3)Never cross 6K RPM,you can occasionally ride @ 5K but that too for few seconds.

4)Vary the throttle smoothly, not abrupt as most youngstrers do.(though ur signatures made me doubtful )

Dude! Signatures don't show the whole story!
I'm one of those riders who would never 'torture' my ride and go to any extents to keep it new even after years of usage!

5)In each gear try to vary the throttle from 2-4.5 K range ,and dont ride at a constant RPM for too long.

The new Engine though heats up. Say, after 30 kms. of continuous riding. AFAIK, riding with a constant RPM does not put much stress on your engine.

6)Avoid heavy pillion (unless its ur girlfrnd/parents )

all nd all enjoy ur ride and forget the worries.

I am past 300 kms but did not go for a oil change. I thought I would get it done during my 1st free service!

        • Planning a highway trip

Guys i'm planning a ride to my hometown later this month on my new Hunk.
I would cover a distance of roughly 350+ kms.
Any inputs for the trip? Do I need to go in for an oil change before I start the trip? (BTW this will be before I give it for the 1st free servicing).

I had planned about changing the oil (& give it up for the first service) post the highway run.

P.S. On the odometer, the current odo+the planned trip would make the total kms somewhere around the 600kms mark before I give it up for 1st servicing.

          • Front tyre change of my new xtreme.

Hi guys.today changed the front tyre of my new xtreme as i wasn't happy with the stock tyre.Got michelin M45 3.00 18 TT with great difficulty as michelin no longer produces or imports that tyre here in India.paid 1700 and 300 bucks for tyre and tube respectively.Sold the stock tyre for 500 bucks.Totally costed me 1550 bucks including fitting charge. But the look and handling of the new tyre is awesome compared to stock 80/100.

Do an oil change, GULF/Castrol/Shell 20W40 /10W30 will be good. During your first long ride.let it open a bit occasionally (take it upto 50 for few seconds and then off the throttle).keep varying your rpm meanwhile.
You can go for ur first free service between 500-750 kms.try to be on time .

                      • Was away for the week due to exams

Heres an update on my prob

Rode 82 kms in reserve then i got 200 rs/- petrol(2.72 ltr approx) and the bike ran an odd 20 kms and git reserve again but to my luck as soon as i was hitting reserve there was a petrol bunk nearby so i exactly got in 1 ltr of petrol and the bike ran for 46kmpl and then it hit reserve

Even I wanted to stick with tubeless but unfortunately Michelin doesn't have tubeless here in India.Neither does other brands have broader front tyre in tubeless mode.I tried few dealers from delhi like KRP,Aman international for 90/90 18 tubeless under DURO,IRC,VEE RUBBER.But none of then had those tyres in stock and they can't import those tyres now a days because all the tyres which will be sold in India must have ISI mark.
