My mechanic managed to scratch the main tubes and that made oil seals go kaput. After that I got the main tubes changed and oil seal has also been changed four times by now but the oil is still leaking from the left fork.

The mechanic is now suggesting me to change the lower assembly of the front forks, which is costing me a bomb.

I am not sure what exactly should I do to get this fixed.

Do we have any good mechanic nearby Koramangala, Bangalore, as I am fed with HH and the mechanic whom I am visiting these days!!
It has nothing to do with lower tube. Check the fork pipes thoroughly and see if there are light scratches. Usually scratches on pipes leads to this problem.

If lower tubes are defective then instead of changing the lower pipes and risking the same problem. Get a complete unit of front shocker and fit directly factory sealed. Sell the new fork pipes that you have changed at a discount.

    SOURCE : Google Search.
This itself proves the capability of the chassis as his technique is not so perfect but he leaned so much. The given pose is for wet roads cornering. The correct pose for cornering is that i have posted of vikrant singh from overdrive cornering.

The extreme footpegs are further back than extreme and i have grounded those.

This dusherra one day my father had taken the Joy and so i had to take the extreme. Was going through the airport road. On the road there is a wide roundabout. Some kids were showing on there bikes, some chicks were sitting on the pavement. Decided to show some style, leaned the bike with the knee pad touching the tarmac and completed 2 rounds of the roundabout with the knee dragging and bike leaned over.

Completed the roundabout straightened the bike dropped a gear and flied off.

Also still pillion is facing vibration once bike reaches post 70 km/hr. What is solution?
I guess shell oil 10w40 wont suit our engine.
will be heading back to veedol 10w30
Bike is running super lean, no doubt on it. Keep the mixture screw at 1.8 turns from full tight and see if the tuning is correct. Most probably will be correct.

I have used Shell Ultra 10W 40 fully synthetic and it doesn't suit the bike. Use 10 W 30 always. And for that vibration in foot rest at every 2000 km clean the chain with kerosene and lubricate with fresh gear oil. Bike will feel smoother and also will feel far better.
nishesh.kumar- Check the wiring properly as one of the wires that carries the power from battery to fuel meter unit is cut somewhere. Even check the fuse in the fuse box. One of the fuse most probably the red one will be blown or will be loose.

      Posting again.

My bike is acting a little weird.

Sometimes, there is no tappet noise at all. It is just very, very mild. But once I hit speeds of around 80-90kmph, the tappet noise returned. I rode around at good speeds, but the sound didn't go away. Then one day, I reached 84kmph and the tappet noise was gone.

This morning, I hit 90kmph and the tappet noise returned.

What is happening? :P FE is quite good. ~50kmpl.

Also, when the bike is stationary, I am able to move the handlebar a few mm forward and backward. Meaning, it appears like the handlebar mounts aren't secured correctly on the plate. What do I for both cases?

        Thanks Sibun

I really liked the idea of getting the entire assembly changed instead of taking same risk again..

Any idea what would be the cost of entire front assembly??

Nothing to worry about tappet noise. Let the camshaft and rockers wear out a little and it will settle. I think the problem is the rockers not set as they are new. Run some more and then we will set the tappet clearance. Do not worry for now.

Ya mileage is quite good. My extreme is returning 55+ kpl when ridden on highways at 70-80 kph and nearly 58-60 kpl when ridden within 4.5 k rpm.

As for the handle bar check the rubber grommets at handle bar where it meets the t-plate. Those would have worn out. Change those. Will cost Rs. 40 for the set of four and go for OE only. Same as splendor rubber grommets. So no problem in finding.

                Hi Sibun,
I did check both the fuse in the box, and also replaced them with spare ones. While refitting the blue(15A) fuse, time got reset. Red(10A) fuse was also fine.

Wiring was checked by the Mech, and I felt that he was not competent enough with bike electricals and was doing hit and trail analysis

Anything else that should be checked?

I've a query regarding Ulysse GPS based speedometer readings. Is it error prone?
Couple of days back I travelled on Jan-Satabdi Inter-City express. Out of curiosity I turned on GPS & Ulysse speedometer, speed varied between 80-100 kmph. I showed it my sister to let her watch and went for a stroll within bogies. On return, she claimed/showed 146 kmph speed recorded. I chucked it saying "GPS must have messed it".

Do you think GPS accuracy played spoil-sport in that case?

Wow never seen that.. wondering how did that oil come out from the top (maybe fork was over filled ? or did the bike have a fall? ) ! Are you sure its coming out from the top end of the fork tubes ? Or did someone spill some oil around that area.

                            • Helmet Stories!

Yesterday evening, I was at Helmet Paradise looking for a helmet.

I immediately told them I didn't want LS2. But they pushed for LS2 saying that MT, Shoei, SOL etc. are manufactured in Chennai while LS2 is imported. They showed me some LS2 and my rationality went down the drain.

                              I ending up liking a LS2 Atmos Black-Red FF351.22.

On the visor, it had a sticker claiming a SHARP rating of 4 and ECE 22.05 certification. Satisfied about the safety, I picked it up. They initially quoted Rs. 4200 then finally settled for Rs. 3750. I get a feeling I could've bargained a lot harded. That said, I suck at bargaining!

Anyway, I got home and was doing some reading about my new acquisition. I was looking for the SHARP rating and found it to be just 1!

Apparently, I am not the only one with this issue.

                              http://www.motorcyclephilippines.com...P-Rating-Issue

And the helmets thread on xBhp also documents the same.

What I found fishy is, I don't want the mercury visor. Night vision is terrible! I was looking for a clear visor when I found that the visors of the FF350 and the FF351 are interchangeable. And coincidentally, the FF350 has a SHARP rating of 4!

Apparently, LS2 expected the same rating as the FF350 for the FF351 as they claim only slight differences that have nothing to do with the basic structure and shell of the lid. So, they stuck the 4 star sticker on the FF351 as well. But a recent SHARP test concluded a safety rating of 1.

Aargh, I am so frustrated! I am going down there this evening to exchange the lid. And this time, I am going to steer well clear of LS2. I am bent on getting the MT Revenge Gloss Black now. Hope they have it. I am not too sure if they are ok with a refund.

                              Any quick suggestions for 5000?

EDIT: Picked up a KYT RC7!

                              Some profile pictures. :P

                              Venting Machine. :P

                              The "Silver" Lining!

My One Night Stand, er, lid! :P

Notice the FF350 label while the helmet is actually an FF351. Strange.

Yes thats the pipe you have to pull out and close the brass nipple to tune.

If you cannot tune properly by my guide just set it to 1.8 turns from full tight and leave it. Bike will run fine.

Get to a bike electrician and check the wiring properly. The current carrying wire from battery to fuel meter will be faulty. Take help of any auto electricians. Will be found where dynamo of cars are repaired.

Thats the shock top nut o-ring leak. Nothing to worry, just get a top nut o-ring (splendor will do), and change it at a garage. Check if shock has too much oil or air pockets in oil which will cause the leakage.

Yes the Hunk, extreme and ZMR have the accurate speedo, and thats why many think they have less top speed as others bike will be showing great numbers when they will be lesser speeds.

I think hero has changed the gear ratios in Hunk as many Hunks i have seen have quicker acceleration than extreme but extreme has greater top speed and also less rpm. Its because my bike hits 117 kph at 9000 rpm and has touched 122 kph at 9400-9500 rpm.

But hunks touch lesser speed at that rpm.

WiKi says 120 kmph max : Bangalore City Hubli Jan Shatabdi Express - Wikipedia

Wiki data is old as many Satabdi's touch 160 kph on few routes. SO 146 kph is no big deal.

Wat can be the possible cause ?
How to get over with this sound?

Thats the timing chain, it will be loose with worn out links causing the rattling.
