    Buddy its not like that!!
I've been there on that stretch doing 65 on speedo and was not stopped by any interceptor cop at all!!!

And yes these interceptors can record the speed for a 2 wheeler as well. My friend was caught and his speed was tracked to 97!!

On Bangalore Airport road the speed for 2 wheelers is 60.

Now one can find interceptor on the hosur road as well near the volkswagon showroom. Here the speed limit for 2 wheelers is again 60 and they give a lineancy of 5-7kmph. So ride carefully!!!

But they do make hell lotta money on weekends with the so called alcohol tests!!
I was once tested positive for alcohol with their preliminery test that too when i was not drunk at all!!!
I had my exam next day so was getting notes from a friend (Sat night)!!

    Such is the plight
    My thoughts...

    • INFO:Be careful on new airport road

People going for night rides on the new airport road, please be extremely careful.
My friend had been on a group ride to Nandi hills. Next morning, I hear that they have landed up in jail. My friend insists that none of them have committed any offence. He said that they were caught at 2:30 am in the morning and were allowed to go next morning only after verfication of their personal details.
It seems because of the increased instances of drag racing on this stretch, police have beefed up the security. Previously, there had been an incident in which a cop had been killed when he was trying to stop a drag racer, this has led to the cops them being pretty ruthless on bikers.
I am not sure of the authenticity of the last piece of info, but better be safe than sorry.
      Cheers!

        • Yeah !!! I too have seen a likening ( or disliking ) of Bangalore cops for two wheelers.
I regularly use the Marathalli Ring Road to Electronics City from KRPuram & on the left curve towards KRPuram from beside the flyover, on afternoons & particularly in weekends, these guys are always present with their vans. Rarely have I seen them not stopping some-one on 2 wheels ahead of me !!

But so-far I have been lucky with my Bull. Guess those guys don't enjoy messing with the Iron Lady !!

Damn. That means no more rides on this stretch even early in the morning.

+1 to that. I was meeting a friend after almost 6 yrs and decided to meet him before he boarded his flight at the Intl. airport. Met up with few other of his friends on the way to the airport last sat night. While we had parked on the shoulder I saw at least 15 bikers on RX100's, Honda Dio's and various other bikes ripping like mad. The RX100's were popping wheelie's at almost 80kmph with a pillion on the back and none with a helmet. To top it all there was an truck with no cargo or load and it was also racing with these bikers changing lanes and driving all over the road, pushing other vehicles to the side and muscling its way forward. In a span of 20 mins i saw at least 3-4 groups of at least 5-6 riders who were riding like maniac's, performing stunts at high speed, with a pillion rider and with no lid's on and that too on a busy road. This road IS busy at night considering so many Intl. flights take off or land in blore.

Further ahead i saw one group who stopped as there were cops waiting for them and they just turned around and started riding in the wrong lane of the main road (not the service road). The frustrated cops were throwing their lathi's across the lanes of traffic to hit these bikers on the other side. All this was at 1am. I'm definitely not going that side of town so late henceforth. Thats a disaster waiting to happen. Is it so difficult to catch these morons? Why cant the cops deploy the interceptor at night, chase these buggers and arrest them? Innocent lives are at very high risk.

Same here man. There have been lots of incidents on this stretch in the wee hours, and it is better avoided on 2-wheels. The Logan taxis & private cars ride no less insanely after dark.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Moreover, I haven't seen the interceptors in action between dusk & dawn..
But Karthik, its very foggy these days, & so i wouldn't advise riding to nandi hills late nights or early mornings.. Moreover, the high fog might prevent you from seeing the sunrise itself..
So would advise you to find out from people who have been there recently..
Well apart from the speed limit you need to be in the middle lane if travelling on a 2 wheeler. You can be even challaned if traveling in rightmost lane!

On airport road there are signs for speed limits as 30-60-80.

And below 60 a 2 wheeler has been drawn though very small!!!

2 more locations for the interceptors

                1. Hosur Road after Volkswagon shwroom while coming from EC.
                2. On the indiranagar road.

                So be careful guys.

You need to pay the tax to the RTO as your vehicle is not registered to KA RTO. After that just keep the basic docs like DL, RC,Insurance, Pollution under Control certificate and RTO receipt with you.

Did you check with them whats the speed limit? 60 on the ring-road should be permissible IMO.
I will be commuting on this stretch from this Monday. Any help would be much appreciated.

The cops (interceptors) could stay anywhere in between the stretch of Sarjapur - ORR junction till the Marathahalli Bridge. They usually start at noon after the morning rush hour subsides. They stay till about 4 o clock. So anyone travelling that stretch in between those times are bound to get a speeding ticket (there are very few who actually stay below 60).

Nice thread. I was once fined for overspeeding in the BumbleBee (my 'Blade) in BIAL road. Recorded 'over-speed' was 63 kmph.

So 60 seems to be the limit here too. Will stick to it.

Thanks! Fining for 63 kmph is absurd & more importantly insane. There should definitely be a small margin allowed (say upto 70kpmh). After all, road vehicles aren't as sophisticated as F1 cars to have a speed limiter (like for pit-lane speed restriction to 80kpmh) that takes control at the push of a button.
