    The Honda Unicorn is a motorcycle, developed by Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) and presented during 2005, the first motorcycle in India to feature a mono-suspension. The whole bike was built from scratch and was designed by the R&D team of Honda based in Osaka, Japan. The design of the bike was done keeping in mind Indian road conditions. Many new features were incorporated, such as two-way air jacket, a diamond frame, an engine producing a torque of 12.8 Nm at a relatively low 5500 RPM for good fuel economy. The first version of the bike featured spoke wheels and only kick starter. The bike is renowned for its smooth engine and a perfect gearbox. The quality of the bike is also well praised.

    The second version featured a self starter and graphics on the body. Honda released this version to compete with the Bajaj Pulsar and the TVS Apache. Changes included alloy wheels, powder coated engine with a buffed head and new graphics, clear lens indicator lamps, a trip meter, and a slightly smaller rear grab rail. A limited Moto GP edition had the guise of a Repsol Honda RC211V

    • A new gear shift lever which is designed specifically to place the control on your toes is the major change in the new Unicorn.

    The Automotive batteries are designed to work best in a typical short start-stop fashion.
    So to increase the life of your automobile battery, blow the horn and flash the pass light in a quick start stop fashion instead of a conitnuous long horn blow or flash light continuous on!!
    And obviously don't stretch the self start far too long.

      I think they have inserted wrong information at wilipedia...124km will be the speed of old unicorn and 115kmph on new one's....

        u wont get those speeds unless u mod it ...

        so discuss sm technicals so that u can mod, not that unverified scrap. .

        • the rule of thumb says ;
          a bike with a higher top speed will touch the 100km/hr(say) faster then the one with lower top speed.
          Aneways , here are the following things i have come accrossed regarding new unis:
          1.Have a smaller sized jet ,that improves air-fuel mixture flow efficiency that improves both acceleration as well as mileage(due to smaller jet).
          2. A shaved inlet and exhaust valve to allow for intake of slightly more fuel and slighly more exhaust of combustion gases.
          3.As you said a 43 tooth rear sprocket.
          I am not sure if the above are true or fake , so leaving it to you for correction and also keep adding the changes to the list.

            Some clarification required??Doesn't smaller size jet corresp to lesser fuel being delivered w.r.t same volume of air being supplied,hereby leading to lean mixture.

                • yeah sure
                  Actually , its more important to burn the fuel more efficiently(completely) rather then intaking more fuel and then leaving some fuel unburnt.
                  now if the jet size is reduced , lesser amount of fuel will go through the jet but at a greater velocity (less area= more velocity), allowing it to spread uniformely all over inside of the combustion chamber. Earlier the fuel was concentrated at a particular spot in the cylinder and the spark was not powerfull enough to burn that concentrated mixture that much completely.
                  So , lesser the fuel burnt incompletely ,lesser will be the power loss and vice-versa.
                  Also ,When this technique is accompanied by shaving of inlet valves , more air fuel mixture is allowed to enter the cylinder (every inlet stroke) and hence significantly more efficient engine.
                  And why are we discussing theory , why isn't there any 4th gen uni accompanying us for his practical experience.

                    i always wanted to check d top speed in my bike n always used to do 120 max! dis time i cud achieve 126 cos i changed my riding position n took off all d extra kilos on my bike, yes i've put motul 300v synth oil, had filled nitrogen on tyres, i's doin 115 on d highway n my bike was goin out of breath. d moment i bent over my tank it rocketed to touch 126! n ya thr was a slight declination on d highway! on a straight stretch i cud achieve only 119!

                      I sold the uni and got myself a xtreme.The uni i had was the spokes version i never ever Used the bike i only AB-USED it.The bike was thrashed by me and a couple of villagers who worked for my dad.The bike did 20000Kms was given to SC only 3-4 times the oil was changed only 3-4 times that too by the SC guys.Yet the uni never ever let me down EVER.I cannot say the same thing about my Xtreme.Whatever you say dude nothing matches a uni.

                      • exactly nothing matches a uni, its d only bike in 150cc segment which is more reliable n durable! no matter how much ever u thrash it , it never gives up. my bro has a 1st gen uni n has done 32000kms, he's involved in more dan 6 to 7 major accidents, had used k&n for a while, from day one started rippin in d bike , even after 4yrs d engine sounds rly smooth n smilin!
