      • ^^Im pretty sure you aren't gonna find any answers to such queries here man..
Ive tried long and hard to inject some topics other than mundane fuel averages, run-in doubts and other such things.
        Sadly.. Hasn't helped one bit

One of my friends has been using the 20W40 Motul 30004T on his Uni and he's extremely happy with it. It's a mineral oil and come highly recommended.
Will be trying it out at my next oil change

Do check out the "Engine Oil" thread though. I had a mighty long discussion there.

        Cheers..!!

Yup i am using it on my Xtreme which has the same engine as uni, the oil has not lost its colour even after 1.4k kms, the engine revs are smooth and thad better than before, if you need a suggestion that can you use it on your uni i bet you you will not get the answer, you have to try it out yourself and let the whole world know the results.

I have used Castrol Power 1 (not Racing), and I feel its very good. I took permission from the service station and they confirmed that I will not lose warranty. I have only finished 4 services till date and I have tried Power1 3 times and Motul 3000v 20w40 once. Both are nice, but I felt that the Power1 lasts much longer. It seemed to retain its viscosity and colour even after 4500 kms. However, its been 2500kms on Motul and I already feel like changing it as the engine noise is beginning to change.

I have never used Honda engine oil right from the 1st service (all with the permission of the service guys).

              Cheers!

              • Well to be frank people . I have not heard many changes to be done in Honda , especially in UNI . Riders are happy with the stock performance usually . Max change that is done would be to the tires and some sticker and the shock adjustment . Its really nice to know if any one has done engine mods for performance as well as tested different oil . The service center dose not prefer any other oil than the Honda Oil itself . SO don't know how its going to work out with a different one . My bike is new and don't want to take chances , so i stick back and keep reading the info on others post and will do all these test when i cross at least my 3rd free service .

Its better you stick to mineral oil for a couple of services man. Its not advisable to switch over to synthetic oils for a fairly newer engine.

The engine oils thread has all the necessary information

When u give ur bike for service, ask them if its ok for u to use ur own brand of oil while making sure it is 20W40. If they say its ok, then ask them to only charge for consumables. when u get back the bike, take it to the nearest oil shop, get the fresh oil, take it to the nearest mech and change it. Dont ask the service guys to change, they'll object to doing that. Dont pressure them to accept ur request either. Be really really polite, and they'll oblige to accept in not changing the oil.

Correct. Afaik, Power1 is a synthetic oil, and so it motul 3000v. Dont consider synthetic oil till 10K kms.

Motul 3000T is a fully mineral oil in 20W40 format and its the 300V thats synthetic.

And there are no issues with using a fully synthetic oil after 5K kms.

                              • ^^ If you wanna change over from Honda's Idemitsu stuff, buy up the Motul 30004T in 20W40 spec.

Its a mineral oil and comes highly recommended...
