How old is the bike. If it is more than 3 years old then clean the petrol tank thoroughly and change the petrol tap. Most probably it is a faulty petrol tap.
And regarding swing arm change it with the new black swing arm.

See Attached pic,its metal chasis part which holds your rear tyre and Shocker part.

                Bingo!!

In extreme shift in such a way that it doesn't fall below 6500 rpm as it makes its maximum torque at that rpm.
Wont it decrease the mileage ???
Thanks for such a statistical comparison between these bikes.A modified sprocket will make CBZ-X better IMO.

How can it affect the mileage,as it shouldnt affect the available fuel quantity ?? Will check it though coz me having same problem. from almost empty condition i fill 3lt fuel.Turn ON and it runs 70 odd kms, after then it switches to reserve. In reserve it hardly goes beyond 50 thus resulting in a avg mileage of just 40 .

This is how it works, in ON position fuel is allowed to flow only upto a certain mark, but when we put it to reserve the mark is lowered so that more fuel is let out. If suppose some dirt accumulated in the lower part, then would'nt it prevent the fuel passage, Hence making the user believe that the reserve capacity has diminished.???

                  • @kalli - Get your tank cleaned because most probably dirt in tank stops the flow of fuel from tank. The swing arm thing was not for you but for satson.
@itssaurabh.negi - Yes shifting above 6500 rpm will decrease mileage but here we are talking about maximum acceleration and how we can take out the actual performance of extreme.
A modified sprocket in the case that you have only to change to bigger size front sprocket of unicorn (15t, cost - rs 70-80).
On highway maintain a rpm of 6000-6500 rpm then see it will return maximum mileage as at maximum torque a engine performs optimally.
At 6500 rpm the speed will be approximately 80 kph. Change to 15 t sprocket will give a speed of 85 kph at 6500 rpm.
My extreme is only 2 servicing old but is returning 55 kpl in city and 60-62 kpl on highway. The engine is at factory tuning. Till now neither me nor my mechanic has tuned it and i know my mechanic is a genius in tuning as he tunes in such a way that the bike gives maximum mileage with maximum performance. My friends extreme tuned by my mechanic and with 15t front sprocket is returning 65-68 kpl on highway.

It definitely will, but just the FLOW not the AMOUNT i guess.

Let me check my fuel pipe,i hope everything gets ok for us all.

So normally we change the front sprocket, not the rear one ??AFAIK Smaller Sprocket:Good pickup, less top speed
Larger sprocket:Low starting pickup, high top speed while its the reverse for rear one, right ??

My friends extreme tuned by my mechanic and with 15t front sprocket is returning 65-68 kpl on highway.
65-68 ?? Kya baat kar rahe ho yaar,so should i try changing my front sprocket, coz i dont want top speed,i prefer pickup than top speed as we hardly race (or dont get chance to touch those 100+ speeds ).

                        • But saurabh, a larger front sprocket gives better mileage, but lower pickup..
if something could give both these, who would want to miss one..?

                              Nothing, it gets evaporated.

I've had almost a glass full of water enter the tank when my drain hose was blocked. And yet the bike gave hickups and stalled, but when filled with petrol, the issue went away.

                              • For those who're interested in sprocketing.

Drop the idea while its young, the main reason being, if the company knew there was a feasible way to increase the mileage then they sure would've opted it. And here are some other major things you should consider.

                                1. Increased strain on internal components.
                                2. Faster wear of clutch/drive chain/ rear tire.

So I advice everyone to think twice or maybe thrice before opting for the same, I say this cause a while back I was also into it, but when the negative side weighed more than the positive side, I dropped the idea.
