      • I own a 2002 Classic Pulsar 180. It has clocked around 90,000 km on the ODO. It has been a friend, a companion and once upon a time a weapon of mass destruction (read 'the fastest on road').

A victim of my twisted experiments, It has never complained or abandoned me in a bad situation. I understand there are 150s that can smoke my bike in every measurable term. But as any real biker knows the bond between the machine and the man is also as important as the tech specs. That bond has kept me from discarding the old lady and going for a younger, perkier hottie (read RTR).

So in a nutshell my ownership experience:7 years, tons of fun, loads of bruises and a hell of a bike.

        • @Bibhu share your sentiments, that was nice man.

now guys there is something happening with "The Bike" that I don't understand.the first time i got the bike i refilled the tank with 10 litres of gas.ok, so at reserve i topped the tank. it took exactly 16.70 litres in it. with a reserve of 3.2 litres that should be 18.9 litres in all.

now i've done around 235 kms since the second refill, that's the tank top-up and the tank looks like it won't even take a litre of gas. i mean the level is still in the neck only. can anybody help me here because the situation beats me completly.

                    • Is there a way to externally distinguish between the front shocks of a Pulsar Classic vs. a DTSi model?

I've got the Pulsar front forks on my RX100 along with a Pulsar disk brake and need to replace the oil seals on them.

I'm told there's a difference between the Classic and DTSi oil seals and I'm not sure which version I have on the bike - and which to buy.

                      Thanks in advance!

                      • Guys really sorry for hijacking this tread..
I have a 2005 P180 DTSi stock, which has run 24000 kms and since 2 months the bike is heating up a lot( heats up if I ride it for 100m from the cold state and I get a burning smell near the engine)...
The pick up has reduced and bike really begs not to rev past the 5000 rpm...
Also I havent changed the spark plugs till now and the plugs arent worn out and the fuel mixture is neither too lean or rich...

I have checked the oil level and it is fine and just to convince myself even replaced it with a Castrol 4T Xtra (20W50) grade as recommended in the manual and the problem persists...

A mechanic said that one of the gears has worn out and hence it is heating up, he said the clutch plate assembly is fine...

                        1) Is it possible that the piston or the piston rings are damaged also? (This is my guess due to the burn smell from the engine)

                        2) Is it possible that one of the gears has actually worn out and hence the heating issue and also i can ride the bike, inspite of a worn out gear

PS: The Clutch plate side(right side) and the magnetic coil (left side) gets hot too...but the exhaust pipe doesnt heat up..

I have also started a thread on the same issue in the HELP ME section.
                        Loking for some sincere advice...

                        Cheers,
                        Ajay

                        • It was worth the wait

                          Hi..
After a long wait and a lot of anxiety I finally got my bike on the 1st day of June -- 'PULSAR - 180 UG-IV' - Blue
Wow.. that is all i could say when I rode it for the first time from the showroom.. The adrenaline rush, the heart thumping plus the excitement all of it was just awesome....

This one is sure an eye-catcher...
The bike -- it’s stunning. The bike feels large due to the clip-ons and the rear set footrests..
The gear shift is smooth & precise. No false Neutral
The bike picks up really sweetly and engine feels smooth very very smooth..
The Bike has a good sporty feel to it. The seats holds you well and gives a good riding comfort.
Handling is really good... I personally felt good at corners..
It’s not easy to keep this beast below the 4k mark I must say... So just being patient during the run-in.

                          Here goes few pics...

                              • Finally bought a Pulsar 180 UG4

Although I have barely posted on xBhp before .... but I have been going through almost all the threads for last few days .... And I must say that xBhp has been a gr8 help in zeroing on a bike :-)

I was badly stuck between FZ-S and bajaj pulsar ...but after a lot lot of deliberations /reading reviews / taking 3-4 test rides of each that too in different conditions (with pillion/without pillion/ highway / crowded streets ) I finally decided to go for The pulsar 180 UG4. I really liked the FZ ... but with all due respect this wonderful bike commands .... FZ-S does not look like a bike which should command a hefty 77600 that it costs in Mumbai ... also bajaj gave me a 1500 discount on cash payment that resulted in a NET saving of 6600 rupees over FZ-S on a bigger/powerful and a bike which has fabulous road presence ( P180 costed 71000 OTR in mumabi after the discount !!!

I rode the bike for about 50 KMs today and believe me the feeling of riding a P180 is just awsome ... be it the power/smooth power delivery/ample torque/engine refinement/gear smoothness/road presence etc etc ..

Interesting it took me 50 minutes (in Mumbai, Shreeram bajaj, ghatkopar ) to take the delivery of the bike ...i.e. I entered the showroom at 11 AM ( I had not booked it beforehand ) I walked out with a Blazing red pulsar before 12 Noon !!! Amazing speed of service by bajaj guys I must say !
