    ok guyz
after 1500 km i will post a side by side pic of used and new air filter
neways i haven't got any replies for oil filter replacement
When do we need to replace the oil filter ?
The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.
So to increase the life of your automobile battery, blow the horn and flash the pass light in a quick start stop fashion instead of a conitnuous long horn blow or flash light continuous on!!
And obviously don't stretch the self start far too long.

When I decided to buy a bike, the one and only option came to my mind was Unicorn.
I went to Peeyem Honda in Kannur and asked the details about the bike even though I knew every specification except the price. I asked the guy for a test drive, but I didnt get as the TD vehicle was not there. He promised to call me the next day and get me the test drive. The next day, I expected for the call. But no one called me. After two days, I called him and asked him about my test drive. He said, he tried calling me and I was in out of coverage area.

So I decided not to make the booking through him. After two weeks, I went to show room again and contacted a girl there to go through the booking. I paid 1000 Rs as the booking price and she told me that it'll take around two months for the bike to arrive. And I have to make the full payment 20 days before deliver.I agreed and asked her for a test drive, she gave me the keys of the bike and asked me to be careful. I was surprised. No one from there was coming with me. So I took my friend with me and went to my home which is 5 km away from there. And returned the keys to her and thanked her.
On 2008 November 25th, I paid the Ex-Showroom amount for the bike and they said that it'll take around 20 days for the bike to arrive. On 4th December 2008, I got a call from my home saying that the show room people have called to inform that the bike has arrived. I was in Bangalore at that time, and on hearing this I have started for searching trains and buses. Atlast I found a train but there was no reservation.

I decided to go by General compartment. I reached there next day and on 10th, I submitted the required documents for registration. Atlast, I got my Wing on 11th December 2008.

The first pic of my bike.

That is the catch. Get in touch with Sreeni. He has done some mods on his Uni. For proper lighting, either rewind the coil or convert it to DC.

Else, removing console, pilot and tail light with LEDs help to a great extent. And these are not too costly either.
Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

No need to replace it, just clean it (dip inpetrol and clean using pressurized air)....running in dusty conditions will affect just air-filter not oil filter (it's totally enclosed and isolated and has function to trap heavy particles in engine oil). It's on clutch side (at bottom), just check/clean it, if you feel it's clogged.

Please post pics of your old/new filters !!

            • guys can you tell me which is the best Honda Service center in Delhi NCR region?

And what's the precaution one needs to take before handing over the bike to service centre?(first service) I have heard that in some cases service centre people flick the bike's parts? is that true? if yes, how can this be avoided?

              thank you.

              • Hi again everyone.
Since my last post I've had some fun riding my uni. I had some questions:
                a) What are the max and min speeds for each gear?
                b) Is it ok to use the rear, pillion grip along with the steering to pull the bike onto center stand?
                c) Any tips on general bike usage- cuz this is my first bike, I love it and I don't want to make a single mistake with it?

                Thanks everyone.

                • Hi again,
I'm also planning to get a helmet for something like 1000-1300. Please suggest some good helmets.

                  • hey guyz
the rpm tends to be heavy in 5th gear in7.5k+ rpm range only
can oil filter be the culprit here ?
manual recommends to replace the oil fiter after 20,000 km or 12 months whichever is earlier.
i have not changed the oil filter since 4.5 years and has done only 17000 kms

                    • the unicorn is one heavy bike.

update: had to wait until my third service 700 kms and 2 engine oil changes before the bike now feels polished and gives a refined experience while riding. Ok even after the second service and oil change it was good but that feeling didn't last long.

but not it is performing well and giving buttery smooth feedback. Don't know how long it will last. We'll see.

I use the 'saree guard' for the purpose you mentioned.

avoid putting the bike into central stand as far as possible on soft clay/ground. Always rear stand is preferable because even if the bike falls down on its side it will be cushioned by the side stand to an extend. I have found out that parking on central stand on soft clay is highly dangerous.

                        • hey guys thanks for all d people who insisted me to opt petronas sprinta 5000!!!!! earlier i's usin motul 5100 which was almost on the verge of destroying my engine after a long research i zeroed in petronas 5000 which is fully synthetic n cheaper dan other brands, from past one week i searched for dis bloody not so famous but a very gud oil all over bangalore wasting my fuel n time. i decided to go for motul 300v as it was d second best option but d desire to buy sprinta was still burning my heart. wen i's comin back home from my col reunion i had to drop my friend back home n on d way i jus managed to see a petronas poster outside an automobile shop, i stopped right there n asked for d same, d guy in dat shop din even knw d name of d product n he called his owner to attend me, n luckily dat owner gave me wat i wanted n told it was d last bottle he had !!! i payed 420rs but d mrp was 447! i felt like i's on top of petronas towers had to tel dis small story jus to share d pain i took to find dis oil!

n now comin t experience i had wid dis super oil! , d results were immediate , jus after fillin dis oil in d engine i cud feel a hell lot of difference in engine sound. i took it for ride n astonishingly thr wre no vibrations which wre thr while usin motul, d same day me n my frnz went for a night out n i's surprised by its performance cos i cud beat an avenger 180 wid k&n n an apache 180! v wevt for a drag for about 5kms n yeah i won it, but all of us reached a max of 120kmph. d engine is butter smooth, smoother dan a normal uni wid mineral oil in a short burst dey both took off swiftly as dey had more bhp but after 1 or 2 kms i catched dem, matched dem n beat dem

d only -ve point i noticed in dis oil is dat its heat eating ability, after racing so much d engine was on fire but dats obvious. d next day after coming from col which is only 6kms far d engine was again on fire .except dis i've no other complaint on petronas sprinta 5000 n i suggest dis oil for all uni owners who wants to try a fully synth oil

any new oil would feel gr8 for first 500-1000 km .Tell the experience of the oil after 1000-1500 km.Does it hold its performance till that mileage.I am also running this oil . And i had taken equivalent pain to get it like you.
But i have done hardly 500 kms on it. The oil is definitely the best oil i've tried till date. But will see to it if it can go beyond 1500 km mark with same smoothness.
