  • re: CBZ xtreme / Hunk

    Hi Folks,

My 2007 Xtreme has just clocked 33k and I am experiencing some issues with the front forks.

My mechanic managed to scratch the main tubes and that made oil seals go kaput. After that I got the main tubes changed and oil seal has also been changed four times by now but the oil is still leaking from the left fork.

The mechanic is now suggesting me to change the lower assembly of the front forks, which is costing me a bomb.

I am not sure what exactly should I do to get this fixed.

Do we have any good mechanic nearby Koramangala, Bangalore, as I am fed with HH and the mechanic whom I am visiting these days!!

      Guys need your help.

I am getting vibrations post 4000 rpm & i guess bike lost its smoothness, became little bit of harsh. Handle bar is vibe free but getting little vibes on rider`s foot pegs till 6500 rpm & for pillion its unbearable post 6000+ rpm. Also i`m using shell AX7 semi-synth oil & still such a vibrations, as it supposed to make engine smoother. Its already 7500 kms on odo. How much more need to ride to make engine vibe free..?
This was not there before carb tuning done on last Sunday. Is there any connection between carb tuning & bike`s vibrations. I need to check spark plug`s tip color. Also how to open spark plug. Are we supposed to rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise to open it. Mine so jammed that i dint bothered to applying more force.

      kindly help me..

Tune ur carb as said by sibun dada or else turn the a/f screw 1.75 to 2 turns anti clockwise from full tight position. Hope this will make ur problem gone. And check spark plug by turning it anti clockwise with proper tools.

That is impressive! more than what I expected from this bike, have to change my tyre and need to get quality riding gears before trying it out.

Also still pillion is facing vibration once bike reaches post 70 km/hr. What is solution?
I guess shell oil 10w40 wont suit our engine.
will be heading back to veedol 10w30

I'll get the front forks of my xtreme serviced this weekend. Current ODO reads 42K.Need your opinion on following points.
                    1. I have never replaced the fork oil seal till now because they never leaked. Should I replace them this time or continue with the old one?

                    2. Fuel gauge is not working. It shows full reading while turning the ignition on but after that it remains on zero. Cleaned & refitted the connector located below tank, but issue still persists. Is this due to some wiring fault or weak battery.

                    3. Throttle has become bit hard. Cable is around 18K old. Should I lubricate the cable or replace it?
Got the bike serviced on Friday. Now the ODO reads 42400 Kms. Since My trusted mechanic was out of Delhi, so postponed the fork servicing for him and got the general servicing done from another known Mechanic.

                    Details of job:

                    1. Replaced the battery with Exide XPACK XPTZ5. This is a 4AH VRLA Battery with same dimensions as stock and fits easily in the battery cage. Got 36 months warranty on this

                    2. Changed engine oil with Veedol take off premium 10w30. Last oil was Gulf 4T 10w30 which was used for 2700 kms. Using Veedol for the first time, and I hope it will be better than Gulf

                    3. Replaced Air Filter and Choke cable and got the throttle cable lubed.

                    4. Got the drive chain cleaned with petrol and lubed with gear oil.

Issue: The Mech could not fix the faulty oil gauge Meter.
It shows full reading while turning the ignition ON but after that it remains on zero.
He removed the tank, disconnected the fuel meter connector and shorted the wires coming from other side but meter showed no deflection.
Then he checked all the wiring for open or short circuit, but no issue could be found.
So he gave up and suggested me to consult any bike electrician.
What could be the issue here
@ALL: Please pour in your views and help me out.

Yes, this is Bosch UR5DC plug used in Apache. But, I could not find any improvement in mileage/power. So reverted back to NGK G-Power.

The plug colour is okay . Not lean . But the plug exterior is quite rusty and corroded . Better to replace it now .

My bike odo is 8000 kms. Isn`t its too early to replace spark plugs. Also i was thinking to tune carb by SIBUN's method, should i go ahead or keep carb setting as it is. I lost rubber inserts on engine. So is there any connection between those rubber inserts on engine & vibrations on foot pegs of pillion. Will be changing oil back to veedol take off 4t What would b cost of rubber inserts & spark plug cap (red one) as my cap is loose.

Which part do you mean by rubber inserts on engine ? Those rubber strips on the cylinder cooling fins ? You may replace them , but they are not related to vibrations . Even if early , I don't like the look of that plug . New plug and cap should come within Rs 200 total . Use OE plug-cap and NGK plug . Vibrations may be from many source , difficult to say from here - better to consult a good mechanic who can see your bike hands on . At 8000kms , you can clean the carb bowl and jets and retune it if it has not yet been done on the bike . Try to get tappets adjusted correctly too .

What is the purpose on those rubber inserts on cooling fins then? Why it is provide only on right side of engine`s cooling fins. Previously i had jammed, worn out choke cable problem. At that time to changed choke cable, mech at ASC removed carburetor & told me this bike wont required to open carburetor. Its too early for this. He tuned carb at that time. Spark plug body is rusted that i can see but tip part lokk okiesh (As per my beginner knowledge, you are much more experienced in this stuff) So can i continue using this & change on 10000 kms. Vibrations are not there in handle bar & riders foot pegs when i ride alone. But its more in saree guard post 75 km/hr. For pillion its unbearable if he keep is feet on saree guard. Also there is kch-kch-kch noise like scissor, when engine is idling not audible when bike is in running. Does it means my tappets are loose or tight.? as I am not getting that typical tappet sound.
