Thats reassuring. I was worried about your ride after seeing those images and believing the pics to be close to actual products. This is a relief.

HID's are a better option anyday if we are riding in the dark even for sometime of the day. On our roads even night time is not safe at all.
And this i can say with very good(rather bad) experience.

So lets see how your HID fits and works. Will check it out when we can meet half ways in Lonavla. And then maybe i too could opt for it.

    cheers...
Indeed. I am just busy packing my bags from my current location and will reach Mumbai soon.

    @All
: I got an update from Rohit, RnD Motovil that my HID kit is ready and will be shipped tomorrow. I have mention this to you all riders that Rohit has been in touch with me throughout the build. I have requested him to share some of the pics of my HID; preferably build pics. Whenever he sends it accross i shall put it up here. So for me i was very impressed by the eagerness and constant update from the seller's end. So the only remaining from my end will be to install the kit and then put out an ownership report of the same. Since, everything is coming pre-installed in an FZ dome, neither i nor my technician will have any headache to get the whole kit installed in Mumbai. This is a big boon especially after listening to some of the horror stories from my friends where some of the idiots had cracked the light dome or riders themselves attempting to do the installation applied too much heat and melted the light dome.

Now just anxiously waiting to set my foot here and then make a dash for the engine head to be dismantled and shipped to RC. blore. Build updates and reports will be coming soon.

    Cheers,

Wow, its nice to hear that the seller has keen interest in keeping you updated.
Goes to show the commitment even before buying and lets hope that it remains the same after the sale.

It helps that everything will come pre-installed. Will relieve you from the headache of toying with the bike's system.
Here i saw one FZ dome melted from over heating, one ballast gone berserk and fry all the electricals and one blackened dome turning white again.

Come fast and start the work on your FZ-X.
      cheers.

      • FZ HID First image

@All: Sharing the first images of my FZ HID Kit :

I have requested Rohit to share some more frontal pics whenever possible. To give you guys an idea of how big the AES Projector set up is, please have a look at this reference video:

Please note the above video has not been shot by me but just a sourced out video to understand the dimensions of the AES brand i chose for my ride's lighting

More or less this is how my HID kit will look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brKI0y6qhK4

Since, my HID set up has got matt black paint coating inside the reflector panel, the red angel eye glow will be much more prominent when only switching on the parking lights and the angel eyes along with it unlike the video above in which the red light from the inner Angel eye is subdued by the White outer angel eye.

        Cheers,

          Cheers,
Holy Moly, the beauty of the angel eye...i am already in love with this kit of yours.

Without even checking out the spread of the projector i am thinking of buying it.

Such is the mesmerizing power, it blinds you into buying stuff you(like me) dont need at the moment.

I believe these are the pics sent to you by Rohit and not from your home cam. Right???

But anyway you've got a fantastic setup for you. I am happy.

          cheers...

              • Finally the waiting begins

                Hi All,

Just giving an update that the initial plan of sending my Yamaha FZ's stock head to Joel RC has been scrapped. I have requested Joel to kindly, procure the engine head from Yamaha parts shop there, do the needful and ship me the head from his end. I shall then pay for whatever is the cost of the engine head is in Blore. In Mumbai, the SVC quoted me 3600 INR for the same.

I had to scrap the earlier plan as my travel requirements for the month has suddenty shot up. So i am bugging the hell out of the quiet dark arts master to send me the remaining parts at the earliest.

In The mean time, the moment i get the HID kit in my hands, i shall get it installed over the weekend and share pics..

                Cheers,

I am not sure, but is it possible for rider ashwinprakash to have a look at this web blog (Yamaha Parts Price List - 2010) and give us folks the exact part no. Then it is a matter of making a simple phone call to the SVC and then getting a quote.

He's talikng about the part number. Not the price. If you visit the blog you would get a fair idea of what the part is. Try once.

Trying to rebore fz with rtr's piston, that's why WE need that info.

                            • HID kit installed

                              Hi All,

I finally got hold of rider abhimanyu31 and bugged him to the core to help me get the HID kit installed. We landed up at one of his trusted mechanic's workshop and got the whole deed done. Below are some of the images:

Pic 1: HID Kit boxed pack

                              Pic 2: HID unboxed

Pic 3: Plastic covering removed from the HID pre-installed in an FZ dome

Pic 4: Stock FZ dome with stock reflector and 35 watt bulb

Pic 5: Stock dome removed from my ride

                              Pic 6: Inverter for CCFL

Pic 7: HID Ballast. Checked with abhimanyu31. I am fine with the quality. Later after a year or two will shift to Osram or higher grade ones both the ballast and the HID. Will be heavy on the pocket but i am crazy anyways

Pic 8: HID with the dome getting installed. I had asked Rohit not to paint the edges of the dome reflector.

Pic 9: HID kit now installed on my FZ-X, Frontal View

Pic 10: Testing the HID double angel eyes. Too bright for the phone cam.

Pic 11: Final image of the Double angel eye lights.

Pic 12: Double angel eyes frontal view

Pic 13: Double angel eye side view 1.

Pic 14: Double angel eye side view 2

Pic 15: Low beam spread. Notice the light is lesser towards the right hand side. So will have to adjust the dome angle and also the solenoid valve inside

Pic 16: High beam not major difference in light so need to adjust the high beam. Note that both these images have been clicked in the middle of afternoon inside the garage with lots of ambient light coming in. So you can imagine how strong the intensity of the light is

The initial experience: The HID lights up pretty fast and i have not observed any flickering so far. The more the HID heats up, the more intense the light becomes. I am happy to announce that the initial expectation i had with the intensity of the light without compromising or putting stress on the electricals has turned out just fine for me. I now will have to adjust the solenoid mechanism to get the beam spread on the low and high beam throw a little bit better. Since, everything was done in day light it was not possible to get the work done at that point of time. Anyways, my servicing is due soon so shall bug my boys at Kamla Yamaha to get the deed done.

As suggested by Luke, the Pass light as of now will be avoided as it puts too much stress on the HID bulb.

I shall post my experience as i continue clocking more miles on my ride. ODO reading is somewhere arounf 23,422 kms as of now.

My ride is giving me little niggling troubles in terms of not responding sometimes to my throttle input so shall pay a visit to the SVC this coming Monday and get the servicing done along with rest of the health check ups till i can get my hands on the pending kits from RC to perform the heart surgery.

                              Cheers,

I've got my pass switch hooked up as per normal, But I only hit it if i've got the lights on already.
