her problem. If wind is her only problem, why don't you get her some good riding goggles, it's a best bet and cheap too.

Second, to your query getting a full lid for your little one, you have really small sized helmets, but then the availability and the fit/comfort factor is the thing to ponder about.

not bis,u`ll have to get it verified from the international market,first of all laws are very strict abroad for certification,hence its the manufacturers responsibility to meet the requirement,

regarding cross and ls2 being manufactured from the same unit,u can email ls2 company and get it confirmed.

i didnt say cross is superior to ls2,i said if u want something superior to cross then its ls2,read my reply above again.

regarding the website,i know all this because i`m a dealer of cross and ls2

ok, i have some quality issues with my helmet. i will post with pics in a day of two.

Please don't let her sit behind without being able to reach the foot-pegs. Dangerous because she cannot balance and also since her feet are dangling close to spinning wheel spokes.

When my son was able to reach the pegs, I used to wear a modified luggage strap around my waist so that he could hold onto in easily for support as his small arms could not go around me to hold on.

As for the helmet, the main problem for children her age is that they are unable to balance the weight of a proper helmet. The sheer weight could cause more damage than good in a fall, hence I used a good bicycle helmet. Of course I used to ride at literally 35kmph too! For the wind a pair of kiddies shades will serve the purpose as well as thrill her to bits!

Get her a full face helmet when she is about 7 or 8 - that is the age that most proper kids sized helmets will start to fit.

certainly yes! you can find many helmet dealers having LS2s in GP road and also the shops near greams road..some are, Sri padham helmets GP road, helmet paradise, pioneer helmets etc near greams road.. LS2 varies between 1900 - 2800 INR..I got my LS2 speed 7 months back for 2400 at sri Padham helmets.

the CROSS helmet i have recently purchased a few days ago has a minor quality issue. the liner or padding has a velvet like feel on both sides- left & right bottom and this velvet like thing is peeling off, at the point exactly where it touches the helmet edge and if i rub it, it peels faster like a powder. please see pics.







i went to the showroom -"champion sports" and informed them. they said that they will replace the liner/padding and then they took the padding from another helmet of same model and installed it. to check i rubbed it with finger it peeled off instantly. he then checked all 4-5 pieces he had in same model, but all peeled off they said they called the distributor and distributor confirmed the problem in this particular model. he then said that you can take any other helmet by paying the difference amount. but i didn't like the other designs as much so i said you order a fresh padding and give me by sunday.

i told them may be your helmets are lying unsold for long time that why this is happening, but he said -NO this is not old stock.

although it is in no way hampering the normal working of helmet or protection it is offering but peace of mind is gone.

A big mistake from buying there, you not only paid the maximum cost of helmet in city but also got a duplicate one. If possible revert your transaction and take the money back. Please avoid this shop. Btw how much did you pay for your cross helmet?
