Does my unicorn have an oil filter/mesh? Do i need to clean it or change it ?
(One of my friend told me that I need to change/clean the oil filter/mesh as its nearing 30k kms and also that I have decided to switch to fully synthetic oil.... My local mechanic said the bike doesn't have oil filter/mesh, but my friend says it has one. really confused. HELP ME !
All 150cc Bikes have oil filter and unicorn is not exceptional, normally oil filter change is required before changing the oil type to synthetic.

am using GS150R and used to change oil filter on every alternate oil change

      Any suggestions??
I believe this is because of the brakes. I have the same issues in all my bikes due to moisture. It tends to disappear after driving 1-2 Kms.

Yes the manual says that there is a centrifugal Oil filter. Forgot the KMS at which it needs to be cleaned. somewhere between 20000 to 250000 is what i remember. when i told the same to my mechanic, he told that he will be doing it in next service.

        • Unicorn Front Brake Squeeking /vibrating sound

          Guys
I have my Unicorn running verywell since 2009. I gave it for paid service during Feb and since I took the delivery of serviced vehicle, i hear squeeking sound from front break. Also, when i apply brake, i get vibrating feel from the front brake lever Like ThrThrThrThr

Initially, i thought it may be due to wet brake pad and get cleared after it gets dried up. But, even after 15 days, this has not gone.. I feel very annoyed while applying brake because of this vibration..

Can anyone tell me what could be the reason for this ?

Will have to wait and watch.
Other than the squeaking sound the bike is flawless.

            • Take the caliper apart and scrub the pads. If they're too worn out then replace them.

Check whether the disc plate has got bent.Or may be the brake pads are not fitted properly in the caliper assembly. There should be no vibration at lever as such while applying the brakes.

                      • Cheated, company claims 60KMPL, not a centimeter more than 40

I purchased a new Honda Unicorn on Jan 2012, its the 2nd of april today and ive ridden it about 7500 kms. So i use the bike a lot. Th ereason for this purchase (downgrade after a 500) was essentially to save on fuel. The bike has given a standard mileage of 40kmpl after 3 services against the claims of 60kmpl. (which is just 10kmpl more than my Royal Enfield Machismo 500)

I needless to say ride hard. on an average cover 130Kms everyday on smooth expressways. no doubt the high end torque is good, i constantly ride at 80-100 for an hour at a time. The mileage seems to be a cheating factor for me. A BIG THUMBS DOWN.

ad the bike has started to cause neck pains, which 10 years of touring on enfields didnt.

The Unicorn wouldnt give you 60 kmpl when you are riding her at that speeds. I know, I have been riding & touring on one for 7+ years The max you can expect when doing 80-110 kmph is 45kmpl! You keep the speeds at 80 and below and the FE shoots up by 5-10 kmpl depending on your acceleration and braking habits. Whoever was advising you of 60 kmpl didnt knew thier bike or you werent specific when asking

Havent faced any neck issues, ever! I would suggest check a doc rather than blame the bike.

                          Cheers,

the claim of 60kmpl is under normal riding conditions(~50kmph) not at 100kmph..practically u would get around 50-55kmpl..

@constant top gear and the test rider weighing around 60 kg.
the tuning of unicorn is done in such a way that if you hit more than 75kmph on speedo the fe will start decreasing.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                              #overkill is underrated.

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

                                Shamik,

Thanks for the feedback. but i bought this bike just because of the fact that is has some amount of punch and has good FE. 40kmpl is just not acceptable. 50-55 as you mentioned, is good and acceptable.

This is (and hopefully the last) small bike i ride. putting this up for sale.

secondly ...Do those iridium spark plus help??
