From my experience on XPeria U, they're straight forward process to remove except O/S If you tell me the name of any such app, I'll try removing & testing for you.

Mine lasts for 30 hours+ & still had charge, didn't test anything beyond that; I once talked continous for over 4+ hours after charge & still there was 64% charge left over.

As far as I had understood ROOTING is a process similar to FORMATTING a PC with different OS or upgradation we can say (For e.g, in PC Windows XP to Windows 7 same is the case with mobiles may be..Android 2.3 to Android 4)...OR I am wrong here.
So my question is can Galaxy Y be rooted ? From stock A 2.3 to A 4.

Rather then just formatting the pc & upgrading from Windows XP to Win7, IMO rooting can be related to acquiring ADMIN rights or "ROOT" access of your PC & able to do anything. Since, with the stock OS, you will have limitations & wont be able to add/remove certain apps even if you dont want without admin permissions. There are lots of developers developing some amazing ROMs (i.e. OS) which has mind blowing features and are much beyond the stock OS. To name a few features: removing bloatwares, enhancing your interaction/response experience, speed, overclocking/underclocking your phones cpu frequency, ofcourse trying tons of beautiful ROMs, etc..
You may not get a stock Android upgrade for your phone if its not officially released by Google. Since, the functionality wont support your phones hardware & are not meant for it. Hence the developers tweak them & customize these OS for your phones.

You should quickly head to the XDA forum to know more about custom ROMs available for your phone :

Guys, i am planning to buy my 1st Android.. I know it's already late to join the group
Now, I had a limited budget, and planned to buy Micromax A87 Ninja 4.0. I had Almost made up my mind, and investing just 6k on MicroMax brand didn't seem to be Un-wise.
But then suddenly the budget increased to 10K

So on further research, I came up with two good phones under 10K -
Karbonn A9+, and Micromax A110 Canvas 2..

Now, If I go by Brand phones, there are Sony Tipo Dual and Samsung GAlaxy Y Duos within this budget; the specifications of which are quite pathetic compared to above Low branded phones..


So guys please suggest - Which one Should I go for?? I am Inclined to Karbonn A9+. But I have no previous experience of KArbonn phones (neither of mine or of any friend/relatives). I have A 2000/- micromax with me, which is working fine, but I feel the build Quality is Weak.

i'll suggest to go out of micromax and karbon....and look for samsung.... Maybe u'll get gingerbread and no ICS..but still for me it makes sense.... Peace of mind and a much better interface and support...choose wisely.... Gingerbread has everything thats generally needed....

Like Rahul said, go for samsung Galaxy Y (not the dual sim coz it eats up the battery).
I have used this mobile and its just awesome. Although comes with gingerbread 2.3.6 but that shouldn't make a difference unless you are crazy after ICS. Good gprs speed, nice camera ,super-smooth touch and flawless multi tasking due to the strong processor.

But if you want to go for Micromax or Karbonn, then I'd advise you to go for Micromax superfone. A Samsung Galaxy S3 look alike (rather a bit bigger), looks good but I dint find the touch to be as good as Galaxy Y's. But beware, don't expect a lot of multi tasking from its 1ghz processor coz it does hang but only if you use a lot of apps and live wallpaper. And micromax has a good service support too.

You can opt for HTC Wildfire S also, but the processor is 600mhz as against Galaxy Y's 800 mhz, but the Ram is 512 (better multitasking)

See if you can get a Galaxy Ace I. Would fit your budget and provide a good performance as well.

But understand one thing, higher specs in a low budget phone do not confirm a proportional increase in performance. The quality of internals also differ in brands.

Bottom Line: If I were in your place, I would've gone for Galaxy Y (single sim). Tension free, though smaller in size to MM, but would give a tough fight in the performance sector.

i told him about sony tipo too... Its ics...main disadvantage is no front camera and no divx support... Otherwise very decent specs.. These micromax user crappy MediaTek processor with no power management at all.... These mediatek 1.2ghz perform like a singie core 800mhz A-5 chips... Dont go by tempting specs and larger screens....

I have used Samsung galaxy Y, and yes, iam am impressed with the UI (esp the touch response). I have no Special bias-ness toward ICS (though I have never used it earlier, so no idea). But given the other harware specs b/w the branded and local made phones (>1 Ghz and dual core processors, along with 4" screen with 480x800 resolution, which claims to a higher PPI, and 512MB RAM ) highly attracts me toward the Krbn and MMX brands. Can u please tell, why you are favouring MMX to karbonn?? Do u have Any bad experience with Karbonn?? I too like the MMX A110 superfone, but I think 5" phone is too much impractical to handle, especially, having it on Jeans pocket, and riding bikes!! If I see the branded ones, then Tipo is what i will go with... But then comming To Processors.. see the Processor of Xperia Tipo, and Karbonn A11 is the same i.e Qualcomm MSM7225A 800Mhz(tipo); Qualcomm MSM7225A 1Ghz (A11), and both having Adreno 200 (enchanced) GPU. While KArbonn A9+ has Qualcomm MSM8225 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor, with Adreno 203 GPU. Ya, MMXA110 has a MediaTek MT6577 1Ghz dual core processor.. SO, why not Karbonn A11/ A9+ over Tipo?? Saying all theese, I too have my Apprehensions against these cheap smart phones, and IF I am investing 10K, I will think a 100 times. If I am Still undecisive, then i will go with ninja 4.0, for 5500/- and then will root the phone. It has all the good hardware, Except just 256 MB RAM, out of which there is free user available RAM after all the goof-ups of only 20-30MB.. In that case, I will have toroot the phone to increase the RAM.... Still, I will like to hear some more opinins, ad suggestions..

Im bias towards mm only because i have experience of using it. I still have a spare Micromax Q3 (3 years old) and never had any prob with it. still works perfectly. Even the charger and headphones are stock.

I have no experience with Karbonn.

I again say...a 1 Ghz processor in a MM/Karbonn does not mean it will give a proportionately higher level of performance than a Samsung 800Mhz processor.

and yes, a 5" cellphone is difficult to handle while riding bikes.
