ohh how I can miss my posting here, I think m the most fateful in paying off to cops-
Heres it goes in chronological order-

      1. Sometimes 4 years back in Bangalore (KA), I borrowed a frends spelendor with Kerala registration(KL) with absolutely NO paper, NO DL, NO helmet and my gf (read wud be now) as pillion. Pandu caught me at marthahalli flover (noway to escape) - Rs. 300 gone.

      2. Jumped signal near IISc on a Yamaha YBX 3 years back. Pandu was standing just after the signal. Rs. 200 (No paper, No DL)

      3. Caught by pandu near hebbal flover on my Avenger. LL was expired. Rs.100 (this was the least I have paid).

      4. Jumped signal near Sadashivnagar "Police Station" (I thot its a free left turn) .. It was my bad luck as one pandu had just came out of the office to stretch himself. Rs.100.

      5. The most ghatiya exp goes here, a month back on 20th sept, when I was heading to get my Insurance renewed which got expired on 13th Sept. Pandu stopped me near Hebbal , Insurance expired Rs.200.

I paid under-the-table amount and started heading towards ganganagar, after around 5 minutes of riding another pandu caught me. Insurance expired , he asked for Rs.200, I negotiated to Rs.150 after a bargain of 15 min. That place was 5 minutes before the Insurance office.
Insurance office was closed by then.
I came back home like a fugitive via galli-kutcha , reached home.

Ironical part is ultimately I renewed the insurance through net - (ICICI lombard)

Its akin to ridin drunk-No matter what the other guy's fault maybe-It is you who will get punished-No licence? your fault! No insurance? YOU pay for everyting! Alcohol in blood and someone else crashes into u?-YOU go to jail..

Ok, you follow point 3 to avoid the cops..But I would really be happy if u followed 1,4 with dilegence..Get a licence and ride with peace of mind -Its not difficult

Not trying to be a bore or trying to single you out and find faults.Jus tellin you what i feel...after all I beleieve we xBhpians should set good examples on the roads and off it.I am sure the Mods would agree on this and insist on it too...

        peace and happy riding
Its not that i havent applied for one ,
its been more than 2 months ive still got only a Learner licence .
have been there 5 times n still havent got it.i have insurance ,rc in my name puc c .
I cant do anything if govt officials work so slow .

HOPE 2 get it this week

I've been "chalaned" a couple of times, Once i was caught for jumping a signal, but it wasn't my fault since the signal wasn't working correctly. it kept going on and off. The cop kept saying its not their fault the singnal wasn't working. I was pissed off, argued with them for an hour, went to the police station, argued for some more time, but ended up paying 120 bucks. I checked the receipt when i reached home and i was even more angry with my self because i didn't notice it was 100 bucks written on on the reciept. I could have argued some more about the 20 bucks extra.

One more memorable incident was when the helmet rule was new, and i was riding without a helmet. There were a couple of cops at the side of the road. Cop #1 stops me and i agree to pay the fine. I take out the cash and keep it in my hand. Cop #1 then goes to stop another vehicle and tells cop #2 to write me a receipt. Cop #2 writes the receipt and gives it to me, and tells me to leave (not knowing i haven't paid the fine yet). I leave the place as fast as i could before cop #1 returned.

'Challaned' last night by the cops.. Again!!

Was riding back home after the movie @ 2 AM. Stopped for regular checks.

All papers intact. Still Insisted for a bribe.

The Cop said... " Its a offense to ride after 12 AM"

Finally let out after giving 50 Rs. Damn!

NEITHER CHALLANED NOR ASKED FOR UNDER THE TABLE BRIBE..

funniest part is here in hyderabad, most of the MAMUS(a.k.a pandus ) they want to see papers(they dont care for what you show them). i carry all my papers in a small pouch and when ever stopped i hand over the pouch and and they usually help themselves finding papers. any once i mistakenly kept my question paper in that pouch(mechanics of solids paper) and few MAMUS wud just see the paper and let me dont with out realising it wasnt xerox of my RC but my question paper..

Never in my life. although was caught without insurence papers twice and paid 50 bucks to mamu.

Apart from that before i became independent had Army written on my bike and scooter so no one ever dared to stop me and now no one stops me anyway.. :-)
