at least once a month rip the bike to 100+ that was the advice I got some times back so that to remove the carbon particles that stick around the chambers to the exhaust since its very little unlike 2 stroke where u have to heat the exhaust to remove such carbon particles...

even i have heard this one that ripping the engine cleans it and the rest of the system... dont know how true is that....

guys i have done more than 7k kms in my FZ and for a past couple of weeks i feel that the rear wheel traction is not like it was before especially in bumpy and muddy roads another problem in my bike is that it struggles to go past 85 to reach even 100 damn slowly. Everything happening after a little lack of concentration when i dropped the bike in a wet road while parking.....

i went immediately to nearby yamaha showroom they checked the bike and told everything is fine but i dont feel lik tht....please help me out....!

. Had exactly done the same thing since i was really getting very low mileage figures, i tried this in the night and screwed the whole thing. But well, u stoop down to a level where you have nothing to lose. Next morning i read the whole 10 TIMES

and it paid off in the end.

give it a shot, u can always hit the svc if it aint going ur way

erm check the carburetor tuning for the performance part.. that should help sorting out the issue of the top end assuming that you have changed the engine oil and oil filter at regular intervals along with taking care of the chain slack at every service..

i am not too sure about the rear wheel losing traction but do check the rear shock setting.. if kept on the softer side the bike does tend to lose the original agility it had with the hard setting... the stock tyres are not designed for off-roading if that's what you meant by losing traction in muddy roads.

Well traction might not be be because of wear and tear of the tire thread.Actually stock tire lasts about 18-20k+ kms as said by many users.But if you would have ridden it hard then wearing of tire might be possible.
And struggling to get top speed might be cause of carburetor setting get that checked by SVC itself.

I have also experienced this sluggish acceleration after 90-95 kmph. It feels like an old Ambassador diesel engine. It is a well maintained bike.
I know a guy who's a bike racer as well as an expert. He said that FZs acceleration become sluggish after around 95 kmph. FZ is actually a street bike and not a racing bike. The torque delivery is not good higher engine rpms.
My FZ's shocks have become hard. I have to ride very slow on rough and unpaved roads.
I agree with you on the off-roading part. Once, I was riding up a steep unpaved road with a heavy pillion rider, the rear tyre kept on slipping into a rut along the entire length of the road. The actual surface of the road was hard. But there was thin layer of gravel on the surface.

another problem i noticed in my tyre is that when i go on bumpy and potholed roads i feel as if the tyre has become flat and no air in tyre but am constantly cruising at 80km on flat surface...any chance of puncture????

It the tire pressure is not upto the mark then getting puncture will be easy.
Front-29-30 Psi
Rear-33-35 Psi.

Motul is a good brand to opt for.

fz's stock tire is not meant for anything else than smooth tarmac... it will skid on even the slightest hint of gravel or sand on the road....

as for your tire flat problem.... fill it with air till the recommended pressure of 32-33 psi and then check it daily for a couple of days if the pressure falls below 30psi then there is a possibility of a very tiny puncture which might not be noticeable visually other than that since you say that the road you travel on is filled with bumps and potholes i will also recommend you to check the rim for any type of bends....
