apparently it is. even i dint know.

My heart felt thanks to raghav who helped me at the police station. i have given a written complaint. going tomorrow morning to get the FIR. raghav said 95% chance that i will not get my bike. how do i go about insurance claim? can someone throw some light on this? thank you.

well me and my friend had gone to bessy beach, i parked my bike opp akshaya mobiles near barista coffee shop @ 7:30pm. when i returned @ 9pm it wasnt there. first i thought i might have parked it somewhere else but it slowly dawned on me that it has been stolen. bike was side locked. apparently these guys are professionals. well now my baby is gone. she had done some 15k kms and is 1yr and 3months old. any hopes of getting her back? to add to my worries my family and friends are scaring me that it might be used in a bomb blast tomorrow lol hope that will just be a figment of imagination. life sucks !

      • @YS - Sorry to hear this; My inner most fear of life has always been a vehicle theft & there're several nights I've gone mad at such nightmarish dream. I can understand how you feel now.

The procedure of insurance is with a mandatory FIR, which I'm sure you'll be getting one tomorrow or rather today. Again, the cops SHOULD give you a photocopy of the FIR at free of cost. Do not try to meet or get your job done through anyone below SI.

IIRC, its about 90 days later, if the cops give you a statement saying that the bike is untracable, then you can file this with your insurance company & get the IDV value of the motorcycle. Its FZ right?

Let me know if you need any more info. Once again, I'm sorry to hear & sincerely pray the moron who stole your motorcycle loose both his hands & live longer!!!

Well, he shouldn't be able to do anything of his own & has to depend on his family even for food & the worst thing is when he grows old when he doesn't have his siblings around to help. That's when he would start repenting!!!

Yes you should do it, provided you own an Intruder, Duc, HD etc, but not for ZMA, FZ. I mean, if someone has money to buy big bikes, then he SHOULD invest in for quality security systems unless God always listens to one's prayers. This is ridiculous to steal whatever is being seen. Forget the loss of money, its the attachment one develops with his steed that is being lost; I do not know about people who dress well, with sun screens, perfume, hair color & polished shoe & only to wipe the dust in the motorcycle seat. No I'm not talking about those guys who see the cast iron & plastics, but of those people who see the engine as heart, speak to their steeds & live with them; for them, a loss of steed is loss of life!!!

            • @ all : Guys, I'd Like to make a warning here. I'd ask anyone visiting besant nagar to Park your Bike elsewhere safe.

Now SAFE in besant nagar would not only mean a place where there is a constant buzz of people but also a place where you easily reach for a quick headsup and gives the oppurtunity to get a quick look as and when needed. So far, there are not many places.

Although I cannot certify that a spot is safe, I can Identify and confirm 2 such "Black holes" in Besant nagar.

The first and foremost spot, BARISTA Service lane. Barista and the cell phone shop adjacent to the coffee shop have been quite nutorious for such thefts. In a previous experience where a close friend was ripped of his 3 Week Old A180, the shop keeper was a acting like a ROYAL PRICK!

I still have reason to suspect that this cell phone shop guy may be involved in this. He acted quite rude and suspicious the last time and so has he this time.

The Next Black hole being the Pavement parking near Reebok and Pupil

Yes. This would be the same place where we've had g2g's in the mornings! the place has been notorious for bikes do a mysterious vanishing act.

Guys from what I've seen so far, I recommend keeping the documents elsewhere but under the seat. This would atleast create a ruckus in case the thief gets stopped for routine check. atleast thats what the cops said. With the amount of checking the city was under, the thief must've been stopped atleast once, but thats just a ray of hope in me saying Hi!

All this is just a word of warning. I feel extremely broken for yellowspunk, but I would feel that this would be a warning enough for the rest of us to stay alert at places where we would least expect things like these to go wrong!

                  • Motorcycle theft is on the rise these days.... I personally carry a chain lock to tether the wheels of my bike when I park in a public/suspicious spot. Besant Nagar especially is known for these things, thanks to the rich kids around. Hopefully u do get ur bike back YellowSpunk or atleast the Insurance value of your bike. As long as the bike is in our visual point, its fine. Else double check ur security....

yea its a fz-s. spoke to insurance company.. they said i need fir and a non-traceable certificate from the police which is given after 90days. the problem is the police are sleeping on it. my friend lost his bike 7months ago and he is yet to receive his non-traceable certificate !! i spoke to the inspector of police only today.. he dint seem to care much either. their excuse today "ayodya verdict so everyone on bandobust duty!!" btw this IDV amt. i will get that in full or a percentage of it? my dad says we will get 70-80%. or will we get full amount?

i was telling my friend i needed a gun to kill the bad ass people in this world while we were in the beach. weird now i really need a gun. first cause him flesh wounds. then break his bones and watch him bleed and wither to death !!!

the only solution i see is a alarm kit. costs some 600-1000bucks branded good ones. worth every penny. if my bike when *beep* *beep* *beep* *beep* *beep* that asshole would have runaway or at the least it would have attracted attention to the bike.

yea even the cycle locks and chains would also help. the more hindrance they have the more they would be deterred. my opinion. thanks man.

                      I need your help.
i've no contacts to help me deal with the bureaucracy of our police system. can someone help me get some contacts in the police? to influence and speed up the process? my dad says the police will know who are the suspects they will just not go after them cause its just a bike for them. nor will they give a non-traceable certificate cause if by any chance the bike is traced after the insurance amt is released they would be in a soup. so they would save their asses and screw ours. I honestly, sincerely request your help ! i live @ mogappair. i need to take 4buses and do 50kms a day to get anything done. i dont mind going but if they keep saying come tomorrow come tomorrow what am i do?

There's no foolproof system invented till date. If there's a way in, there's always a way out. This is a sad truth; all the security system WILL NOT prevent from stealing, but only delay the process.

Violence is not a solution to end problems my friend. Violence & rage will only bleed death. Just think about your family, your dependants & the life in jail. See you've already changed your mind

                            Methods to evade alarm...
                            1. Remove the battery connection to disconnect the alarm
                            2. Short circuit by breaking the turn lights & then the alarm conks off
These are 2 simple trick that a common man like me knows.

Best way - get a Xena security alarm to prove your true love Costs a bomb, but the expression to watch when someone tries to steal your steed is priceless

can someone help me get some contacts in the police? to influence and speed up the process?
Patience my friend, have some patience. When people can wait for ration & casting vote, why not for justice? Just wait my friend. Patience pays!!! But don't overdo.

Have a copy & record of everything what they ask you to do. Set a clear expectation to the cops without saying directly - "NO BRIBE". But don't tell them directly.

                            • @YS I am really shocked to hear about your loss. I very well know how much you love your steed. I really feel bad for your loss. Somehow I have a hunch that you will get back your ride in top notch condition. Hope it comes true.

Till then be patient. Don't let emotions overrule you. Be kind and stubborn with the police. My friend's uncle is the Traffic commissioner of police Chennai.Mr. Jagapathy babu. But he is out of station now. I will try my best to contact him and make him do the needful.
                              Be patient.
