3. A much needed stop-over after brain-drain traffic


4. We in shade. Insane heat. Blacktop Tarmac. Sight of the river was our only reprieve


5. Some were having a fag. Others having a drag on their water bottles. Some were tending to the nature's call!


6. Kashedi Ghats apex - a much needed & deserved break


7. Looking @ the # of bikes parked outside that place; sure seems to be quiet a hangout!


8. Anything to escape from the Sun & the Heat. Guys indulging in Slice, Sprite, Chilled Water, ThumsUp & what not.


9. Others were trying to capture the raw scenic beauty of the surroundings


10. Parking lot of "Hotel Atithi" - with so many exotic machines around, we had no option but to commission 2 watchdogs [discreetly seen in the photo ;-)]

23. The Konkan 'Chernobyl' - Enron Power Grid Plant seen as a haze in the extreme background - its a ghost town now, back there.


24. Divine Interventions - Shree Kshetra Velneshwar [Yet another Avataar of Lord Shiva]


25. Guys gathering under shade after insane ride thru the Kumbharli Ghats - the ghat connects Mumbai-Goa highway & Mumbai-Bangalore highway & is breath-takingly scenic, especially in rains. The flying curves & near-perfect black-top, are a riders delight too!


26. Aaram bahot huwa... still have a lot of ground to cover before sundown... the ride resumes...


27. And finally, my good ol' faithful - 5yrs 8months, over 6.6L kms on the clock - creaky & wonky a bit... top speed 60kmph... but WTF... reliable & sturdy...
She was also the reason for me getting officially christened as "Captain Slow" - allowed hain yaaron! ;-)


All in all it was good fun... Maza aya...
Thank you for being my fellowmen & also for waiting for me @ every nav-point despite the time loss.
I look forward to more rides, albeit me being on a better machine :P

and Amen to the Kawanja ! Hou dya tumchya manasarkha. Even me in
the queue, not the 650 but some upgrade to the existing P180 UG2.

I guess upgrading to a Duke 390 is the natural process for most Pulsarites... i must compliment the riding posture of the NS200 tho :-)
Incidentally, after Kumbharli, enroute to Karhad, we passed Paatan - which was when i remembered u [due to ur last name], last noon!
As for the pics, those are all that i cud click. Sachin & others have clicked a few - lets wait for them to upload those.
The traffic between Satara & Pune was insane... i felt as if i were riding from Mulund to Kanjurmarg on Eastern Highway in peak hours!!!
As for the Kawanja650 - i plan to book her in June / July so I get it by the time rains are over... had had chitchat w/ Sachin during the trip abt his experience of the bike.
Funniest part of the ride was the speed [or rather the lack of it] @ which my Avenger ran thru the whole journey.
Everybody was waiting @ various nav-points, allowing me to catch-up! I cud notice the expression on some of the folks faces saying... "abbey yaar... thoda toh jaldi aaja kaminey. Aur kitna wait karwayega garmi mein saale! ;-)"
100% of the time I was playing the catchup game.
the heat... OMFG... paseeney ki dukaan bhendi sab junta!
My Avenger excelled tho, after we started from Khandala Kamat's Green House @ almost Sundown. The powerful headlight of Avenger allowed me to ride her, even in pitch black, @ her top speed... 60kmph! :-)

Had a beautiful ride ! Especially while coming back. Nh17 was bad but nh4 was heaven as always !

Saurabh - Deserves a special thanks for managing the entire ride right from co - ordinating accommodation to collecting money. Well done sirjee.

Beautiful ride both ways but the return leg was special. Kumbharli Ghat was superb to ride.

Pictures I shall share by tonight, although I don't have many pictures in my camera. Vzu has most of it I guess.

yes, we had good fun. after years of dual/solo, riding in a group after over a decade, made me feel right at home.
atithi was a good hang-out too - ||atithi devo bhava||
and yes, u read that right... over 80% of that was munched w/ wifey on the pillion to in-laws [baagalkot, KA] & sis-in-law [alto porvorium, GA] :P
the ride, although trusted, has indeed lived its life now... time to upgrade :'( will repair her & keep her for city commute tho!

it's been a joy to see the kawanja pass-by... got home @ 9.30pm last night & declared to [read... sough permission from] wife that i am sold on the ninja now!
prior to the trip, it was either the ninja650 or the superlow.
saw the practicality of ur machine + whatever chats we've had... am heading to the LBS dealership in june to book mine, come hell or high-water.

need to mention the thoughtfulness of @saurabhjd as well. the stay & the plan was spot-on. the kind guy even called to check whether i'd reached safe. very thoughtful of him. thank you @saurabhjd :-)

where's the next trip?
hell i dont give a damn.
i wud rather ask *WHEN* is the next trip instead!

@whymail - You cannot go wrong with the Kwacker. Every bike has shortcomings, work on the things which we discussed and you should be fine!
You have done 6.6 Lakhs kms on Avenger :O That is over 1 Lakh kms in a year and close to 8k kms every month. Phew!

@Sachinnair : ha re baba. infact b4 our trip, i had taken her to thane bajaj service - piston block & rings replace karna padega bolta hain [makes sense as well - the reason why she lacks the grunt on inclines & flat-out open throttle runs] - wear & tear due to prolonged use bola :-(
she was way way gruntier @ insane ghats of simla > kalpa > tabo > kaza
replacing the piston assembly is approx. 40% of the cost she would fetch, if i were to sell it!
thought it's better to keep it status quo!

@DeVille : sure will ping u when i go there for the booking.
infact came back from the LBS dealership just now.
got a formal quote as well for the Kawanja650
cost: 4,49,467/-
comprehensive insurance: 11,185/-
RTO Registration: 37,590/-
Octroi [ex-thane]: 23,502/-
Grand Total: 5,66,744/-
Waiting period [this hurts the most]: 120 days! [this is like WTFFF!!!]
Now comes the toughest part... convincing wifey!
