What's so special about this ss 125 aka gladiator? Never ridden one.
Well, honestly, there isn't much that is very special about the bike. Its got a big bike feel when one rides it. That makes a difference while riding, because all the time you feel you are riding a much more powerful bike than you actually are. Power delivery is decent. And the top end is pretty good for a 125cc bike. And well as already mentioned its pretty good around the corners. Other than that its a good old reliable commuter

      • Well said prashanth, Its the best bike to commute in city, the top speed is 100km, easily reaches 70+ without much twisting of throttle and is extremely stable at high speed, no vibrations at all. The engine and gears are silky smooth, Delivers a good mileage of 60-65 at 50 km/h. Type SS has great looks comparing to the older gladis. Brakes are good. Its real fun around fast corners.

Dude, its the only 125 cc bike that give you the feel of 150 cc...
With almost 2 year & 30K kms experience with it I can say the only CON were,if you are looking for milage( around 50 kmpl) & some rusting issue in silencer(bad metals used).
          Looks quite plain Jane...
Top speed -105,accelerates faster than any other 125 cc,one of the best handlers in India,Have scraped my knees around corners(with MRF tires though).
Awesum tourer- have toured a lot, with extreme comfort.cruised at 80 kmph for long without straining the engine( I always repent selling it)

You should get a mileage of 60+ if you don't abuse your bike too much

Actually 60+ is quite hard on the gladi. I have gotten it in the past but i was riding extremely carefully. I mean the whole time i was only thinking of mileage in my head and riding accordingly. In stop and go traffic and all the chaos in Bangalore i struggle to get 55kmpl.

              • need help

hi i am sorry if i am putting this up in the wrong place, but this seemed the best place of all to ask

A friend of mine own the ss125 and he complains that the handle bar is uncomfortable on rides greater than 50km, i suggested to get clip-ons but the problem is i got no clue which ones could be used and if it has to be fit with some modifications then can anyone throw some light on it thanks in advance

I have seen a few gladiators with clips-ons. So it can be done. Well, You will have to explore J.C Road for clip ons. Thirumala auto accessories should have options. But beware this modification may not be ideal. Both in terms of how the bike rides and even in terms of the uncomfortable ride.

SS has comfortable handles, so if he is having any trouble, most probable reason for uncomfy is if the handle bar is bent or is not uniform, ask him to get it checked at svc, also he may need to check if his ride posture is not proper.

I don't recommend the clip-on ones for SS, as they dont give you any added advantage and these fitted for an bike where you dont lean on the tank are even more uncomfortable after an hours ride.
There are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

no dude,I tried every thing,(cruising below 50 kmph to cruising above 80 kmph & tried every stat of tuning)in those 2 yrs.... milage was never above 53-54 kmpl....
& even my neighbor has one since 4 yr (that was my reason for selling mine ).... his experience is also the same....
                          I always say,its a total "Performance" bike...

I tested the mileage on highway in a constant speed, the figures may differ on stop and go traffic.

Yeah with really sane riding at constant speeds and no heavy acceleration you can get 60+. I managed 67kmpl once. But day to day riding never get above 55.

The only bike with engine kill switch & tacho. Don't think ybr 125 have a tacho.

IMO the rear tire is skinny(remember r15 v1 first impression) i could able to brake it quickly. Any one changed to 100/90 section rear tire?
