however i have just switched to petronas sprinta 5000
i usually changes my engine oil as soon as the air filter gets clogged , which happens between 1500-2000 kms .
what is the oil change interval for quite xtreme driving conditions ?(high rev condition)
And is there any oil filter/strainer in the uni ?(because the manual does not mention anything like this)The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.
So to increase the life of your automobile battery, blow the horn and flash the pass light in a quick start stop fashion instead of a conitnuous long horn blow or flash light continuous on!!
And obviously don't stretch the self start far too long.

well i m using maruti zen 's bulb 60w with no mod to battery and even my uni is kick start version that means weaker batter then ES.Originally posted by modifii View PostI want to improve headlight in my Unicorn but don't want to fit HID. Stock bulb is not having enough illumination, i find it difficult to ride on highway at night.
Can i fit higher rated bulb without modifying any wiring or battery? And if so then which bulb should i look for??
i noticed the following ..
1] there is delay in switching hi to low beam ..
2] indicators not working
3] no problem with sound

I would suggest 3000km.As far as the strainer is concerned, its present in the clutch side.Originally posted by honda_vings View Posthowever i have just switched to petronas sprinta 5000

I wondered that as well..... I get my air filter cleaned once in about 7K-10K kms, even if not required.Originally posted by velociraptor13 View PostI would suggest 3000km.As far as the strainer is concerned, its present in the clutch side.

Keep a lookout for the engine feel and change as soon as u begin to feel that the engine is making a louder noise than usual.

This means bulb is not working to its full potential! Anyways with no mods done, your h/l will be running on AC. In that case indicators should work fine, as they run on battery.Originally posted by viv.nomad View Postwell i m using maruti zen 's bulb 60w with no mod to battery and even my uni is kick start version that means weaker batter then ES.

actually at 1500 kms the air filter is 65 % clogged and till 2000 kms its almost gone 85-90% .Yeah i do travel through roads that are often dusty.
Sometimes the air is so much saturated with sand, that i have to take a bath after my ride.
I can feel the loss in efficiency after 1500 kms and so i can't tolerate it .
Also i'hv heard that one must change oil and air filter and oil filter together (but even i don't know why )
So any1 changing oil filter with every oil change ?The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.

I always wonder how you come up with those precise numbers!Originally posted by honda_vings View Postactually at 1500 kms the air filter is 65 % clogged and till 2000 kms its almost gone 85-90% .Yeah i do travel through roads that are often dusty.

Just kidding bro!
Just to let you know, most manufacturers recommend a 10,000 kms air filter replacement interval! This can be shortened to 5000 kms in dusty areas.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

the highest used air filter ran for 3000 kms
At that time i did not had any knowledge about the bikes components ( ~ 6 months ago)
At that time i got my bike fulllllllllly inspected for low pick-up viz ;
1. Carb cleaning and tuning
2.chain lubing and various free play inspection etc.
The dumb mechanic finally ended up replacing the air filter and after that i felt as if riding a new bike.He laso told that its never necessary to replace the air-filter even after 10,000 kms. But thye engine will face an xtra load = bad mileage n pick-up.May be thats why i get a mileage of 55+ even after my ripping kind of riding style.
I don't know how you guyz hold on for 10,000 or even 5000 kms ! !The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.

Woah....
I'm amazed looking at people changing the air Filder in only less then 3000Kms and some at 5000Km's. I'm saying this because my data is completly diffrent then this.
I changed my first Air filter at 30,000 or 31000Km's and after that it;s doing perfect since last 14000Km's.
I feel that till the time the air filter is bend or is clogged to the limit where it cannot be cleaned then only we need to replace it.
If the filter walls are fine and after cleaning it looks clog free then you can easily use it.
But make it sure that you never clean it with water(have seen one isiot doing so) and clean it up with high pressure air only.

Ya, and most of the time the mechs don't bother to clean it thoroughly. If done properly and handled carefully(barely takes 2 mins), it shoud easily be good for around 10,000+ km.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostI always wonder how you come up with those precise numbers!
