Nothing to worry about. Its just that the idling is high. There is a idling screw on the right ride of the bike below the petrol tank which needs to be turned to adjust the idling speed. But first how much the normal idling rpm i.e on cold start.Originally posted by felix1072 View PostI got my CBZ Xtreme 2011 model today and i also have an issue with the tachometer. Normal idling is ~1500 which is normal. But after driving for a while, it shoots up to above 2000...Originally posted by Ravitej View PostNothing to worry about. Its just that the idling is high. I was using the 5W 40 and the 10W 40 versions of the 300V for long time....the 5W is what i liked the most even though it wont last as long as the 10W version....still its the best oil i have ever used in my bike.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostSame here

Sarban - I'm having to use the motul 3000 4t plus 20w40 since my trusty oil shop isn't stocking the gulf pride 20w40 since the last few changes I did . It's a very good oil and I love it . But just to get a comparative view - how'd you rate it with the gulf or elf ?
The reason i dumped the 300V is cause i have to run around a lot to get it and it has become very expensive also...I rather upgrade my seedbox than spend that much on oil
.
I never tried the 20W 40 mineral from motul though....the shop where i get the gulf stocks it only for me...the next time i will try to get the motul 20W 40 somehow ....may be the yamaha service center will have it? dont know will try anyway

Mileage has dropped drastically. 37 - 38 - 42 for the last 160 kms..
Don't know what went wrong. Am so desp..

And somebody guide me how to adjust the clutch free play. Clutch lever has developed both free play and up-down rocking. Feels so loose.

just check :
1)ur idle RPM after 2-3 minutes of engine start
2)If u twist the throttle and let RPM reach upto ~4K and then leave it , does it come back dheere dheery or jaldi se ?
If ur IDLE RPM is around 1.75-2.0 K, u would need to turn the IDLE RPM SCREW (Right side, below ur oil tank, SILVER COLOR), turn it slowly (in Anticlockwise so it comes around 1500 about 2-3 mins after engine start. this eill ensure that ur IDLE RPM is at ~2K max.
Do follow Run-in guidelines as discussed so many tymes here. Happy riding, and do post of ur ride's pic..

Have u given ur ride for service recently ?? if yes den it might b the case of CARB tuning.. other than that it depends where u have been riding and HOW.tyre pressure is another key factor.. i hope it helps..Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostMileage has dropped drastically. 37 - 38 - 42 for the last 160 kms..

On the right side of ur bike, below ur spark plug there is a clamp setting for CLUTH WIRE,there are nuts on either side for adjusting. moreover u can pull the extra length of wire if necessary.Originally posted by sooraj_vs View PostAnd somebody guide me how to adjust the clutch free play. Thoda sa free play is ok ok, but more than 1-1.5 cm , naaaaahh

Temporary permits will be ready within three days. It wold have been ready by Monday, but its Harthal, against petrol price hike, here in Kerala. Thanks all those people who helped me out here to take a decision on buying a bike. Thanks a lot to our family, xBhp...
I would like to post a detailed review after doin a couple more kilometers.
I Thank Almighty for giving me what my heart wished.
.. dont forget to change the oil <= 200 Km then at 500-600 Km (1st service). Ride within 4-5K rpm range, speed <50-55.
do post pics of ur ride..
i have faced the similar situations. Mostly wen u upshift and ur speed is low.Main to bas neutral ki light dekhta rahta hu k jal na jaayeOriginally posted by Crank49 View PostGear shifting is not so hard, but when i shift UP from 1st to second, false neutrals are there often. Need your comments to reduce my tension.
. gear shifting will get smoother after service and oil change ..

Thank you friend. Will be spending more time on her after getting it blessed, may be tomorrow in nearest temple and completing legal requirements. I did not even have a temporary Permit with it. So I've have to wait some more days to enjoy ma beast. Any way happy to have him with me.Originally posted by Arjun_shetty View PostCongartz on ur new ride bro..mine has done 408 on odo..bike was bit rough, changd engine oil at 365km.nw feels better.I've never driven above 49kmph.tke xtreme care of ur xtreme during running in period.ride safe.
Thank you buddy. I've a few doubts remaining now. I may be changing oil probably on time schedule than kilometer. Will that be a problem?Originally posted by itssaurabh.negi View Postcongrats buddy for ur ride... it sounds hard coz its new.It would also b smelling bad

BTW, if i change oil before the service schedule, will that void bike's warranty? And which is the recommended oil for CBZ? OEM is good enough na?
One more thing i would like to ask is about the free handle grip. Its about 5 to 10 mm thick. Will that affect the clutch??
Once again thanking all ma friends here
And regarding the pics, i will try best to make it fast. . .

Thanks for the reply guys...
The idling rpm at the moment i start the bike is ~1500 but after driving for a while, it stands at ~2.2k. Do i really need to adjust the idling for this or shall i wait till my first service? And regarding pics, here they are...Last edited by felix1072; 10-08-2011, 11:37 PM.

Not at all, but preferably we are supposed to change it well beferr that coz initial few hundred Km's are very crucial for the engine. Its new so it takes a while for its parts to become smother. Most of us (99%) would recommend you to change the oil at 200-250 Km. Engine will smell bad and will get heated up pretty fast as u wud observe so dont push it hard. Ride it slow <35-40, rpm <4-5K.
BTW, if i change oil before the service schedule, will that void bike's warranty? And which is the recommended oil for CBZ? OEM is good enough na?
Not sure bout the warranty
, but it shudnt in my opinion. It just needs opening a nut and filling whole new bottle of Oil.OEM oil is good but its thin and might give you heating issue a bit. But since your engine is new u shud go for 10W30 (brand may differ, see earlier posts or Threads dedicated to engine oils ). As 10W30 is thin it will ensure that it reaches each and every part of ur engine. later on u can try 20W40 after 700-800 Km (Unlike me)

Pls help me on this, as to if anything is there that i can doNo bro 2-3mins is will not show its correct idle rpm.Go for a ride with that rpm setting,so after riding some kms came back to home and look for somthing like this in your bike, this is HH Karizma's Idle speed adjusting screw, you will find something similar in your bike(Marked in black).Originally posted by itssaurabh.negi View Postjust check :
1)ur idle RPM after 2-3 minutes of engine start

Turn it anti clockwise to reduce idle rpm and set it to 1500rpm when the engine is hot ,it will be 100-1200rpm at cold, its completely normal, set it yourself, you dont have to take it to svc for getting it done ,do i and post the results back in the forum.
Tappet loosing is not a problem, sometimes it gets loose after riding for long time @ high speed and rpm.kaash aisa na ho, nayi nayi bike hai yaar :O
Me too think so.Originally posted by itssaurabh.negi View PostHave u given ur ride for service recently ?? if yes den it might b the case of CARB tuning..
When you start the bike in morning set the idle rpm to 1000rpm,so that it will be 1500 when the engine is hot.Originally posted by felix1072 View PostThe idling rpm at the moment i start the bike is ~1500 but after driving for a while
Try any one of the method mentioned above.
