Patience is the key to complete any DIY successfully . Don't give up.

It is fairly common for the top cover screw to seize when it is not touched for long time, just keep tapping the screw head with a blunt punch and a hammer and it should get free.
Then try to unscrew it by pressing the screw driver hard so that it does not slip and damage the screw head. Still, if it does not turn then repeat the tapping with hammer &blunt punch.
It can take upto 10mins in some cases, perfectly normal.

        Friends -

Wish you all a Merry XMas and Happy New Year...

My bike has covered 350+ kms so far after the overhaul. Mileage has increased slightly now (42 kmpl), though I had some highway ride this time.
I had noticed a crack in the choke cable outer and choke was getting engaged in between, especially on twisting the handle a bit. The choke cable has been cut loose for now as I hardly need it.
Checked the oil level, found to be ok, checked spark plug and was found dark. So mechanic tuned the carb .
Bike is running smooth - so far so good

          where is every one???
          still on Christmas rides??

          last week I went a ride ~250km. kept ~80kmph

I stopped after first 100 km to take money from ATM, abt 1m
I tried to start it was to starting. like no petrol, applied chock, throttle wide open...
It was very hot near engine. I think its usual.
I tries self several times as I don't have kicker
I pulled out spark plug, it was lighting properly, checked fuel pipe, its also full,
          oil correct level

I waited there about 15~20 minutes doing all these stuff.

I then put it on first gear, give it a push my self and opened throttle wide and clicked the start button.
          It STARTED Bhroom!!

But I still have no idea what happened then.
There was no problem in return journey
gave me a minor heart attack as it was on Sunday, no mechanic nearby.

          some snaps of the trip

It could be the classic case of stuck valve. Few members have reported a similar kind incident here in this thread.
Nice picture there ! But only three ?

              I don't think so,
because Me too had the case stuck valve a few months ago,
then the feeling was the starter motor rotating freely without any load.
and it started when I clicked with open throttle.
but this time it was different, starter motor have load, but engine behaved like a cold start or no petrol.

              Yes only 3 pics available.

Guys need some feedback. The thing is that is it only my extreme or other extreme has same characteristics that is on highway when the speed is between 65-75 kph in 5th gear the bike feels like it is working hard, but after 75 kph till its top speed and even beyond 9k rpm bike feels free and feels like another gear will further increase speed. The thing is below 65 kph and above 75 kph on my extreme feels like ballistic and my extreme just crosses 9k rpm in 5th gear like there is no tommorow. So please give some feedback as after that will decide if carb needs cleaning or re-tuning.

Yes this is same with me too. But 50-65 feels more stressful rather than 65-75, after 6k rpm around 75 I guess acceleration is higher and more thumpy, vibrations reduce and it hits 90 easily, after 90 it climbs even more easily till 109 after which due to wind resistance speed climb is slow, if I crouch then hits very easily 114 kmph. Vibrations are most pronounced in 50-65 zone and dies down after that. Below 65 mine feels powerless, I need to rev it to get torque out of it,though things change after 65 kmph.

That means it is a characteristics. Yes you are right as 50-65 feels more stressful. At 6k rpm bike will be at 78-79(depends on tyre pressure), after that it is just wide grin on face. At 90 kph it is at 6.9k rpm and the bike makes max torque at 6500 rpm and max power at 8500 rpm, so it will be in its power band and thus will be pulling like crazy. I have completely crouched and hit 119 kph at 9.2k rpm and surprisingly bike was feeling like it will go more.So the ignition curve makes the bike feels stressful in between 50-65 kph.
