ive done 100kms on my fz.. been keeping it at 50.. shifting up between 3k-4k rpm... but today i got tempted and took of.. till 80... just cant resist... how bad does it affect the mileage and engine? my frend says its better to rip once in a while.. opens out the engine.. is tht so? anything else i need to do?

No need to put any mod, just ride it at speed of more than 110 for nearly 7-8 km at a stretch,Fz will definitely be producing some deep grunt & it will stay forever even at low rpm.My personal xperience.& FYI I am still getting 43 km/ltr from the day 1 I bought my Fz with no negetive effect on engine.Running strong for nearly 2 years. And about the grunt I put my video in here at some post I cant remember though. You search it in here.Originally posted by vishal monster yamaha View Postguys, im new to xbhp but not to biking. this site is awesome
. congratulations to all other yamaha fz owners. i have a query. my bike is about 1k kms old. i want to improve its sound characteristics. i dont want aftermarket exhaust systems. i would prefer performance filters because of their intake roar. the bike remains silent until you rip it. i love that sound on my friends cbz extreme. im ready to fit the k&n rc1060 filter, except, i dont know the proper jet size to upjet to
. some magazines say increase the jet size by 10. ex:if the stock one is 100 upjet it to 110.
has anyone done the proper upjetting. if so, then wats the best jet size and its price

...
if there is already a thread or link for this info, can u pls share it with me
.
my first priority is sound. the performance is just a bonus i feel.
pls help me out guys.

Hi Alto,Originally posted by alto View PostBut will the black painted silencer pipe and lower portion of the engine not get rust due to too much contact with water ?
When the bike is running, those parts get heated enough to turn the water into heat, so do not worry about rust & also the thickness is more so won't cause any issues otherwise Yamaha would have thought of something else
. One suggestion try not to park the bike in open when it is raining to avoid rusting. Check the bolts & nuts (the ones which are galvanised) for rusting.

just give it some throttle while on the main stand and also do a fly-by where someone holds the camera while you ride past him. that will give a more realistic feel to the grunty sound.Originally posted by cscsarkar331 View Postwhile revving means on the move or stand still??

I am too much depressed ....again met with an accident today..again a shit head ricksaw from opposite side changed its lane I somehow manged to turn the bike out ward and saved me and the bike but at last my bike's silencer touched the end of ricksaw and it completely shattered i jus changed it last month(it was another ricksaw who caused it).this bike is like my gf I can't take this anymore thinking of leaving her..I'll leave riding..HISTORY IS NOT ABOUT WHO IS RIGHT BUT ABOUT WHO WRITES IT.......

So today I was comparing The FZ-S with the new 2011 FZ,I found the change in note of engine startup! It's much like those superbikes notes i.e Honda CBR 600RR !! Does the engine startup note depend on spark plug?
P.S: Those who have the new edition FZ kindly check the spark plug make.http://www.facebook.com/#!/Harshcaprio
