Motul/OKS/TVS? any others? Pics would be appreciated.

BTW, if u want to buy....buy a degreaser from OKS, i'm using it. You can get from bistupur, just near chhaganlal dayalji.
Dont know about lubricant, its depend on its availability, u know its jamshedpur & not kolkatta.
But let me tell you, buy only if u have enough money and u dont know where to spend
    kero is very cheapest method!

Babu, enough money toh nahi hai....but 1st time indulging! Let us see.
Kero is cheap (and best) but time taking---family already super angry with me for spending more time with bike and not them!
Btw, I found out a good shop which stocks really good sprays, waxes, etc. is a shop beside MRF Auto Junction in Bistupur Gajraj Mansion. Diagonal road pe.

OT: My Hunk is at the SVC due for its 4th free service. Given an extensive list for greasing and lubrication, etc. If free this afternoon/tomorrow, let's go for some window shopping for our bikes. Whatsay?

Yes kero is time taking job and makes your hand dirty. Degreaser is for those who have very time to spend and dont want to dirt their hands. So its good for you.
But let me tell you, u need to frequently wash it, coz if u late, chain will become more dirty, nasty with mud, sands not sperm, then degreaser is not going to do any magic.
If i guess one cane will last for about 4-5 wash.

        • I had made the bike 1/4th turn richer. But this is what the spark plug still looked like.

Also, even when I turned the AFR screw to fully tight position, the bike wouldn't switch off. How come?

This is showing richer mixture. Clean the carburettor thoroughly as your mixture setting is not coming out correctly.

It will not switch off as this is fuel screw and not air screw as in splendor. So your bike will not turn off. At 1.6 turn your bike would have run good.
Check your spark plug, i think your plug is defective and not be able to fire properly.Check it properly.Clean your carburettor properly and see that the problem is set right.
Also i think this plug is defective. Go for champion plug which comes with new extreme

Thank you for the feedback Sibun. I thought that the carb had to be cleaned because it hasn't been cleaned in close to a year now. The mech I used to give it to shifted to Jamshedpur. And I'm sure the ASC will not touch the carb leave alone open it to clean it and I'm too scared to open it because I don't know how to. Would be nice if you could guide us on how to do it ourselves.

And yes, this wasn't the right spec plug as well. It was CPR6EA7 or something. I don't know of what significance this is, but just letting you know. Will change the plug soon.
Can you tell me the right rating for the spark plug I should get now?

That is honda shine plug which you are running. The part number for it is CPR7EA9. It is a hotter plug and will easily foul if running on rich mixture. From the photos that you have posted, your bike was running too rich before and thus the plug is already sorted.
Nothing to worry about cleaning the carburettor. Just follow the DIY post posted by CBF in DIY thread, on stunner carburettor. Ours carburettor is almost same in construction and you will easily clean it.

Follow step by step instruction in that thread and you will be able to clean the carburettor.
Also the part number for original plug is CPR8EA-9.
Also regarding carburettor tuning, i am going to meet my mechanic today and will ask him what is the best way to tune the carb of extreme. He will surely tell me a much better and easy way. I will update after i return from my mechanic.

@all- i had used 60/55 watt bulb in my extreme. The bulb glows to full brightness after 4k rpm and at 3k rpm the light output is more like 55 watt. Those of you who must have converted to 60/55 watt on AC would have noticed the low beam glowing to full brightness before high beam.
But the problem is that i was using spare bulb provided in my maruti A-star which is of JAGAN brand. My OE 35/35 watt bulb is of philips germany and thus the focus is much better and the light is more brighter. So this bulb has a slight yellow light and thus i didn't like it. I will be able to comment after i use bulbs from philips and osram which i will get soon. However i am on lookout for 50/45 watt H4 bulb which will be perfect for our bikes.

yes sir,i am using 55/50 instead and would love to have 50/45 in my ride to minimize the switching delay between Hi & LOW beam. By the way my ride has clocked 16K kms, should i go for a Carb cleaning??my free services are over and i personally dont see any good in getting paid service in SVC. I feel lack of pickup and power loss with a pillion. I guess its high time for me for a thorough check of my ride.

Hi ashwin, can you please share the details of your mechanic? You see, I am in Jamshedpur currently!

@All Xtreme/Hunk owners of Blore: I know this WILL sound 'crazy/weird/nonsensical' but I just wish to clarify an 'insane' claim by one acquaintance of mine. He claims that Hero MC has 'officially' launched variants of the xtreme and planning to come with a new Karizma which has, hold your horses - Nitrous Oxide cylinders!! (This launch is reportedly, restricted to Blore only! The variants come in electric blue and green color) I didn't believe a word of his but he fought and argued the whole day. I just wish to know how far is this true, if at all?

                    My arguments against:

                    1. N2O is illegal.
                    2. No such performance mods possible 'legally' in our country.
                    3. Such a small cubic capacity engine with N2O installed will have its brains blown off in no time.
                    4. No 'official' news anywhere on the World Wide Web
                    5. Google stops answering the query - going by the insane claim made. :P

Haha. Well, his name is Akhil Tivari. I don't know his contact number nor his address. He left very suddenly. But from what I heard last, he doesn't work anymore. Unfortunately.

This is pure junk. :P I see no way of Hero actually endorsing NOS systems for a bike, moreover in India. It's not even a common thing abroad with the higher CC motorcycles. No way our small displacement, single cylinder engines can handle it. :P

                      • Outside Service

got my bike serviced at a outside mech familiar to one of my frnd.total charges : 400rs. Work Done :
1)Accelerator cable change(140rs) i said 60-70 rs ki hogi bhaiya,he replied 70,000 Rs ki gaadi mei 70 rs ki cable aayegi kya bhaiji
2)Carburetor Cleaned alongwith jets (huge difference in pickup,my bike seems to take off on a small twist of throttle,i was missing this thing since ages)
3)Rear brakes adjusted (earlier SVC guys used to tighten that rod-spring which used to be ineffective after 20-30 mins, now braking is better but i m wondering why thats adjustment nut at the end of rid is almost on the lat thread,i mean if i loosen it slightly more it might fell off.He said fitting was not proper from the inside.
                        4)Waterwash+polish (hardly matters )
5)chain lock chaged (earlier one was making noise as per him, wondering how a lock can make noise )
there was no oil change as i did it some 4-500 kms back.
i am so happy to see my bike back in its early days where its raw power was hard to handle,i hope it remains the same for a loooong time unlike early services where we see some improvements in our bike and after few days its back to normal state. Is this charge nominal or slightly over ???

And regarding the carb, the carb cover(The black plasticky thing) had 2 screws, of which I'm not able to remove one. I don't know why I've such good luck with all the screws on my bike. :P

                          • Perfect combinations of no of turns of AFR/IDLE RPM screw

Hi All, can someone tell the best IDLE RPM / AFR setting for or bikes so that it neither gives startup problems in cold and neither the RPM overshoot beyond 15-1600. i tried 1.6 Turns of AFR from full closed position as explained by Sibun, and adjusted the RPM accordingly to 1.5 at HOT. but this morning bike didnt start without increasing the RPM and lateron when i stopped at traffic my RPM was 3000. I dont want to adjust this RPM again nd again,so would like to know the exact number of turns from the full tight positions.

I dont want to adjust this RPM again nd again,so would like to know the exact number of turns from the full tight positions.
I cannot say about AFR ..as my carb is factory tuned..

But my rpm needle is 1550 rpm when hot ( 50- 70 km run ) and drops to 950 rpm when cold..

and when cold it does not stall or switches off... So its best to keep needle when hot BTW 1600-1500 , So when cold it drops to 950 rpm..
Carb Tuning made easy (Thanks Sibun !)
