Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
New issues lately (UPDATED : SOLVED MYSELF)
1. Bike won't start on just self start. Need to give slight throttle. (Used to start without throttle before) (Issue : Chock was on)
2. (During neutral) Need to keep on giving throttle every few seconds to keep bike engine ON. Otherwise engine turns off. (Issue : Chock was on)
3. (During neutral) When high throttle is given and released, bike seems to be still accilerating with some RPM and throttled engine sound, even when accilerator is fully released. (Issue : Chock was on)
4. Some kind of power drop with a 'bhoom' sound once in a while when riding. (Still there. Need help)
Thanks.Last edited by dantisjoeshaji; 05-01-2018, 02:40 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Nope. I bought a 3 year old perfect condition bike for 40k. And get a mechanic along to check before buying the bike.Originally posted by Arbor View PostI am planning to get a used Fzs 4 yr old model. Everything looks fine but some burning smell seems to be coming from engine. Should I buy it at 50k?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
No. Burgain for less than 40k. If white gray smoke is coming from the exhaust while revving, it means piston rings, cylinder bore & piston are damaged, it can also damage the valves & valve seats. The cost of repairing will go around 10k including labour costs.Originally posted by Arbor View PostI am planning to get a used Fzs 4 yr old model. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Just crossed 50k in odo day before yesterday. Still it is going strong.
So far replaced or repaired:
1. Clutchplates assembly once.
2. Intake & Exhaust valves once.
And, other consumables like Brake pads, cone sets, fork oils, three set tyres etc etc.
Now, bike is giving white smokes only when the bike is revved hard in cold (I saw it today in SVC). Cylinder Piston Piston Ring needs replacement.
Suitable engine oil in which the engine felt responsive is Motul 300v 10w40, and smoothest in Motul 5100 15w50, so far.
Iridium plug (NGK CR8EIX) made the engine more smooth and a slight urgency in throttle response.
Also the michelin pilot street 140/70 r17 made the bike a little more speed in a gear than before. And, 15T front sprocket from Yamaha R15 v2 made the bike a little more relaxed in highway 95-100 kph cruising, but replaced with stock for struggle in city rides.
Overall a good reliable machine from yamaha. Planning to give it to my friend as I upgraded my ride to R15.
Here are very few memories with that machine. Hope you guys like the very small ownership experience.Regards

Thanks. No white smoke coming from exhaust. Mechanic says I can buy and that engine is in good condition.Originally posted by saikatbyte View PostNo. Burgain for less than 40k. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Yes. I went to north sikkim twice, and the roads here in WB are hell in monsoons, also places are prone to leaks for industrial areas.Originally posted by Prithvirajmn8 View Post3 sets of tyre in 50k kilometres[emoji33] [emoji33] [emoji33]
Stock front replaced at ~25k, then 2nd one at ~48k, running on 3rd.
Stock rear at 16k, then at ~40k, running on 3rd.Regards
