I have decided to buy a FZ-S in coming October, do you guys think FZ can handle our load and will be OK with monocross suspension, I mean in my RTR, I never face bottom out when riding with my two pillions. Do you guys face bottom out with FZ? And what millage should I expect from FZ in city?

Last question: Do you think it will be a wise idea to switch to FZ from RTR?
well i'll say go for a test drive.. bt iam sure u will nt find tht use full fr family purpose as rear seat is quite lifted ans small to 2 pillion riders there is no foot seat fr ladies sitting side ways... one leg keeps hanging in air n tht is quite pain ful after some time.. pull it doesnt matter with no of pillion riders.. matters is the weight.. my seat as just tuched the tyre once... tht to with 3 people sitting with combined weight way above 220 or 240 kgs.. tht to on huge speed breaker.. else its fine... and lastly if your a job going guy or have to go out with family there is no place were you can hang ny stuff.. and no place for hooks as well.. to put ur office bag kinda stuff... its more of adventure and styling bike then family use

If your pillion is on the heavier side of the scale then you are sure gonna bottom out on speed breakers as the ground clearance is low ... otherwise it should be fine , but i still don't think the fz is made to carry three ... just my opinion ..

      • Thanks for prompt reply, in India no bike is made to carry three people, nor even in the world. But we do carry three people sometimes in our bikes, although it is not a good habit. Considering my weight 70 plus my wife and kid total around 85, so total is 155kg, my RTR is always ready to carry these loads, but I have no idea if monocross can carry it or not, BTW how is the power delivery when carrying these type of weights. And how is the mileage?

rtr to fz is a good choice but it depends on what your wife wears....
on fz if a woman sits side ways then it will be a problem for you to drive....
and your kid might feel a bit uncomfortable on fz's tank...

            • @Kauria
RTR has a very low load limit thts the reason you are bottoming out the suspension.
and FZ wont make things better...it wont be conformable for 3 ppl...id suggest you get a PULSAR or DAZZLER..since the have a bigger seat.

Actually I am facing a similar problem while down shifting , upshifting is perfect , but while downshifting it feels like the cog is jammed , the lever hesitates to travel the full arc and when I force it there is an odd clicking sound when the cog finally engages , this creates a lot of trouble when i am at a signal and have to get a nuteral or 1 (smilar when the engine is off and you try to get a 1 or 2 from nuteral)

I am afraid that something is out of place and if I continue to ignore it ,the gearbox might go kaput. HELP needed senior members please help out..

                  • if the upshifting is perfect and the problem is with downshifting alone , then even i had the problem similar to that at the beginning , wen my bike was new ... told the SVC and they tried rectifying it , didn't work ... but now after 8k kms , the problem has vanished ( this after shifting to FS oil)... if your bikes are new , then give the gearbox some time to set-in ... or take it to SVC , tell em your gear-shifts are hard , they'll change the lever spring and then check whether it becomes okay ( didn't work for me ) ...

the bike has done about 4 K kms.. the problem wasn't there initially , it is a relatively new problem .. and yes I got the spring changed .. didnt work for me either. Could it be a clutch freeplay issue ? got my clutch leaver changed round about the same time the problem started occurring...

                      ??? Yelp ... direction needed !

Thanks for the link though nand15!!

well gear shifting i had this problem just twice or thrice i guess... it is very comman... and it happens in all bikes and even cars.. its just due to tht there was a bit mis match between engine and gear...and some times it doesnt work by pulling clutch u hve to move ur bike a bit ahead or back to get them in position.. it happens once in blue moon...so nothing to worry... actuly this stuff is used very often to do stunts... to give bike a pull... they intently engage engine and gear wrong.. and some time it also happens if clutch is nt pulled properly.. or u didnt apply enough power to change gear..

yes I know about clutch wheelies.. pull the clutch .. give it the beans and bang the clutch .. and the front wheel points to the heavens..

This is different though .. I will check out the clutch adjustment tomorrow and report back the progress..

Don't go for the FZ. It will not serve even a single need of yours. As suggested by some1 already, go for the unicorn. Comfort comes first. I myself do not like riding with a pillion... the bike is amazing for solo riding but for ur needs, you need a machine with a longer seat, and unicorn is no miser in terms of performance either.
