Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
450rs i think is for a pair. and usually the local spares guys give a 10% discount and you can probably test the horn (some shops have a small contraption that lets you check out horns before buying)Originally posted by sarinsari92 View Post

I did not check if it was for a pair, there were a lot of customers at that time and the shopkeeper was going crazy
I only need to buy one horn (not a pair) right???

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
A single horn is sufficient. Two (as in a pulsar 180/220) would be nice and louder.Originally posted by sarinsari92 View PostThanks again!!!

you can also check out other good aftermarket brands like roots, minda (these are usually available at some spares shops) or hella. These brands cost anywhere from 200rs up to 800 for a single/pair of decent horns.

Today I went to the spares shop again, you were right "s1d" 450rs was for a pair.I told the guy I only needed one but he told me you won't notice any difference in sound with a single pulsar horn.I asked him for the relay also.Originally posted by s1d View PostA single horn is sufficient. When I told him it was for the dio he told me to buy the stock FZ 16/Fazer horn but sadly he didn't have any in stock ,he also told me its a direct fit and no relay is needed. Then I asked about Minda/roots/hella brand, the guy said both yamaha and bajaj uses "Minda" as stock horn.
(Honda uses some other brand, mine is "Blowell" brand).Need to pay a vist to yamaha ASC
soon

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Yeh, Minda is OEM for a lot of manufacturers. My suggestion is, whatever aftermarket horn you use, just throw in a relay. It doesn't take much of an extra effort to wire it in. If you are satisfied with the FZ/Fazer horn then go ahead with that.Originally posted by sarinsari92 View PostToday I went to the spares shop again, you were right "s1d" 450rs was for a pair.I told the guy I only needed one but he told me you won't notice any difference in sound with a single pulsar horn.I asked him for the relay also.

I bought the FZ horn,High (there are two types of FZ horns,High and Low). Its minda branded, got it for 140rs from yamaha ASC also wired in a four pin relay and now its just perfect, not too loud but still way better than the stock horns.Originally posted by s1d View PostYeh, Minda is OEM for a lot of manufacturers. Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Go with mrf.Originally posted by ponbaarathi View PostWanna change my father's Activa rear tyre.. any suggestions? And what will be it's cost?
If it also has a tube, get the tuff-up tube from the svc.
Mrf will cost about 1100~1600 depending to tube or tubeless.
Other option is Ceat which is a bit cheaper.

It is based on the road conditons.
1. If your father will be driving in good city road, the go of MRF Zapper (Available in Tube and Tubeless)
2. If he is driving in rugged road go for Ceat Secure Neo (Front) and Ceat Gripp (Rear) which provide better grip.
If am using the second combo for more than an year and is provide very good grip and confident riding in rugged roads.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Hello,
Hot air(I mean really hot) is leaking from the underside of my dio from the joint where the exhaust pipe is attached to the engine case.No cracks on the pipe,No change in engine sound.Contacted the ASC but they just tell its nothing serious and does not even tell me what is causing the problem. Some times it just gets too hot in traffic jams on hot days,it burns my feet.
I tried google,Google search provided me an answer that is "Gasket leak"(Not sure)
What is a gasket leak? and Can I fix it myself
or do I need to seek professional help?

It's the exhaust gasket (some mechanics call it 'packing'). Should be a 15 min job to replace it.Originally posted by sarinsari92 View PostHello,

Are you sure its from the area where the exhaust pipe connects to the engine ?
Please get it checked at another mechanic or service center and see what they have to say. I doubt a bad exhaust gasket could cause that much unbearable heat.

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
Yes,its coming from the joint where exhaust pipe meets the engine.I removed the rear body (seat) today to recheck it and noticed some oily substance mixed with a lot of dust on top of the engine case(piston case). Also some oil has come out from the exhaust joint and become tar like substance (cleaned it with sandpaper).Originally posted by s1d View PostIt's the exhaust gasket (some mechanics call it 'packing'). How much would it cost to replace the exhaust gasket ?

Re: Honda Dio, Activa and Aviator
The oily dust mixture you mention is nothing major.. It's just a minor oil weep from the head cover gasket that collects dust over time. If you want To fix this, get a new head cover gasket(cost around 50rs) and put it back together with some gasket sealant.Originally posted by sarinsari92 View PostYes,its coming from the joint where exhaust pipe meets the engine.I removed the rear body (seat) today to recheck it and noticed some oily substance mixed with a lot of dust on top of the engine case(piston case). Regarding the exhaust gasket, I think it costs around 25rs. You can get it done from a local mechanic, it's not complicated just requires removing a couple of bolts and putting in new gasket.
Labor for these repairs, would probably be under 100rs.Last edited by s1d; 10-09-2016, 01:07 PM.
