Thanks bro... I will stick to 10w30 oil
What about honda 10w30 oil..? I heard that it is good for hero honda since the heart is a honda engine...
also what is the price of xtreme's seat cover...?

In between I saw some smoke yesterday and day before yesterday evening on the way back from office.I could see it on a signal stop in the lights of vehicles behind me. But still not sure if it was really from my bike as there were couple of 2-stroke autos behind and when I reached home and checked I couldn't see anything. So was in a confused state-of mind for couple of days to post about my bike.I am optimistic about it now and decided to move on and check the oil level after couple of days. Now, the rebuild details. I couldn't be there with mechanic when he was rebuilding as he did it overnight. I did see the OE parts he had purchased for it, mainly the HH OE bore kit (cost 3100/-).But I noticed that it is again SAL make, nevermind. New rocker arms, valves, timing chain(unicorn), valve oil seal, other orings/oil seals, clutch plate, oil, plug etc.air filter was only 4k old and wasn't changed. He couldn't source OE clutch plates(he says) and was of TVS make!New accelerator cable, clutch cable, fork oil seal, fork oil, swing arm bushes and swing arm welding done.He said he washed the silencer with Kerosene (he says he used 2L ) and water. And the total cost 11.5k including 1.7k lathe charge for crank work and valve seating and 1.5k his labor charge. I think the cost is atleast some 1.5k more and he would've got some commission on purchasing parts.Chain is near the end of life and I could see hook shaped front sprockets, but though of changing it in a month or two.The third gear wheel was not available and even second hand one from old bike was offered for 3.5k (complete gear set)So thought of not changing it.And the bike - there is enough compression on the kick starter. I started it and there is no noise! is it my Hunk itself!Shifted to first gear and went for a short spin around. Was really impressed with it. As the swing arm bushes have been changed and front forks overhauled the ride quality was good if not best. The crank (or bore) noise on deceleration also disappeared. The engine is silent and vibe free and and shifting thru gears is a bliss. There are some vibrations around 4k rpm though.I am restricting it around 4k rpm and occasionally taking to 4.5k rpm. Riding in city traffic, so the bike is in varying rpm always, which I think is good for engine break-in.The bike is moving like an electric bike due to new engine/clutch/accelerator cable(no play)/ and right chain setting.I can feel the refinement almost as equal to the new GS150 which test rode few days back.Signing off for now
Good, to see that you worked upon the old and trusted steed.Regarding the bore kit nothing to worry as the present SAL is of far better quality than the old make. After numerous complaints Hero has changed the quality control and now the SAL make are on par with GOETZE. Nothing to worry. Are you sure it is OE as OE will come with OE packing. Other company clutch plates will not last in extreme. There are Three suppliers of OE plates and they are FCC RICO, MAKINO, and TVS-GIRLING. All are good as they supply according to company standards. But do not think that since MAKINO supplies clutch plate to HERO that means the after market MAKINO clutch plates that you get in its packing is of same quality. The OE and the company packing materials are vastly different. The smoke is normal as your engine was consuming high amounts of oil. So those oils would have stuck inside silencer and thus when the silencer is hot it is smoking. Nothing to worry as after oil gets burnt silencer will get cleaned and smoking will stop.

This time engine was making thud thud sound like it do when it hits reserve with screw rotated slightly ahead of 1/4 turns but dint shut downed. Now my main doubt is how much more i need to turn screw..? Also engine make some really weird noise like there is no petrol for first few minutes after bike turned on. After riding her few kms she became normal. is it common..?
Nothing to worry as your bike is ok. Let the engine run some more and your bike will idle at 750 rpm without shutting down.My bike i have tested and it has gone till 600 rpm before shutting down. As engine gets free it will be ok.And engine making that odd noise while cold is normal as now it is winter and a cold engine will do the same. Nothing to worry. If you will rectify that in order to make cold starting smooth then engine will run excessively rich when hot and will cause a lot of problem. It is factory tuned and do not touch the carburettor as if you do not know how to tune then you will screw the tuning.

Check your forks either it would have been filled with too much of oil or it would have not been pumped properly after filling oil and before fitting the top cap as a result shock getting hard.Regarding your spares i have told that purchase spares yourself and sit with mechanic to fit it. Unless he is quite known never trust a mechanic. My mechanic i blindly trust him and he does excellent. That doesn't mean he doesn't con people, he cons people and i have seen in front of my eyes. He cons those people who bargain with him on labor charge. For example suppose he takes Rs.700 for engine overhaul. There are some people who will bargain for Rs 400 for the work and will not listen, so what he does is that he gets all the money from spares. But that is my mechanic as he cons people who doesn't pay him his justified labor, but who pay him properly he takes care of their bike as own.But there are mechanic in around my friends spares shop and they loot the customers like their is no tommorow. I do not want to say more as regarding there loot it will not finish if i start.

At 42k you need a major service.Do the following works for new like performance:-1. Clean the head and change the valves. Will smoothen the bike and restore compression.2. Change clutch plates as even though they will not have worn but will have hardened as surface would have burned. This will cause the bike to feel numb while accelerating.3. Check chain sprocket and if worn change those.4. Check air filter and clean. If not changed in these last 8k kms change it.5. Check tyres and wheel bearings

Till now after the oil change, I have been riding my Hunk within the city limits only. Somehow, I feel that it vibrates more than what it did when I was using Veedol 10w30. I drained the Veedol 10w30 after using it for 1500kms. Recently, after the temperatures dipped to around 8-10 degrees, it takes 2-3 cranks (just 1 crank with choke) to finally get the engine up and alive. I guess it is with the more viscous oil than the 10w30. Now, I have the option to change to Mobil1 10w30 (mineral) courtesy Honda_cbf. 10300kms on my odo now. Any inputs?
Good oil but choice in wrong season. It is one of the few semi synthetics that behave like fully synthetics but since mercury is low so it will be thick. I have also change to 10 W 40 shell fully synthetic but my bad luck cold has set in and temp in night drops to single digits. So on monday mornings when i go to office then until and unless sun shines and temperature increases to 20+ engine feels sluggish. Rest oil is excellent as when i return on saturdays at 1 PM bike just pulls. In summer it will be better, but as always thinking to shift back to 10W 30 as that rocket like sudden rpm climbing is not there. The sad thing is that here no 10W 30 fully synthetic is available. Only Indian Oil 4T GOBEN 10W 30 fully synthetic was available and that too is not available. You can use VEEDOL TAKE OFF 4T premium 10W 30 and it is semi-synthetic with API SM and JASO MA 2 grade. I have used 3 times and repeatedly drained it after 2200+ kms and the engine sound has never changed nor performance.

This was to happen and i knew for sure as OE plates are so costly for no reason. Those clutch plates not only slips but in comparison to OE plates will be loosing half of the torque while transmitting. There is only one way:-1. Get new OE clutch plates from service center.2. Dip the clutch plate in engine oil(new) overnight. This actually increases the life of plates. 3. Fit it at a trusted mechanic in front of your eyes, else do it in service center in front of your eyes. Hint:- Do it at a small service center outskirts of city as they allow you to watch.

      1. Fork oil should be changed at 10-12k. Use escorts fork oil as it is 15W grade and is good. Have used Motul of 20W grade and it actually slowed the response of the shock.2. Use 10 W 30 grade of Veedol make will be best for bike.3. 10 W 30 increases mileage and pick-up of bike compared to 20W 40 grade oils. But it is not mileage or pick-up but using 20W 40 grade in extreme has been known to cause crank problem.

        1. Do you feel that it needs to be changes? Mine had run around 40000kms when I sold it with the fork oil that came from factory. I know it is advisable to change. But I never felt need. Check the user manual for the reccomened grade of fork oil.

        2. 10w30 is best and safe grade. Gulf 10w30 has been best of oil that I have used.

        3. May be yes but very marginal. Engine oil's primary role is to keep the engine cool, so giving the optimal performance and mileage.

Thanks Sibun for clearing the smoke part
I was so much worried about the smoke as I could notice it yesterday also. It is visible after running say 10 kms.
Mechanic was also saying it could be because of the oil inside silencer, but I hadn't believed him fully

The Bore is OE, I am sure, I could see the Hero Honda packing...
Clutch plate was TVS make, I could see the packing. Clutch feels light as of now and also i do not see any slippage.

Bike has run only 150 kms so far, after the overhaul. I don't rev beyond 4.5k. I think the mileage is pretty low(bike is going to hit reserve today, I will come to know the mileage today). Also I feel some lack of power.
I doubt if AFR is rich, but I am not touching it now. I will wait for some more kms.
          The engine is smooth anyways...

Honda makes 2 of w30 grades, one being mineral and other synthetic

Mineral one is average oil, nothing special (silver bottle)

The synthetic one is worth trying, it is quite smooth and relatively cheap at 600rs (black bottle)

You can try Gulf 10w30 prife 4t plus, it is also very good oil.

Inspected the brake pads they are in good condition (both front and back). Milege got during the trip was abt 50kmpl (at 50-60 speeds sometimes above 70)
So guys what will be the reason behind these problems??? Engine oil was changed before 1200 kms. Is that the reason for poor performance???

At 11K get a proper servicing of the bike. DO the following works for complete performance:-1. Change engine oil.2. Change brake fluid and use DOT 4 From TVS-GIRLING. Even though you get 250 ml and not less still also much better than DOT 3 oil. I usually change the brake fluid every alternate service so 250 ml gets over. When i first changed my brake fluid nothing much difference when i used DOT 3, but second time when i used DOT 3 brakes were not good. I felt the need for brake overhaul has come but as a last measure though what was there in new bike that i have changed and i came to conclusion that OE has DOT 4 brake fluid. So bought TVS GIRLING brake fluid and changed and brake feel and performance was back to new.3. Spark plug- No need if working ok.4. Air filter- compulsory5. Brake pad- No need if not worn out as it will not be of any use.

It mentioned cost on barrel as Rs. 24,442/- for 220 liters, means 111 Rs. per liter & this folks charging as per bottle charge (Rs. 215 as mentioned on bottle)+ taxes+consumable=239 Rs, charged me on 1st my bike`s service.
Where as when i changed oil by myself 1st time, bought oil bottle from ASC which costed me Rs 215 (191.11 =oil bottle price + VAT 12.5%= Rs.215/-).
I know this might not be help full post but just posted for information.
                            Did any one noticed this..?

Cost is Rs.220.Nice, very well maintained. I especially like people who look after their bikes. As in the movie TRANSPORTER Jason statham said " A man is known by the car he keeps" Similarly i feel that A MAN IS KNOWN BY HOW HE MAINTAINS HIS RIDE.At 11K get a proper servicing of the bike.

Thanks bro.... I will do all these works you mentioned and restore the performance... But what about tappet adjustment is it necessory? I can hear a "tik tik" noise from the engine..
