Y. Chose to skip Banaswadi, Marathahalli CBZ. All 3 CBZ are equidistant from my place. Mr. Raja serviced the bike. Job better than autho SS is all I can say for now. They were cool with Veedol. I made a mention that my friend got his Gladi having probs in rain fixed here; they said to bring in moreOriginally posted by prashanth lobo

. A day-trip sounds great, but my weekends are sort of reserved for our zero bhp time trials; & I need some one's approval in turn

Hey guys,
Went to Muthati today... Its a place near Bangalore on Kankapura Road... I think that is NH207... not sure... Place was ok... Pretty scenic... Stayed there for sometime n came back... Sadly don have pics to share cos i dint carry my camera... One of my other friends did... The ride to and fro for me from my house was about 240 kilometers... The ride was fun... The bike behaves really well on the high way... Mini tourer i must say... Was doing about 70-90 most of the time... Except while passing through villages and when stuck behind huge trucks
... Mileage i got only about 45... Thats what im getting these days because of some hard riding... But i ve stopped caring... I'm happy with the way my bike is performing and i never really bought the bike for the mileage... Anyways i had a fun day... Thought id share my ride with you all...
Regards,
Prashanth

FE dropped to 48 kmpl post service
Prelude: I noticed that the Gladi could rev to 9k RPM in 4th gear, but could not in the 5th gear. & would not touch the elusive 105 kmph on the speedo.Originally posted by TomSawyer View PostPilot screw was slightly adjusted. Bike revs harder; bit concerned about FE now. Gear shifts are smoother.
Mentioned this to the CBZ mech. He bragged that he'll 'tune' it for me
. Messed with the idling screw + pilot screw on the carb. Air-fuel mix is richer now. Noticed Excess carbon deposits on spark plug electrode. Exhaust smells with hints of unburnt fuel. No wonder about the hard revving & the torquier feel. Prior to this 'tuning' FE was 57 kmpl.
If tuning is all about pilot screw + idling screw, I'm no noob
. Fooling with the pilot screw has resulted with drop in FE, & no perf gain.

. Did you hit any offroad trails?

No man... Couldn... Hoping to do it some other time... I was with friends from college and they were not too interested in doing off road and all... They were happy just reaching that place and parking themselves in some nice shady place...
N hope you get your bike tuned back to normal... Maybe my bike has the same prob... Though i ride it hard i don think FE should go down that low... Anyways im dont really know how to check if my bike is running rich or lean... So i guess i should learn...Last edited by prashanth lobo; 05-28-2009, 10:45 PM.

I dint find any reliable mechanic in Bangalore till date. Its time to service ma babe. Lemme know where do you service ur bike.
I stay near electronic city. But I dont mind travelling for some distance to get a good service.
Thanks in advance!!

Hey Balaji,
I service my bike in Castrol Bike Zone( Nimisha Bikes) in Ramamurthy Nagar... They do the job well... I was really impressed with their work.
But as Kaveriappa pointed out that his tuning has not been properly done( he went to the same CBZ)... He is getting low mileage... Even i am getting pretty low mileage...
Even i am in search of good mech who can tune my bike properly... Many people say that only a very good mech can tune it to perfection...
Anyways if it is only oil change, lubrication etc that has to be done without any tuning and messing around with the carb... Then u can go here or any other CBZ ( as long as u have time to stay there and watch their work)
And if you find a good mech somewhere kindly let me no too...
Regards,
Prashanth...

Well, I'd say that's not fully true. See the reason below why the carb was messed with:Originally posted by prashanth lobo View PostBut as Kaveriappa pointed out that his tuning has not been properly done
I asked for something, got something done in return & Results are not too pleasing. Trying to burn more fuel, & not burning all of itOriginally posted by TomSawyer View PostPrelude: I noticed that the Gladi could rev to 9k RPM in 4th gear, but could not in the 5th gear. & would not touch the elusive 105 kmph on the speedo.

. Factory setting are always a safe bet.
Not yet. I'll ask around, & DIY this Sunday. & the CBZ is good if you dont drop your guard when ur there.Originally posted by prashanth loboHave u got the carb tuned to the right settings??

Okay... Thanks
... Do let me know after your DIY this Sunday.... N about not hitting 105... You can achieve it on factory settings for sure... Because i had done a 108 when my bike was being serviced at Yamaha SC itself
