One of my friends has rs200. Religiously needs 2 to 3 self to get it started in Delhi's chilling cold.

& Yeah it does have FI.

I also have the double disc variant and haven't faced any starting issues .. but like you have heard that DD has battery issues .. I saw a person with rear drum having battery issues at the SVC .. his bike was not that old .. i think a year old .. and his battery was dead .. i asked him why .. he said he didn't use the bike for like 15 days and now the battery is dead .. so i think everybody has different experiences .. you can go with what majority of the people are saying .. personally i would go with a bike having FI with no kick rather than a carb bike with a kick

Self start, 99% of the time in first crank, once in a blue moon second crank. Carb, 9 years old and north of a lakh and quarter on odo and no kicker.

I have a intensely interesting phenomenon in this regard. It does come alive and stays warm 99% of the times. For the rest 1%, the engine dies and you are in for a wild time ahead.

The thing is, after a 3 or 4 days out in the winter, if accidentally it doesn't catch the first spark, it just doesn't want to start anymore.

              Any light on this?

Some instances like stuck valve, worn carb slides, dead battery (end of life) includes in that 1%. Don't like decimels [emoji13]

To this part of the country, coldest is the December and no issues faced with cold starts also. BTW running on NGK G-Power since almost the beginning.

                    Guys,
I know this has been discussed countless numbers of times but i need additional information. So posting here.

My FZ 2011 (carb) requires tyre replacement. Stock RevZ 140/60 R17 was puncture magnet (micro punctures) which lasted so far due to my lower usage. But i want to replace it now with something more durable. (old tyre was constantly losing pressure since it crossed 10,000kms). I see there are a lot of options in 140/70 size. I want to stick to 140/60 as 140/70 tyre would reduce low end acceleration.

                    I wanted to know:

                    1. Are new RevZ series tyres from MRF any good?? i don't want to suffer same puncture issues. How is ceat? i see they recently launched a 140/60 size tyre.

                    2. I was planning for Masseter/pirelli sport dragon/zapper S for rear 140/70.Will there be a significant reduction in acceleration? Bike is used by my father who uses it in 100% city and wants higher FE. If there will be reduction, will downsizing front sprocket to 13T help?

Regarding sprocket, you can go for 41T rear one from v2.

I have v2 and never faced puncture so far riding on all terrain. So latest mrf does juz fine.

I placed my fz service in YAMAHA ASC (CHENNAI), they charged:

                          My Request for Service:

                          1. Chain sprocket set, Rubber Dampeners, Ball Bearings * 2 = 2500
                          2. Rear Brake Shoe = 400
                          3. Clutch lever = 300

They Advised, they checked and found it needs replacement

                          1. Choke set = 600 (Cable + choke Piston)

They told changing the Choke set provides jerk free and fuel efficiency

Is the charges Normal or they Quoted high....

Recently got MRF Rev-Z Y rear tyre as it was only option in stock size available. Hoping it wouldn't be a headache stock Rev-Z of FZ v1 was.

There is one peculiar issue i am facing. Please watch the video:

My FZ isn't being used much but i remember that pulling choke used to increase idle RPM to around 1800-2000RPM. Yesterday i noticed that whenever i pull choke, RPM increases to 4500RPM which seem abnormally high. This happens all the time, regardless of engine temperature. What could be the reason?

Did you try getting your carb settings adjusted? The idle setting is about 1200 rpm and AFAIK, the choke should take the bike to 2500 to 3000 range. Varies with bikes. It seems like your bike is revving to much. I would suggest getting the choke lever and connections checked as well. It's (faulty choke) a common issue on V1 machines.

Bike idles just fine without choke (1200 RPM) and runs without any misfiring. Seems like something is wrong with choke. Will visit a mechanic whenever i can.
