Ok! The certificate is what the game is all about! Attempting a Saddlesore is not only for testing the bike and self abilities to ride but it also attracts the honor of being an IBA Member. The following are the details from IBA's website:

                    IBA Membership:

"How do I become a member of the Iron Butt Association?"
The Iron Butt Association is not your typical "club". We are more a state of mind. We do not have monthly dues, a newsletter, or even a membership card. In fact, the closest thing we have to a membership card is our "World's Toughest Riders" license plate back. On that note, to become a part of the Iron Butt Association, you must complete at least a Bun Burner 1500 (1,500 miles in 36 hours) or the SaddleSore 1000 (1,000 miles in 24 hours). The rules for these rides can be found under the "Rides & Rules" section of this web site.

Completion of a Bun Burner or SaddleSore gets you a certificate of accomplishment, an IBA pin and IBA plate back as well as a listing on our web site as an Iron Butter at Iron Butt Mile Eaters

Oh, ya, I had to do it on a warm chain (the chain should be warm!)
and, I used the spray cans to do it (practiced it a couple of times before the ride).
Can be done. (not like super thorough job, but - good enough)

                      Cleaning - WD40 (Small can - 150 INR)
Lube - Yamalube offroad version (250 ml can - 400 INR)

Well, I wouldn't say - that's totally normal! (unless you are really power-shifting and driving in thrash mode)
I consistently get FE of like 40 +/- 2 kmpl (with driving at 4-5k rpms)

                      Thanks,

                      Ace.

                      • Guys , I have a question , does the fuel tank ( not the panels but the metal tank itself ) on our bikes get very hot while riding ?

My last service was on Jun 27th.I have done 5k km.I check tyre press (F-28 R-33)whenever i go for tank fil(read once in a week).I don't ride thrash I upshift at 4k rpm nd downshift at 2k rpm.I used to get arround 40 not below 40.Don't know what happened from last week and acceleration and gearshift beame a little harsh.I use the mineral engine oil provided by the svc.

                            • Hey guys I'm planning to change the spark plug and I was reading in the service manual that it needs to be adjusted to the right torque etc..but I highly doubt that any mechanic or even SVC will be doing this..is it fine to just plonk it in?

Just make sure you don't over tighten it .
